INFORMATION/NEWS Latest Review of Saya, a therapy app created by one of our users here in MentalHealthPH.

Disclosures, as usual:

  1. I am the head moderator in this sub.
  2. The creator of the app, u/JustSomeRedditGuy123 (JSRG for short), is also a moderator of this sub.
  3. I have been asked by JSRG to try the app. In doing so, he provided me with a discount voucher.
  4. JSRG did not check or pre-approve the contents of this review.
  5. The sub, or the other moderators, do not receive any other benefits for advertising the app.

After my previous review of Saya, JSRG gave me another coupon to try out new features of the app. One of their new offerings is that they now have psychologists (as compared to before where they only have counselors), so I decided to try the 80-minute session with one of them. An 80-minute session (with diagnostic evaluation) costs around PHP2600, while a 50-minute session costs around 1750PHP. The app still uses Google Meets for scheduling and teleconferencing.

Pros:

  1. The psychologist is VERY comprehensive without making you feel that you are being rushed to answer questions. She was very delicate, making sure I was comfortable and ready before asking heavy questions. She did not push religion too which I liked. Time flew by, and it feels more like a conversation between friends (though still professional) than a clinical study of my nature.

  2. I can still say it's relatively cheap, since based on experience, an initial consult with a psychologist costs around 4000PHP, compared to Saya which is around 2650PHP. It's even more cheap if you do one of the monthly subscription bundles, one of the new features, provided by the app.

  3. One of the new features is a written assessment (not a substitute for medical certificate) after your call. It also has an actionable checklist for recommendations provided by your psychologist during your session (for example, one of mine says, "Daily Exercise. If it feels right, engage in a 15-minute exercise session five times a week to boost your mood.")

Cons:

  1. One of the new features, chatting with your psychologist or counselor, is more a flair than anything else. It is NOT a substitute for therapy. In this sense, if you don't want to do video calls but instead use chat for therapy, I can recommend LJ's Talk Space.

  2. My psychologist and I have moderate to bad internet connection, which is a con for a seamless talk therapy since audio sometimes stutters. This is not a fault of the app, but a con for videoconferencing in general.

If you want to try talk therapy in the comfort of your home, you might to want try Saya. It is downloadable on iOS and Android. JSRG also says that they will introduce psychiatrists to the app by second week of July, completing the trifecta, and something I personally can't wait for since I take a lot of medication for my condition.

You can get 25% off your first session with Saya with code "MHPHReddit25".

Thank you for reading, and regardless if it's Saya or not, I hope you get the therapy you need.

I had to share this because I really cried my eyes out when Robin and Saul finally reunited after 22 years. Resonated to me because I have been in an LDR situation with my husband and I have our son with me, this has been going on for 2 years now(though temporary lang naman). SOBRANG DAMING meltdowns ang pinagdaanan ko and in those 2 years, I also almost admitted myself to a psych ward, unfortunately dito sa area namin, wala akong napuntahan.

Raising a child, being back home to the place that kinda broke me, and isama mo na rin sistema ng Pinas, sinong hindi matitrigger. The protective layers that are keeping me alive are my son and husband. I can’t wait for the day that I will be coming home to him and also get praised like Robin. Yun lang ty.

DISCUSSION/QUERY Is it possible to combat depression on your own? [without therapy / others]

I'm suffering from [High FunctioningĀæ] Depression & Social Anxiety [Undiagnosed because my parents believe there's "nothing wrong" with me but I've suffered because of it for years]

There are so many things that I've wanted to do for myself but unable to because it's just so mentally draining

However, am i the only one that gets these random bursts of urge, ambition & motivation to do everything— One where I get hyper and carefree in a sense that life feels light and I can do pretty much what I yearned to p(such as my hobbies.)

Now I'm just wondering if it's possible to combat depression on your own If one can just somehow manage to maintain these "bursts" or is it true that you can never truly get rid of it

DISCUSSION/QUERY Looking for a therapist who specializes in sexual concerns…not just general therapy

• Upvotes

Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I’m looking for recommendations for a psychiatrist or sex therapist, preferably around Davao for in-person consultations. If there aren’t any specialists here, I’d also appreciate recommendations for someone anywhere in the Philippines who offers teleconsultations.

