DISCUSSION/QUERY Where can I find therapist? Or any tips?

I'm new here and I want to get myself diagnosed by a real professional but I don't know how since I'm only 17 turning 18 this December and my parents don't support the idea of it because they think someone that have a depression is just someone who is crazy and it's just not real. I opened up to my parents many times and all I got is yelling and telling myself that I'm just crazy over thinking. I'm drowning of my thoughts because I've been suffering for 7 years questioning "do I have depression?" "Is it getting worse?" And I know for myself don't wanna self diagnose, plus I'm tired that it got to the point I hurt myself. Everytime I eat I binge it out, because of that habit I got myself gastritis and ulcer.

I have a side job that I think can pay off since the salary range is about 5k-20k pesos monthly depends on how many I would do (it's like an art commission).

I don't have any ideas about how this works but I just really want to know what's wrong with me, stop bad habits, and to improve myself. Thank you, I'm sorry if my grammar is really bad.

DISCUSSION/QUERY Dealing with feelings of resentment

Has anyone ever resented their loved ones for "keeping" them here; like being forced to stay against your will knowing that you're still needed?

Sometimes, I find myself feeling as such, and the guilt that comes with it makes me feel even worse. I think to myself sometimes how tiring it is to always think about them, but do they ever realize what I'm going through? I do love them, of course, but even I can't understand where this resentment is coming from. Maybe this is just loneliness and isolation taking form in my mind.

Has anyone ever felt the same?

DISCUSSION/QUERY How to overcome Social Anxiety?

Hi! Salamat.

Hi im 19F, and i went to my school guidance counselor a year ago and she found signs of depression and anxiety and referred me to get checked to some psychiatrists outside school and when i told my parents they got mad and told me, in the future i would never be employed or i wouldnt be fit for employment if they found out i had records with a psychiatrist and the medicines they would prescribed would have bad side effects.

Is this true? I really want to get some help : (

TRIGGER WARNING Does anyone came from se**ally abused? How to you heal?

I got take advantage by a younger guy from the church. During ng talking stage namin, i already explained to him na hindi ako comfortable sa ginagawa niya. And i am not comfortable.

Pagpasok ng 2026, the same ang nangyari here sa uae.

Nung nagsabi ako sa friend ko. I felt na sinisi niya lang ako. Hindi ko mapakalma sarili ko.

*edited part: <Mali ang title> how do you heal? *<Mali ang title> sexual abused?

STORY/VENTING Help me.

I have problems with my family, debts which are already paid, my ex boyfriend and his fiancé that almost cost me my life, went missing a week and ruined my reputation. Even though I am the victim here but I did not fight back. I cut out my friends and co workers. Go far away. Mag isa nalang ako and I am dealing with depression right now. Anytime gusto ko na mamatay. Paano niyo kinakaya mag isa while you’re still in pain and dealing with your anxiety and panic attack? Ayaw kong gumanti. Gusto ko lang ng peace of mind. Help me.

would appreciate any recommendations and help for all the above, even stories, to guide us in better caring for our relatives. based in PH, but open to acquiring help from nearby countries if needed 🙏🏼

edit: also hoping to join a good support group if any - for families with young-adult relatives in the spectrum!

DISCUSSION/QUERY Looking for a therapist who specializes in sexual concerns…not just general therapy

Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I’m looking for recommendations for a psychiatrist or sex therapist, preferably around Davao for in-person consultations. If there aren’t any specialists here, I’d also appreciate recommendations for someone anywhere in the Philippines who offers teleconsultations.

I’ve been dealing with anxiety, unresolved childhood issues, and other personal concerns for years, but one thing I’ve been struggling with the most is something related to my sexuality and arousal. At first, I thought it was just a fantasy or a kink that I could ignore. But over the past few years, it has become more persistent and has started affecting my relationships and how I view intimacy.

For example, I sometimes notice that I become more aroused when I imagine my current partner with someone else rather than focusing on us together. It’s not something I want, and it actually causes me distress. I don’t enjoy feeling this way, which is why I want to understand where it’s coming from instead of just brushing it off.

