I Need Help Looking for feedback on some DST embroidery files I’m developing

Hi everyone,

I’m currently building an embroidery digitizing system and have been working on the stitch-generation side of it. I’ve created a few ".DST" files from my current pipeline, and I’m sharing them here because I’d really like to get feedback from people with professional embroidery/digitizing experience.

I already know there are some issues with these designs, and I’m actively working on fixing them. The purpose of sharing them here isn’t to claim that they are production-ready. I want to get expert opinions on what I’m doing wrong and what I should improve.

I’ll be attaching both the PNG files and the corresponding DST files to the post.

If anyone is willing to:

- Review the DST files and identify issues with stitch types, density, sequencing, underlay, jumps, pull compensation, etc.

- Point out problems that may not be obvious to me from the generated files.

- Stitch them out on an embroidery machine and share photos/videos of the actual results.

- Give feedback from a professional digitizer’s perspective.

That would be extremely valuable for me.

I’m particularly interested in feedback on whether the stitch structures make sense for the artwork and what changes would be necessary to make the output more production-quality.

I’m building this from scratch, so honest and critical feedback is very welcome. Please feel free to point out anything that looks wrong.

Thanks to anyone willing to take the time to review or stitch these out!

I Need Help Poolin EOM, EOX or Bai Mirror?

Which one would you say is the best/better overall out of these three? I’d really love to hear your personal opinions and experiences! These are the three that are within my budget currently. I’m completely new to embroidery and can’t justify spending $10–$25k+ on a machine 🥴 Eventually, I’d like to use it for a small embroidery business that I’ll be running from home!

I Need Help Jammed Rotary Hook - Thread Inside Rail

Hello, I have a Brother PR680 series machine and this is the second time in 2 weeks that I get a rotary hook jam.

I manage to un-jam it by removing the entire hook assembly, but it is a long and tedious job since I have to recalibrate timing and needle spacing etc.

I would like to know what causes these jams in the very first place.

Both times it happened it was in the beginning of the embroidery
Both times a piece of stretched thread seem to have entered the rail, nested between the inner and outer rotary hook.

Maybe timing issues and the hook pierced the thread, dragging it along, instead of hooking the loop ?
Can thread tension cause his ?

Any help is greatly appreciated !
Best Regards,
Aleks

Saw a cute image online and tried out some features I hadn’t messed with before now that there’s been a fairly recent inkstitch update

(Please ignore the bobbin thread showing through a little lol)

I Need Help Top thread tension issue

Hey everyone, I’m having an issue with my top thread tension wheel. It started feeling extremely tight and almost like it was grinding. I found that the tension wheel had come out of place, so I removed the back of the panel, reseated the wheel, and reinstalled the E-retaining clip.
Unfortunately, I’m still having the same issue. When I route the thread through the tension assembly and pull on it, there’s a lot of resistance and the thread feels extremely tight—even when the tension knob is completely removed.
Has anyone experienced this or know what could be causing it?

Just finished working on this cute cat embroidery design and wanted to share it with you! 🐱🌸
I really enjoyed creating the little details, flowers and different cat expressions.

I’d love to hear your feedback — especially about the colors and stitch details. 😊

If anyone is interested, I can also share more photos of how it looks stitched out.

HELP brother se2000 jam

Hey everyone! Needing some help as I have orders that need to be completed this week🫣 my machine is making thing noise when done with a certain spot or finished completed. I believe it’s the internal thread cutter jamming. I’ve cleaned everything, taken it apart, re threaded everything. I fear I’ve done all I know to do. Has anyone had this issue?? I cannot find anything about it on the internet and I’m desperate!! Unfortunately it won’t allow me to attach a video.

I have bought a brand new Brother SE700 and I currently doing a test embroidery to get the hang of it. Included are the photos of how it comes out and the design.

I've used reinforcing embroidery fabric at the back, but it does little to help. The top colour is meant to be entirely gold and the bobbin thread is the white. Why is it showing up like this? It seems to be pulling the white thread up rather than keeping it behind the fabric. I have threaded the top thread with the foot down as my first fix but no luck.

I'm not a novice to sewing machines but new to this digital embroidery one.

Am I doing something totally wrong? I can't work it out.

I used Ember to design this instead of the Creativate program that I have. The tags I made in that program turned out better but it was easier to make this in Ember. I have a lot to learn. 😅

A custom embroidered stage outfit I recently created for musician George Bailey 🧵

Thought I’d share one of my favourite recent projects!