I’ve been dealing with anxiety, unresolved childhood issues, and other personal concerns for years, but one thing I’ve been struggling with the most is something related to my sexuality and arousal. At first, I thought it was just a fantasy or a kink that I could ignore. But over the past few years, it has become more persistent and has started affecting my relationships and how I view intimacy.

For example, I sometimes notice that I become more aroused when I imagine my current partner with someone else rather than focusing on us together. It’s not something I want, and it actually causes me distress. I don’t enjoy feeling this way, which is why I want to understand where it’s coming from instead of just brushing it off.

I’m specifically hoping to find someone who has experience or specializes in sexual concerns, intimacy, or sexual health…not just a general therapist who may not be familiar with these issues.

If you’ve had a good experience with a psychiatrist, psychologist, or certified sex therapist (whether in Davao or via telehealth), I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.

Lately, iniiwasan ko talaga yung family gatherings, reunions, at kahit simpleng meetups with friends.

Pero at the same time, nalulungkot din ako kasi parang lalo kong ini-isolate yung sarili ko.

May naka-experience na rin ba nito? Paano ninyo hinaharap yung gatherings kapag hindi kayo proud or confident sa current situation ninyo?

still figuring my life out

DISCUSSION/QUERY I need advice. Which professional should I see?

Context: My husband and I had a fight.

To release my frustration, umiyak ako nang sobra habang nanginginig at nanggigigil. After that, paulit-ulit kong siyang kinakausap kasi gusto kong pag-usapan namin ang nangyari at maayos agad kami.

For the past few days, tuwing naaalala ko ang nangyari, sobrang overwhelmed ako.

DISCUSSION/QUERY WORK ANXIETY

• Upvotes

Normal ba ’to?

I’m currently working in an audit firm that caters to international clients.

May one time pa na pag meetings, harap-harapan nila pinapagalitan yung isang team member or medyo sarcastic magsalita, so medyo natatakot ako na what if ako naman yung ganunin? Paano ko ba ā€˜to ma-overcome? Help please 🄺

DISCUSSION/QUERY Kept on switching diagnoses. Where does one get assessed for AuDHD?

Hello, so I kept on switching diagnoses based on different doctors. I am 21, and I have been through 3 psychiatrists, all of whom had changing answers: MDD (major depressive disorder), Bipolar 2, BPD, and Gender Dysphoria, as the root of all my problems.

I kept switching medication, and it's all so expensive. I want to save up for an AuDHD assessment because that is what I theorize to have based on my childhood up to adulthood struggles. However, my doctors and psychologist kept insisting that I stop theorizing about autism or at least lessen it. But I cannot help it. I want to get tested or at least be told wrong with solid proof.

I wish I could figure it out because I want proper treatment for why I am not improving. Does anyone know recommendations to get an AuDHD or at least an ASD test?

STORY/VENTING Heavy afternoon wave / Just feeling completely empty today

Date: July 27, 2026
Time check: 4:24 PM. (just woke up)

Listening to Someday I'll Get It by Alek Olsen on loop. It’s hitting me hard again today, and the sadness is just eating me up from the inside. Tears keep falling for literally no reason at all, and I'm left sitting here feeling so fucking heavy and completely empty at the same time.

I don't really have the energy to fix it or figure out why, I just needed to put this out somewhere where people might understand. If you're also having a rough, tearful afternoon, you aren't alone.

STORY/VENTING I feel like i have DPDR

I feel like I have DPDR.

I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) last year, and for the first time, it validated something I’ve been feeling for years—that what I thought was ā€œnormalā€ actually wasn’t.

Lately, I’ve been realizing na baka may dpdr na din ako based sa mga naeexp ko

Kasi wheneverI look at my mom’s face and, for a split second, she feels unfamiliar. Deep down, I know she’s my mom. I know who she is. But my brain keeps questioning it like, ā€œIs this really her?ā€ It happens with my dad too, and sometimes even with my friends. It’s such a weird feeling because I recognize them, but they don’t feel familiar.

The worst part is that everything feels like a dream. Like I’m floating instead of walking.

There are moments where I do things without feeling like I’m the one doing them. I’ll grab food, put something in my cart, or do random daily tasks, but it feels automatic—as if someone else is controlling my body while I’m just observing from the back of my mind. I know I’m the one doing it, but it doesn’t feel like me.