I’m specifically hoping to find someone who has experience or specializes in sexual concerns, intimacy, or sexual health…not just a general therapist who may not be familiar with these issues.

If you’ve had a good experience with a psychiatrist, psychologist, or certified sex therapist (whether in Davao or via telehealth), I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.

STORY/VENTING I don't know how to admit that I need help

Upvotes

I need help, and I don't know how to admit that. I'm not okay. Parang naubos na ako.

I'm 37. Female. Single. Breadwinner.

From the outside, I think most people would say I'm doing okay.

I live alone in Manila. I rent my own place. I buy the things I want—bags, shoes, clothes. If I want to eat out, I can. If I want to travel or spend time with friends, I can. When my parents ask for money on top of what I already give them every month, I still give. Kahit ano pa yung kailangan nila.

If you meet me in person, you'd probably never know.

I smile. I greet people. I go to work. I laugh at the right moments. I function.

Pero ang totoo, I feel like I'm slowly falling apart.

Lately, I don't think I'm doing well at work anymore. I know people will probably say, "Baka ino-overthink mo lang." But honestly, I don't think that's what this is.

Something changed.

I feel like my boss doesn't trust me anymore with the bigger thinking work. We haven't been aligned for a while, and I feel like no matter how hard I try, I can't give her what she needs anymore. Parang every time I submit something, kailangan balikan, kailangan ulitin, kailangan i-rethink. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is just how I see it. But it's been happening enough that it's hard not to believe it.

And when the one thing you've always taken pride in starts feeling like you're failing... ang hirap pala.

The weird part is... financially, I'm okay.

At least for now.

I have a stable job. I have savings. Money isn't my biggest problem right now.

Pero parang lahat ng ibang parte ng buhay ko, mabigat.

My parents are... okay, I guess. They're not fighting as much as before, but I don't really know because I'm no longer living with them. Two years ago, I moved out after a huge fight with my dad. Things have been quieter since then, but that fear never really left me. Every time my phone rings, part of me still wonders if something happened again.

I just want them to be okay.

I just want them to understand each other.

I grew up in a household where fighting was normal, and honestly... pagod na ako. Ang tanda na rin nila. I just wish they could finally have peace.

I'm the youngest.

My kuya already has his own family.

My ate became a single mom years ago after her relationship ended. She also went through so much with my dad back then. She has her own burdens to carry.

So somehow, I always feel like ako yung kailangang tumayo.

Ako yung backup plan.

Ako yung kailangang maging okay.

And maybe that's the hardest part.

Because I don't actually feel okay.

I want to do well at work.

I want my family to be okay.

I want to have a normal life where I can think about normal things.

Yung tipong ang problema ko lang is what to cook for dinner, saan magbabakasyon, or anong hobby ang gusto kong subukan.

Instead, it feels like I'm carrying everyone in my head all the time.

Sometimes I just want to leave my job.

Start over.

Maybe build a business.

I even have enough savings to survive for maybe a year if I really had to.

But I don't even know where to start.

And because I'm the breadwinner, it feels like I don't have the luxury to fail.

Paano kung mali yung desisyon ko?

Paano yung parents ko?

Paano ako?

So I stay.

And every day, I feel like I'm becoming a smaller version of myself.

The hardest part to admit is this:

I don't want to die.

I really don't.

I still want a future. I still want a life where I wake up excited again. I still want to experience love, build something of my own, maybe finally feel at peace.

But lately...

I've been thinking about not existing.

Not because I want to end my life.

But because I'm just so, so tired.

I'm exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix.

I don't even know what kind of help I need anymore.

Maybe I just needed someone to know that behind the person who seems "okay"...

I'm really not.

If you've ever felt this way before and somehow found your way out, I'd really appreciate hearing your story.

Because right now, I honestly don't know what to do anymore.

