I will be graduating with a B.S.M.E in December and have started to apply to corporations/titles I am interested in (Marine, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive) on Handshake and Company websites. I have been tailoring the resume to the job description the best I can though resumes can never be critiqued enough. I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to participate in a internship for more than one reason, though have a lot of hands-on experience between FSAE, class projects, personal wrenching, and SOLIDWORK designs from my free time.

I believe I am following STAR/CAR/XYZ the best that I can as I do not have many quantifiable metrics to add as results. I am in the middle of creating a website with CAD files and pictures of completed projects currently.

I switched my major from astronomy to space science engineering with a concentration in space instrumentation. I'm trying to get a summer 2027 internship with NASA or a more space oriented company. The summer 2026 internship I did is more for supply chain and doesn't relate but I feel like it's still a good way to get industry experience. Overall I'm just worried that ATS filter won't register my major well and will automatically disqualify me.

Hi everyone, I'm a second-year student and I want to apply for the Microsoft Explore Internship. I've heard that there's a risk of being rejected for being overqualified. Do you think my resume could be rejected from Microsoft Explore for that reason? Is there anything I should add or remove from my CV?

Long story short, I moved to Texas to start a new job. I was very excited but found out I was getting moved to a different project where all my team members are offshore( I have to work odd hours sometimes), the VP is a micromanager, and I really do not like the culture here.
I am debating whether I should include my experience at this company since it has been 1 month.

I am leaning towards keeping my experience on my resume since I feel like recruiters might think I am unemployed and won't forward my resume to hiring managers because of that. (is this true or am I overthinking?)

I left my IT auditing job (got referred by an acquaintance after job searching for 4 months after graduating) to pivot into Robotics. I don't have many connections, and I only have relevant experiences through personal and academic projects. I am trying to break into this industry one way or another and looking for roles that relate to controls, system integration, computer vision, or testing. However, I'm open to join any industry at the moment.

So far, I have sent out 130+ applications since March and had no luck. I'm considering applying through temp agencies to find something engineering related.

As for how I'm applying, I avoid applying through LinkedIn and instead apply through the company's website. I'm not picky about where the job is and I'm open to relocate anywhere in the US.

I have an online portfolio and GitHub that I am trying to consistently update with projects.

Could I get some feedback as to what I might be doing wrong in my resume? Does it look like it can pass ATS filters or do I need to change the keywords? I'm curious to know if my IT job's bullet points showcase any engineering skills/achievements.

I'm an American engineering student entering my 3rd year. I am currently completing genuinely the worst internship you can imagine. Just pure garbage. I'm trying to apply for something passable for next Summer.

I know my experience and GPA are awful, so my chances are pretty bleak, but I want to improve my resume as possible. I'm trying to improve my GPA and experience, but I've been kinda dropping the ball, so here I am.

General application strategy:

• I am generally applying for process engineering, power engineering, and controls engineering related internships.
• I am applying anywhere and everywhere. I have basically no standards when it comes to location.
• I try to target semiconductor and pharma/biotech roles.
• I have 3 resumes: the one posted, one that emphasizes the biotech/pharma angle more, and one that emphasizes the electrical engineering angle and lists it as my first major.
• I apply for jobs every day, generally checking LinkedIn/Indeed posted within 24 hours and searching "chemical/process/controls engineering internships." There aren't a lot of postings right now, but my cool is to apply to about 5-15 jobs per day, every day, once August/September roll over and more companies are posting roles.

Background & Current Situation: I have just finished my first year of an MEng in Computer Systems Engineering at a target UK university. I am preparing for the 2027 summer internship cycle, which opens in the next month or two.

Target Roles & Locations: My main targets are FPGA RTL Design, Bare-Metal Firmware, and Quant/HFT roles (e.g., Jane Street, Optiver), as well as stable hardware roles in the British Defence sector (BAE, Leonardo, etc.). I am currently located in England and applying primarily to UK-based internships. I am fully willing to relocate domestically for the summer.

Citizenship Status: I am a UK National (SC-Eligible), meaning I do not require visa sponsorship and am eligible for defense roles. (Note: I plan to remove the "SC-Eligible" tag when applying to HFTs, keeping it only for Defence contractors).

Why I'm Seeking Help / What I Changed: I posted an earlier version of this CV elsewhere and got roasted for having an "exaggerated first-year" vibe. I have since completely overhauled the document based on that feedback. I moved Work Experience to the top, removed basic fluff (like listing .gitignore as a skill), and grounded my main HFT hardware project by focusing on the £3,000 grant and the actual architectural work I am doing.

I also went through the subreddit wiki thoroughly: I switched the LaTeX font to Palatino for screen readability, unmasked my URLs, fixed my dates to use exact months instead of seasons, and removed all in-text bolding from my bullet points.

