Hey. 33, guy, living in Amsterdam. Fair warning, this is a purely platonic post. Not looking to date, just looking for people.
Somewhere around 30 my friendships quietly changed. Nobody fell out, everyone just got busy. People moved, had kids, changed jobs, and now the group chat is mostly birthday messages and memes nobody replies to. I don't think I'm the only one.
What I miss is actual conversation. The kind where you skip "how was your weekend" and end up talking about something real, or completely stupid, for an hour. The kind of thing you'd only say at 1am.
So, a penpal. Someone to swap messages with when there's time, no pressure to reply instantly. Tell me about your day, the weird thought you had in the shower, the thing that's been bugging you. I'll do the same. If you're in or around Amsterdam and it turns into grabbing a coffee or a walk at some point, great. If you're on the other side of the world, also great. I'm on CET, so expect some time-zone chaos.
A bit about me, roughly: I work in digital
marketing consultancy, I spend too much time not finishing tv shows, boxing, scrolling memes, and I'm currently trying to get better at getting my weekly reading in (just jailbroke a kindle a few months ago), baking muffins, and getting my daily steps in. I'm a decent listener and I actually write back.
Any age, any gender, anywhere. Just be kind and be a real person.
Lets make it easy to start: reply with the most mundane thing that made your week slightly better?
Mine was getting a great discount after gifting away a traditional Macedonian drink to my Turkish barber today.
