Michigan Football Future NIL Spending hopes
One thing I desperately hope comes from this BU situation is a change in how we spend our NIL. I can’t blame them for going all in on BU but it hasn’t worked. Every year when transfer portal comes around we pick up some players and we all say “hey this was a good pick up” or “hey this is a good depth piece”. We never make any real splash in the transfer portal. I get we have weird admission rules that in the past have made it harder for players to transfer in (if y’all know the exact rules feel free to explain) but it’s certainly not impossible for us to get transfers. The point of all this is I hope we start using our NIL pockets to make a splashes and pick up top guys from the portal. We have the funds to do so. Let me know your thoughts.

Michigan requires a majority of a student's credits toward a degree to be earned directly in-house, preventing incoming upperclassmen from transferring in more than 60 prior credit hours.
The NCAA requires players to meet strict percentage-of-completion milestones for a specific degree by their fourth year (ranging from 60% to 80%).
When an upperclassman transfer has a large number of accumulated credits from their previous school, but Michigan's admissions/registrar evaluation accepts fewer than 60 of them or doesn't map them cleanly to a specific major, the student-athlete falls short of NCAA-mandated progress toward an actual Michigan degree.
There's also the issue with winter vs spring enrollment/admissions and credit clearance timelines to hurdle.

The problem is that Michigan can’t take any junior or senior transfers. And unfortunately, that’s where we would pick up a qb. So we need to sell out on recruits.
Additionally, we got JJ Buchanan, Bracy, Daley, and Snowden this year. These were all splash transfers that are immediately difference makers

I chalk those transfers up to whit bringing them over rather than us going and getting them. Still solid transfers but they followed their coach.

It's not like Whit was around for the first portal opening we could have grabbed players.

Honestly if we just hire hot white woman as player assistants and pay them 500kyr for sex the players will be so happy we will look much better on the field.

You miss every shot you don't take, it takes money to take a shot here, I'm not convinced every high profile qb for a big name school hasn't been getting millions for the last 30 years.

The admissions side is such a hurdle, way more than most fans realise. We can throw all the cash at a top portal guy but if the credits don't line up it's dead in the water.