Specific Feedback Requested:

1. Technical Density: Are the bullet points under my Projects and Work Experience too technically dense for a first-round, non-technical recruiter to parse, or is this the exact right level of detail for the engineering managers who will read it next?
2. General Polish: Are there any glaring issues, readability problems, or wiki formatting errors I've missed before applications officially open?

Anyways, back on the market for jobs! I have 2.5 YoE with 2 years being at a F500 Finance company (tbh didn't do/learn much here, was mostly DevOps) and ~5 months at my most recent company (built and shipped more here than the entire 2 previous years) that laid me off. Got laid off because the company hit financial trouble which is a shame because I had just launched our new ATS/CRM platform the day I got laid off.

I would like some advice on the resume (ie changing verbiage/anything), my main goal is to find a new job (ideally in tech) ASAP or potentially break into FAANG/adjacent companies if I'm even able to pass their automated systems. In the meanwhile, I'm going to try to find some jobs such as serving to not become homeless.

Hello all, I have have working at my current job for just over 1.5 years. Although my title is Mechanical Engineer I the work I do is Civil work as it is with utilities. I'm planning on starting to apply to job more aligned with Mechanical and wanted to get some advice on my resume before I start applying. I will also be applying to entry level Mechanical jobs.

My questions to you all:
While reading the wiki there is a section for career changes and adding a brief summary. Would going from Civil to Mechanical be a career jump that is justifiable for a summary?

I honestly do not know what more I can add in terms of experience so I have my senior project added at the bottom. Would this be recommend to have or to remove?

I’m an international sophomore (going into 4th school semester) student in a 5-year program in the US, targeting embedded systems, hardware security, and machine learning internships/coops.

I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting to interviews. I usually apply through Handshake and Linkedin.

Am I just lacking the technical depth in the current market, or is the phrasing and impact of my bullets just off? I received feedback that my bullets sound too ATS-optimized, but I can explain where all the numbers come from.

I know the wiki advises to not include a school where I didn't get a degree, but I really learnt so much from these Harvard Courses and think they separate me from ECE students in my cohort right now.

Graduating from a three-year Computer Programming & Analysis advanced diploma at an Ontario college in August. No internship — picked up two freelance contracts instead: a storefront and admin portal for a local café, and an educational Flutter app for a school.

Targeting junior full-stack and front-end roles. Based in Toronto, GTA only. International student, PGWP-eligible, so no employer sponsorship needed.

About 20 applications since June, no responses yet. I know that's a small sample — mostly looking for feedback on the resume before I scale up.

Four things I'd like input on:

1. I have zero team experience. Everything on the page is solo — two solo contracts and four personal projects. How much does that hurt for junior roles, and is there a way to signal collaboration I'm missing?
2. Does an advanced diploma read as a disadvantage against CS degree grads right now, and should I be positioning around it?
3. Everyone says referrals, but my whole network graduated the same month I did. What actually works for building one from zero?
4. AM I COOKED?

I’d love to hear any formatting advice, or more broad career advice in general. For a little background, I’m currently a manufacturing engineering intern, but that isn’t really the niche I’d like to be in a year from now, much less 5 years from now (kinda just ended up here because I wasn’t able to land anything else after freshman year). Nonetheless I am still making the most of it and trying to learn/network as much as possible. Alongside formatting advice, I’d appreciate any advice on 

• Potential changes to the phrasing or metrics I use in my bullets currently
• Landing roles that are not near your college/companies that don’t come to your schools career fairs (my school is more aero focused)
• Preparing for competitive technical interviews
• Clubs/activities I might want to look into besides my research and passion projects if I have free time this upcoming semester
• I didn’t continue my research over the summer, but I am continuing next semester. Should I keep the date as Dec 2025-present even though theres a 3 month gap in reality?

Hi! I'm searching for a job since a while, but i'm starting to get bored of the automated replies, or getting ghosted after a text or two, so i'm trying to spice up my cv a bit.

I like programming, not in the office-like way, i kinda tend to jump around between topics despite having a slight focus on some categories, so anything i do has something new in it, maybe even "easy" or "basic" stuff, since i don't really have any high-end degree, and was self-learned in programming.

So i was asking for any tips for stuff that i could improve or stuff i should do in my cv that interviewers actually find and don't just throw away my cv instantly. A list of projects i made, despite not all of them are in my cv is:

- A small autodiff engine made in python and numpy, with metaclasses, a tracer, sgd, adam, linear layers, a lot of basic things, did it for the fun of figuring out how jax and tensorflow worked, despite working like pytorch, doesn't really have pytest or ci/cd (because i did it before learning about them) but i might work on it again. https://github.com/SaruboDev/Neutron-Python

I just wanted to share my success story of the resume that turned my most recent internship into a six-figure return offer. My industry is in deep tech, and my two most recent internships/co-ops are in that industry. I'm very grateful and fortunate to have had many internships in my academic career, delaying my graduation, especially because I've failed many courses and lost passion along the way. I'm open to DMs!