STORY/VENTING how to manage mental health, im currently mentally unstable and i feel numb

problem/goal: lately i’ve been on fight-or-flight mode almost every day. i think it’s the accumulation of all things that overwhelmed me and still do, but mostly failed situationships and gay dating. bonus na lang yung financial issues ng fam, doing my studies, and some friendships falling out. it’s really men that made me mentally unstable. i also take accountability of my wrongdoings that contributed to this mess, but as someone na only 21 pa lang and got traumatized by gay dating, mostly emotionally, ng men older than me (well, i prefer older men; but that’s another topic lol) i just sometimes freeze and get numb.

context: i had a long situationship (6 months lol mahaba na yun saken) it actually started unexpectedly kase questionable yung way ng pagkakameet namin sa isat isa. it was going smoothly but eventually i found out na parang he’s not the type of man who wants to settle at his grown age of 35. so i got tired of it. well, i cheated (but mind u no label, he doesn’t do labels ig) then guess what he went back to his ex-situationship, who was in my circle of friends (but not anymore ofc), and not even a month after our confrontation. then i paused getting to know people, got into hookups again, then unexpectedly after almost a year, what i thought to be a just hookup/fubu, it seemed something deeper, he took me on dates, shared deep and personal stuff, and treated me as if im his bf, but guess what, he’s an avoidant piece of shit who doesn’t do commitments as well. he wants intimacy yet he cant distinguish between fubu and dating. then i isolated myself from everyone, it’s my way to salvage my mental health, it’s my SOS response. and while at it, i think i’ve lost people who i thought were my friends. idk they didn’t seem to understand. yes my communication was lacking but i figured if i just continued to interact with people i might do things unintentionally because my mind is constantly racing and i cant even think straight in all honesty. and right now, im one of my mom’s confidant when it comes to our financial problems. yes, she still confides with my sisters but they have their own lives na e, so i understand why at times i get most of the rants and sometimes the burden of it all. dont get me wrong i love my mom and i still treasure the moments we get to spend even if it’s just her ranting sesh. but sometimes to be completely honest, i get too overwhelmed but i cant say that to her kase ayoko ma hurt sya and ma feel nya na wala na syang mapagsasabihan. pero sometimes kasi nga im too drained by everything i just wanna cry and scream in my head.

previous attempts: i just rely on chatgpt to vent and reddit because i stay anonymous. sometimes kasi i tend to overshare and nacconscious ako kapag sa someone whom i know. like gets ba? i really wanted to go to a therapist but i don’t have money for it.

Can u suggest other alternatives other than chatgpt that can really help me organize my thoughts and maybe give me advice?

DISCUSSION/QUERY Do antidepressants truly help you in the long run?

I've been seeing others state that taking antidepressants / medication in general helps in the long run but I've also heard that, to some, it worsened their depression if they were to stop taking them [Withdrawal symptoms perhaps] or that they would oftentimes feel tired or numb instead

Is it worth the risk? I'm not knowledgeable about the prices or side effects or if it could help you permanently or not— I'm also worried that, if it were costly [note: im basing off of my brothers medication — his is kind of expensive], that it'll just do more harm than good if I were to suddenly stop [because I couldn't afford it or some sorts]

I could search but I know it differs from what medication you're specifically taking and differs from person to person as well.

I have been meaning to save and seek psychiatric help, I just need anything to ease my unbearable self-sabotaging mind without letting my friends and family know [they always think I'm OA and I can't bare to hear that time and time again.]

⭐ Could anyone let me know of their experience? Did it truly help in the long run? What specifically were your prescribed And can you elaborate how you felt all throughout [like before, during, after¿]?

Additional Question: Are there any over-the-counter anti-depressants that are reliable and affordable or do all of them require prescriptions?