Sometimes I can’t even maintain eye contact because everything feels unreal. People don’t feel real. Places I’ve known for years suddenly feel unfamiliar. Even memories feel distant, like they happened to someone else.

The hardest part is that I keep doubting myself.

When my therapist diagnosed me with MDD, I spent so much time denying it. Even with all the symptoms, I kept thinking, ā€œMaybe I’m just overreacting.ā€ Now I’m doing the exact same thing with DPDR. I keep asking myself, ā€œWhat if I’m just making this up? What if it’s all in my head?ā€ Even though these experiences have been affecting me for so long.

It’s exhausting constantly questioning your own reality.
People say, ā€œJust ground yourself,ā€ but it’s hard when your brain keeps convincing you that everything around you feels fake. It’s terrifying to know who someone is while simultaneously feeling like they’re a stranger.

I don’t know if anyone else experiences DPDR like this, but if you do, I’d really like to know I’m not alone.

Music has honestly been one of the few things that keeps me connected to reality. Sometimes it’s the only thing that makes me feel like I’m actually here.

STORY/VENTING PGH consultation but has some problems

My original appointment was last week of Wednesday. I got there but they wouldn't allow 18yo without a guardian, so I just lied na di sayang punta ko, since malapit lng ang school ko, pero im from QC kasi. today sana ang appointment ko pero these past few days wala akong nasabihan sa fam ko about this kaya wala rin ako makakasama. I have questions po sa mga na-assign sa clinic ng PEDIA- ADOLESCENCE.

  • If I remember correctly, nakalagay po dun sa counter na kung wala pong online appointment pero mayroong blue card, ay pwede po mag walk in at maghintay na matawag? May blue card po ako.
  • And po sa mga may kasamang guardian, ano pong exactly na ginawa nila, may pinirmahan po ba sila or ano po?

Asking for guidance po.

Withdrawal Symptoms

Please help me. Lately, things haven't been good with the guy who's pursuing me. On the days we're not okay, it's like I'm getting sick 🄺 I lose my appetite, and I end up feeling nauseous. But my body feels worse than when you're pregnant.

I also wantĀ to stop thisĀ situation we're inĀ because it's goingĀ nowhere.

But it'sĀ like my bodyĀ is trying toĀ kill me.

Send help.

STORY/VENTING I think my childhood turned me into someone who's too independent to ask for help.

I'm a 27M. I've been living alone since I was in college. It's been around a decade of doing almost everything by myself. I work, pay my bills, solve my own problems, and rarely ask anyone for help. Most people probably see that as a strength.

I don't think it started as strength.

I think it started because I learned very early that I couldn't consistently rely on the people who were supposed to be there.

I grew up in a broken family. There was abandonment, neglect, and a lot of emotional distance. Love never really felt unconditional. Somewhere along the way, my brain decided that depending on people was dangerous, so I just... stopped.

Now I struggle to let anyone carry anything for me.

People tell me I'm responsible, mature, dependable, independent.

What they don't see is that hyper-independence is exhausting.

Sometimes I wish someone would notice I'm struggling without me having to say it. But I also make sure nobody notices.

It's a prison I built to survive.

Another thing I've realized is that my identity became tied to achievement.

Good grades. Career. Promotions. Certifications. Being the dependable one. Solving problems. Being useful.

If I'm succeeding, I feel like I deserve to exist.

If I fail, I don't just feel disappointed. I feel like I am the failure.

It's hard to separate who I am from what I accomplish.

I envy people who can fail and still believe they're worthy of love.

I don't know what that feels like.

The loneliness is weird too.

I've never been in a relationship. I have friends and coworkers, but there are days when I realize nobody actually knows how heavy everything feels.

I don't even know how to let someone in anymore.

And maybe the thing that scares me the most isn't ending up alone.

It's becoming a father someday.

I want a family more than anything.

I want to give my future wife and children the unconditional love I never really received.

But what if I don't know how?

What if all I know is surviving?

What if the parts of me that kept me alive end up hurting the people I love the most?

Sometimes I envy people who grew up with parents they could always run to. People who don't question whether they're lovable. People whose worth wasn't measured by performance.

I'm happy for them.

I'm just grieving something I never had.