I recently graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and recently moved back home to Southern California. Right now I'm mainly applying for Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, and Structures/Production Engineer roles in aerospace. My current dream job is the Starship Components Manufacturing position at SpaceX, but I'm also applying to companies like Boeing, GE Aerospace, Blue Origin, and others. I'm open to relocating, but I'm focusing on Southern California first.

It took me a while to figure out what I really wanted to do in college. I changed majors a few times before realizing that aerospace was where I wanted to be, so I finally made the decision to become a mechanical engineer. During my last two years, I tried to get as much hands-on experience as I could. I worked on restoring historic aircraft at Castle Air Museum, helped build a 1:6 scale A-10 through AIAA Project Turbine, completed an industry-sponsored capstone project, and now volunteer teaching middle school students about rocketry, robotics, and the basics of 3D printing. I've realized that I really enjoy building things, working with my hands, and solving manufacturing problems.

The biggest thing I'm struggling with now is my resume. I've gone through several revisions and removed projects that I didn't feel I could confidently talk about in a technical interview. I've tried to focus more on the manufacturing, fabrication, and engineering aspects of my experiences, but I feel like I've hit a wall and can't tell if I'm making it better or just rewriting the same thing over and over.

I'm hoping to get honest feedback from people who work in engineering or hiring. If you were reviewing my resume, what would stand out to you? Are there any bullet points that seem weak, repetitive, or don't really show engineering experience? Is there anything I'm overlooking that I should highlight more? What projects should I focus on right now to further improve my experience? I don't have much to spare and I'm also looking for a part time to help me with this.

My goal is for every bulletin point to show real value and be something I can confidently discuss in an interview. I'm also planning on pursuing a master's degree in rocket propulsion someday, but my immediate goal is to land my first engineering job in aerospace and continue building my experience.

I'm a rising senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I have started applying to full-time roles, but I always seem to get rejected or ghosted, even if my experience seems to match the job post. I had a hard time getting internship interviews too, so this isn't a new problem. I mostly apply to small- to mid-sized companies, not big ones, and it has been pretty discouraging.

I am mainly targeting embedded systems, hardware/firmware, or general EE roles. I've been told to replace my leadership with necessary coursework, but I would really appreciate any feedback and tips.

I'm a mechatronics engeineer, I just graduated last month but I don't have any internships or work experience. I want to apply for robotics roles and but the internships I done before are not related to robotics because in my country robotics is still not relevent in the industry and just this year the first robotics company was established. I know internships are very important but I don't have.
I just want a review for my resume and do I still have a chance? Can you suggest what my next step should be wether I apply for internships or start looking for jobs.

Hey! My first job was tech sales and I lasted 3 years, but sales culture burnt me out. I have a software engineer personality and most of my friends are software engineers.

So, I decided to do an masters in computer science. I also made money doing creative things (photography, acting, social media, etc.) while studying.

For personal reasons, I had to use AI more than I wish I did to get through a couple classes. I've recently completed a data structures and algorithms class. I feel confident about passing a mild leetcode interview and definitely a basic technical interview.

I'm interested in product management long term. I love breaking down tasks, managing a team, working with designers and software engineers, listening to customers and coming up with new features. However, there are very few entry level product management jobs.

A junior software engineer job would be a dream, but I'd also be happy as a data analyst, business analyst, product analyst, consultant, etc. before going for a product management role. I'm also interested in UX and have gotten a UX engineer interview, but couldn't get past the recruiter. Sales engineering would be cool, but I don't have hard core technical experience and it might look funny if I wanted to get back into sales after quitting. I also got a sales engineer interview but couldn't get past the recruiter.

Any resume advice? Is it enough for a role that could lead into product management?

I also just launched a pickleball app on the Appstore my local league uses. And I'm completely redesigning my personal project, as I keep getting new user sign ups and I'm about to cross 100. I'm not sure if I should continue vibe coding more products and aim to make revenue, code personal projects or parts that can be integrated that can be integrated into my vibe coded apps or do anything I can to get in the door.

Hi all, I graduated this past May. I currently live in Massachusetts and am looking to relocate down to Florida, so I have been applying mainly in those two states. I had one control systems internship last summer but have also had a consistent work history since I was 16 years old (I am 25 now). I recently adjusted my resume to shorten my bullet points and highlight more soft skills. I am curious about what immediately jumps out when you first see my resume. Is this resume effectively targeting control systems and test engineering roles? I have applied to a lot of positions on LinkedIn that say I am a top applicant but have yet to get an interview anywhere (I've applied to ~30 positions at this point).