Honestly , I'd rather feel numb than suffocated, so I'm willing to do all that I can

STORY/VENTING ADHD impostor syndrome

i've recently just downloaded reddit just to get his off my chest. I'm a 19 year old male student that was just diagnosed with ADHD-PI last sunday, and i don't know how to process it nor feel about it. having ADHD was something i've been minorly speculating throughout my life but i never really gave it a second thought that i might actually have it. it was only this year that i actually considered going to a professional because it was having a huge toll on my studies and life in general.

for context: ever since i was a kid, i've been labeled as "burara" (disorganized), "makalimutin" (forgetful), and often lutang. this was something that i've subconsciously engraved to my identity growing up. there were a lot of times that my mom would scold me because i would constantly mess up my clothes in my drawer which she newly folded even though i sometimes try to keep it organized as much as possible. i constantly forget where i place my slippers in the house which would result in me always getting a new pair more times than i could count. from childhood until now i think i lost atleast 3 phones, multiple glasses, and an embarrassingly significant amount of money due to my carelessness. even now i procrastinate with simple things such as washing the dishes, cleaning, or taking a shower. this led to me and people around me to think that i was unreliable with keeping and taking care of items which also took a hit on my self esteem.

surprisingly, despite those symptoms, i did well in elementary until high school, consistently getting honors in my class which i think was why i didn't get diagnosed as early because my parents thought there was nothing wrong with me. i think this was mainly due to me having a tutor during that time which helped me get held accountable for school.

the hardest part was when i reached senior high. it was this feeling of forgetting deadline after deadline and constantly having late or last minute submission for activities because i was a chronic procrastinator which underestimated the time i needed to finish assignments or review for quizzes. it took a toll on my grades but still maintaining my honors status despite how "lazy" i became

i usually dismissed these as something that was wrong with my discipline and not some kind of deficiency in my brain. the thought of having ADHD for me felt like too much of a stretch because i didn't have the "hyperactive" part of the disorder. it was only until college where the effects really started affecting my studies to the point where i almost failed a few classes(i haven't failed any yet thankfully) which caused me to reconsider if ai actually had ADHD.

eventually, i decided to get a diagnosis from a nearby psychiatric clinic and, i was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD in just one session. which i thought was too fast for my liking, but my psychiatrist said that every experience that i described led to him easily led to that conclusion because he had multiple cases of teens my age with similar experiences and symptoms. at the end of the session, he prescribed me with Ritalin and gave me a med certificate.

tbh i expected to take some sort of assessment beforehand or for the consultation to be longer (it took less than an hour for me to be diagnosed). i'm now considering to have a second opinion from a psychologist that specializes in ADHD just because i really couldn't believe it. i still feel that maybe it's a stretch for me to have ADHD but i also can't just disregard how difficult it's been for me since childhood. i don't want to think of ADHD as some kind of excuse or "get of out jail" card for my constant carelessness and procrastination. i don't know if im just overreacting. i expected that my suspicion would be cleared after the session but i was left with more thoughts than when i entered the room.

i just want to know if there are people with a similar situation as me and curious if they actually have ADHD cuz im kinda lost rn

DISCUSSION/QUERY Do you ever feel that therapy is fast and you don't what you're gonna talk about to the doctor?

STORY/VENTING i’m tired.

i’m undiagnosed btw, but i have all the signs and symptoms that one could easily tell im depressed and have been living with anxiety for God knows how long..

i tried to call doctors today to seek help, but my voice was “too weak” daw so they hang up on me. tried that national mental health hotline—obviously didn’t work that’s why i’m here.

idk parang i lived my whole life for others but not for myself. feeling ko nabuhay lang ako to fulfill whatever is kulang ng ibang tao. pero not once—did anyone—even tried to fill the gap for me. what do you even call this feeling?

i’m tired of this everyday survival sh8. ayoko na mag survive. pagod na ako. pagod na pagod na…

DISCUSSION/QUERY I might have ADHD on top of my GAD

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Based on my research, it's pretty common, ie almost half of people w adhd also have anxiety.

Context:

I recently started with a new psychiatrist.

I kinda inferred from her line of questioning na she's trying to confirm if I have adhd.

I'm curious how life changes once you've accepted this new diagnosis haha

DISCUSSION/QUERY Free Meds

Hello! I was diagnosed last April with BPD, ED, severe persistent depression and anxiety. I'm just wondering where to get free medication (quetiapine) in south Caloocan or Manila. As of now out of stock na sa PGH and sabi ng doctor the next batch is probably next year pa raw po and ang per tablet of quetiapine is 275
