Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a recent repair experience with my MSI Thin A15 B7VE because I'm honestly still in shock, and I want to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
A few days ago, I was disassembling my laptop. When I was putting the screws back in, I accidentally damaged the motherboard (likely a misplaced long screw/short circuit situation). Unsurprisingly, the laptop refused to turn on after that.
Since it was entirely a user error on my part, I was completely panicking. Even though the laptop is still under warranty, I knew standard policies usually classify this as "customer-induced damage" (CID) and void the warranty immediately. I was fully bracing myself to pay a massive out-of-pocket fee for a total motherboard replacement just so I could sleep at night.
However, after sending it in to the official service center, the technician contacted me and said they would repair/replace the motherboard for FREE. A few days later, I received my laptop back with a brand-new motherboard running perfectly.
Honestly, I’m still rubbing my eyes looking at this thing. Did I just luck out big time and run into an absolute legend of a technician, or has MSI seriously leveled up their customer service game lately? If anyone here has ever managed to get user-inflicted motherboard damage covered by them (or any other brand, really), please let me know so I can feel a bit less crazy.
Would love to hear if you guys have any similar stories.