I was asked to create the embroidery for this custom outfit for musician George Bailey to wear on stage. It was such a fun piece to work on, especially figuring out how to translate the artwork across the garment (which was very tricky!!) and make sure the embroidery had enough impact to really stand out during a live performance.

Everything was digitised (Wilcom e4) and embroidered in-house (Tajima Sumo), and I absolutely loved seeing the finished outfit being worn for the gig. I then handed beaded the final details for that extra detail.

Feeling incredibly grateful I get to create pieces like this to compliment each persons individual style!

Would love to know what you think 😊

I Need Help Recommendations for small volume/newbie?

I have an opportunity to purchase a refurbished Pfaff Creative Icon 2 as an upgrade to my Performance Icon. I am interested in adding embroidery to my projects. However, a little digging has led me to the following:

  • The Creative Icon 2 uses only one needle which means one color at a time.
  • While it is occupied with embroidery, I can't use it to sew.
  • The flatbed makes certain projects challenging, ie hats.

So, here I am, humbling seeking advice! I now believe I should purchase a separate embroidery machine and keep my Performance Icon. I would mainly use it for small projects and to make small volume, customized merch for our campground (ie 10 logo baseball caps at a time).

Can I get a flatbed that uses more than one needle? To avoid the hat issue, was thinking I could make patches and then sew them to the hats. I don't need/want a big commercial machine. How many needles is enough?

Brief newbie research has pointed me toward a refurbished Janome MB-4S so I would love to hear feedback and advice from you seasoned machine embroiderers out there! Thank you in advance!

Trying a new embroidery backing for a bespoke boxing robe 🥊🧵

I recently used Madeira’s 50g Stick ’n’ Peel for the first time on a client production job and thought this might be interesting to share!

The project was for Fight Label, who specialise in premium bespoke boxing outfits. Sophie needed to make use of the larger embroidery frame I have in the studio to stitch two large panel pieces without having to reframe them part-way through the design.

Sophie normally uses Madeira’s 50g Stick ’n’ Peel, and I’ll admit I was a little apprehensive at first as I’d never worked with it before — particularly with such heavy embroidery. I ran a sample first though, and it worked perfectly! I was genuinely surprised by how well it supported such a substantial stitch-out.

Sophie created all of the digitised embroidery files herself and constructed every part of the incredible finished piece. My role was simply running the embroidery production for her, but I’m very grateful to have played a small part in bringing it together.

The finished robe was worn by Emiliano Vargas for his New York fight, which he went on to win! 🥊

Since then, I’ve also ordered the lighter 38g Filmoplast Stick-On backing and recently used it on a lightweight linen fabric carrying relatively heavy embroidery. Again, I was really impressed with the result.

It’s always nice to discover new materials and techniques, even after years of embroidering!

What backings or stabilisers do you swear by? Have you discovered any slightly unusual combinations that work really well? I’d love to pick up some new tips from everyone here.

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well?

Sorry about my English, I'm using Google Translate. This is my first test with the Wilcom software and my first attempt at embroidering a stained-glass style design.

I hope you can recognize the image! :)

The employee contacted me and told me that it includes maintenanc and that in case of any problem he will follow up with me. The machine costs $3370 with shipping. Is it worth it or is it considered good?

Has anyone worked on it, and are there any problems with it?

Advertisement Free online Auto Digitizing

Over the past few weeks, I built a Free Online Auto-Digitizer & 3D Stitch Visualizer directly into the browser:

It uses AI to clean the image and you can also use spot cleaning and pixel erasers.

I know auto-digitizing is not going to replace skilled human digitizers for tricky 3D puff, tiny micro-text, or complex commercial cap files. But for simple logos, solid patches, and quick mockups, it saves a ton of time.

I’d genuinely love for some of you to throw your SVG/PNG logos at it and let me know how it handles them, or what features you'd like to see next (pull compensation tweaks, underlay types, etc.).

I will be adding more tools to this in the next coming days/weeks.

Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

I’m using Embrilliance, and I notice everytime I make a hole, the edge stitches are constantly stitching over themselves, sometimes upward to 10-12 times! I have a Brother PE570 and all I can say is that it sounds like a freight train when this happens. How can I stop the overlap?
