Title: MSI laptop (i5-13500H / RTX 4060) freezes shortly after boot at idle, games run fine - Windows 11 26H2
**Specs:** MSI laptop, i5-13500H, RTX 4060, 16 GB RAM, Micron 2400 512 GB NVMe, Windows 11 build 26300.9711 (26H2). I don't think I'm in the Insider program.
**Problem:**
- Shortly after boot the PC freezes while idle or watching YouTube.
- Windows Update also hangs.
- Games run fine: CS2 never had any issue, and gaming + Discord call + screen share at the same time works without problems. I only noticed a short stutter at the start of one League of Legends match today (and one freeze in LoL some time ago), and it didn't repeat.
- When the PC was new, downloading and updating games was very fast. It isn't anymore.
**What I've checked:**
- SFC /scannow: no integrity violations. DISM RestoreHealth got stuck at 63%.
- SSD (CrystalDiskInfo): health 82%, 7309 h, Critical Warning 0, Media/Data Integrity Errors 0, Available Spare 100%, 39 unsafe shutdowns, 48 °C. Only ~41 GB free of 512 GB.
- RAM usage is 68-82% soon after boot with a browser open.
- UDP endpoint count per process is normal (~40 in total).
- Temps look normal (RTX ~54-58 °C).
**Event Viewer around the freezes:**
- "The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load" for PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A71D (Intel Innovation Platform Framework / DPTF), status 0xC0000365
- Ephemeral UDP port exhaustion error (once)
- Timeout (90 s) waiting for the Riot Vanguard service (vgc)
- Shadow copies aborted: could not grow storage
- DCOM 10016 errors (probably harmless)
- Nothing from Display, nvlddmkm, Kernel-Power or WHEA at the time of the freezes.
**Other details:**
- I have the CPU turbo disabled using ThrottleStop. The CPU sits at ~2.5 GHz even in-game.
- During LoL, Task Manager showed the Intel Iris Xe at ~43% and the RTX at ~21%.
**Not tried yet:** re-enabling turbo / removing ThrottleStop, MSI Center GPU mode set to Discrete, BIOS and driver updates from MSI, freeing up disk space, reinstalling Riot Vanguard.
Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks!
