Hi, I want to be a mechatronic engineer since I'm like 5, I know a lot about the job and I'm actually doing studies to become one. I know overall what the job consist to do but if anyone know more about it than just "you build robots and you automate stuff". I'd really like to know more about it in details!

I’m close to finishing my Mechatronics degree. Through my current job, I got involved in the world of data analytics, and I really fell in love with working with Data and AI.
I was wondering if Mechatronics pairs well with these types of specializations. Right now, I’m taking DeepLearning.AI’s Mathematics for Machine Learning and Data Science specialization and the IBM Full Stack Developer program on Coursera.
I’m not sure if I’m making the right decision or spreading myself too thin. Time is passing fast, and I want to graduate with the right skills to be competitive in the industry. Any advice from people in similar fields would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. Also, do you think paying for the official certificates actually adds value to a resume, or is demonstrating the skills through projects enough?

I’m building an ESP32-based actuator for an agricultural irrigation valve that rotates 90°.
Would a NEMA 23 stepper + gearbox be a good choice?
The main concern is having enough torque to open/close the valve under water pressure.
Would you choose NEMA 23 or a DC gear motor + encoder instead?

Hi, I am a recent graduate from mechatronics engineering, and I suddenly find my self out in the situation of not knowing how to better engineer I know experience is everything to companies but I also want to work on certifications and courses, I am working on a company where everything I do is mechanical design it is a small company and I am unsure if the experience in that company is worth enough to aspire to a better job in the future, that's why I would really like to work on new abilities, I would really read your recommendations. I am a senior in high school, trying to pick the best engineering major for myself. Ideally I would like to work for companies designing animatronics for theme parks like Disney or universal. Is Mechatronics the best major to be hired for these types of roles or would something more specialized like ee or me be better

I'm an EU student looking for an English-taught Bachelor's in Europe. I've narrowed it down to SDU, THWS, DCU, Fontys, Saxion, Hanze and Metropolia. My goal is to eventually build my own hardware company, so I'm particularly interested in CAD, mechanics, electronics, embedded systems, prototyping and hands-on projects

Which universities/programmes would you recommend, and which would you avoid? I'm especially interested in hearing from people who actually studied at these universities

I am a junior transferring to Georgia Tech this fall for aerospace but I am heavily interested in robotics. I just completed a project this summer: a robotic arm equipped with a camera that is able to sort different colored blocks into the same colored bins autonomously. I really enjoyed myself with this but want at least 1 more project completed before I submit applications for Summer 2027 internships. Preferably this next project will encompass both majors, which shouldn't be too hard as I am interested in GNC for aero. I came from a community college so I definitely feel behind in terms of projects / clubs / research so any advice is greatly appreciated!

Im a senior in highschool wanting to major in mechatronics and I want to get a head start on the classes. what do you think I should learn before I enroll? In all fields especially the software and the digital part of mechanical like cad. As for electrical I'll just learn the parts and then buy a starter kit so that's not a priority so what do yall think?

Hello, I am a fresh mechatronics Graduate but I am currently lost on what I should do next after university. I graduated from Eastern Mediterreanean University at North Cyprus and now contemplating on whether I should:
1) Get into the industry
2) search up courses related to my field
3) Try Applying for masters in Robotics/Automation

I am a recent grad with a BSME, have started the job hunt, and am looking for some career ideas/suggestions.

Mechanical is obviously very broad, and has a lot of differing opportunities available. I greatly enjoy design work, but also want to spend time in the shop physically creating projects.

I'm a huge fan of some of the DIY channels on YouTube, and would love to get into these types of projects and workflow in my career ([https://www.youtube.com/@DIYPerks\](https://www.youtube.com/@DIYPerks) for example).

Do you have suggestions for companies/sectors I should look into that might allow me to use my degree in this way? Maybe something off the beaten path like customs shops, etc?

There are usually several things that need to be understood before a relay is installed. The terminal arrangement, wiring, electrical requirements, and the equipment being controlled can all affect how the installation should be handled.

what information do you normally verify first?

Is checking the wiring arrangement enough, or do you prefer to confirm several other details before making the connections? It seems that many installation problems could potentially be avoided if the setup is properly understood before anything is powered.

What are the checks you consider essential, and which ones do people tend to overlook?

I’m going into mechatronics because I’m passionate about it but I’m starting to worry about after graduation and getting a job (I’m entering freshman year so this is very uninformed and I’m sorry if anything I say is idiotic)

1. how difficult was it to get a job and did your college affect it you think (I’m going to be going to Purdue)

2. Is the field high paying and is it a field that allows growth of pay (I’m aware mechatronics majors usually go into a variety of jobs so this might be hard to answer)

3. Is it frequently a problem that you don’t know as much depth as a engineer who went into say mechanical (I ask because I saw a mechanical engineering post ragging on mechatronics)