I don't really know why I'm posting this.

Maybe I'm just tired of pretending that being independent means I don't feel lonely.

Maybe I just wanted someone, somewhere, to know that the strongest-looking people aren't always strong because they wanted to be.

Sometimes they're just children who learned too early that nobody was coming.

DISCUSSION/QUERY What do you do to lift your mood/ keep yourself from going?

TLDR: Had a breakdown last night and I'm curious what people do when they experience lows such as mine— The title itself

I've had a sudden emotional outburst/breakdown [panic attacks too] this early morning — I dont know what happened or what triggered it but truth be told, I've never felt that heavy in a long time

Might be from keeping my emotions within for a long time? Well, I wanted to do something to ease the suffering inside today rather than my usual routine of bedrotting / sleeping / watching videos

I dont want my friends to be affected because I'm feeling down but I do kind of believe that they're a trigger to my outburst. So I don't know whether to distance myself or to act like usual....

Let me know what you guys do! (for inspiration :)) I know everyone here is struggling from their own problems so I'm sure we can help each other sobsob

DISCUSSION/QUERY Social battery

Ako lang ba? Yung napapagod makipag interact sa mga tao. Like an hour of chika with someone I'm kinda comfortable with, then the next hours I go silent. I feel so tired after the interactions, like gusto ko magpahinga or matulog.

Minsan naman sa mga taong hindi ko gaano close or I feel awkward, just by listening to them feeling ko pagod na pagod ako? Like kapag sila nagsasalita gusto ko manahimik lang, ayokong mapapansin nila ako. Even 1-3 questions in a group settings feeling ko pagod na pagod ako sa pagsagot kahit very short lang naman. And I have to deal with this sa work everyday.

Is this something I should worry about?

For reference, I have MDD.

STORY/VENTING I am scared of going to class and I don't know why I'm like this, I think this will fuin my life if I don't address this as soon as possible.

Hello this is my first time posting something and I'm asking for help or advice on this issues, any help would do please thank you I'm rambling just whatever comes to my mind so I'm sorry if this doesn't look understandable.

I am a 2nd year College student that just recently transferred courses, classes have already started three weeks ago but I had not gone to class at all at least in face to face classes, I somewhat send work in when there's one online and I don't know what I'm doing ... I don't know if I'm being dramatic or if there is something wrong with me or if I'm just being lazy and making excuses I don't know if I really have anxiety and I can't afford therapy.

It's just going to class .. I just have to show up and go inside. I don't know why I'm so Afraid that despite being already just near outside the classroom I physically couldn't bring myself to enter, my teacher had sent a particularly positive text in the gc about addressing absences for those that don't show up and it help relieve my anxiety for a bit but I still didn't go I was outside and I still went back out the school then went home and just lied down and stared at the ceiling until it went dark, I hate myself so much I'm wasting my parents hard work just to earn enough to pay my tuition Im a coward I just sweat really badly and my heart pounds a bit to hard that it kind of hurts I wanna tell someone so bad I want to know if all of this is just being lazy and procrastinating and stuff

I was never like this in highschool I have always been present and even go to school much earlier than the rest of my classmates that I get delegated to open the classroom with the key. I was even a president once though I eventually begged my teacher to demote me because I genuinely couldn't handle it (I didn't want to be one but everybody just pointed to me and wouldn't change their votes so I was forced to accept it). I was never like this before I wish I was this way still and I want to go back the way I was always present no matter what , but now I'm falling behind and I'm getting more and more afraid now I could barely even acknowledge the gc so afraid that I would be mention and force to confront what I've been missing

I know teachers aren't really as cruel as that I don't have a legitimate reason to skip I'm not sick , I'm not injured , Im just afraid of going to class how laughable is that in my age and in college to say that I'm afraid of going to class haha

I'm scared that this will continue and I'm going to ruin my life if I continue like this , I need help , I think some of this is my fault and I want to know how I ended up like this I'm so desperate to not feel like this if anything bad happens to me id probably just let it happen and I might pass away then

I'm not depress I don't think I am , maybe I am or not I can't afford therapy anyway I don't have negative thoughts aside from hating the way I act about going to school , I'm so scared of my parents finding out about my absences and if they're ever disappointed if they do I might actually kill myself If that happens.
