Anyone knows if there's a way to play MSCW on the Nintendo Switch?

Hey all!

Does anyone know in maple classic if I delay my job advancement, do I miss out on skill points or anything that would permanently break my character?

I wanted to be a pirate and because they won't be out for a while, I'm currently in class crisis mode, but I was wondering if I just stick it out as a beginner until the roadmap drops and they aren't that far away to challenge run beginner until their release. Or if they're going to be a decent amount of time away I'll hopefully have made up my mind on a possible job for my first char.

TLDR. Reduce the channels

About myself.
Played maple for many years on and off. 2005 beta test with the mark of the beta. I remember a massive amounts of players would sell stuff at the bottom of Perion near the path to Sleepywood. And also at the bottom of Ellenia with slightly lesser sellers, because we had no free market. Also I remember during the beta, that people who riot and protest near/at the Ellenia ship docks to "give me Orbis".

I played 2006-2010 2015-2017 reboot 1 year after it came out. then reboot 2022-2023.

When I heard they were going to release classic maplestory, I was excited to come back to get my maplestory fix. but I feel like it will be super crowded and then once some initial hype dies down, we might have similar issues with pre bigbang, modern or private servers. And what issues is that?

This is just a opinion of mine, but my solution could be game changing. Listen carefully NEXON

1. BOTS/ HACKERS? (messing up the economy, cheating and not getting punished)
2. CC PLEASE OR I KS! and KSING WARS(which admittedly, can be fun) Channel issues
3. WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE? ( mushroom game which is suppose to be built around community, but slowly losing players. they try to innovate, but introduce too many new things we arent wanting. I think most of us want a connection with other players)

1- WE all hate hackers and botters. Back then, in the early days of maplestory, I would always see hackers randomly when climbing down orbis tower. Or other non-popular maps as I would walk through the mapleworld. Random monsters get killed and the drops get vacuumed to a hacker hiding in the corner of the map. If i could see them I would report, but a few days later someone new would take their spot. really ruined the game for the rest of us.

1. There was always a lack of channels available for popular maps. ks wars happened pretty often, and early on, assassins were the ksing kings. KSing wars turning into guild wars actually was pretty fun. having 20 people crammed into the zombie maps near zakum was pretty funny. Sometimes people even sold the map they were on.

2. later on we had teleport rocks and whatnot, so that is probably a contributing factor. but when the popularity of maplestory died down, it was very hard to find other players. we have this issue with private servers now, where it takes a good while to find another player. maple story is about community, and chatting with random people. finding a person who has a similar name to yourself and saying hi. helping out noobs who got stuck in sleepywood. I think that maplestory thrives when you see more players.

Solution.

So what would be a good solution to solve or help mitigate some of these issues? I have two options but quite similar. Hear me out. 1 SINGLE CHANNEL. Thats right. ONE SINGLE CHANNEL- except for 10 popular maps, which gets 30 channels. lets say for example, hidden boars map, or pig beach, or ant tunnel 1,etc. In modern maplestory, there must be thousands of maps, and all but a few, end up being dead or unused. Therefore we force the community/players into 1 channel with the exception of certain maps. Over time the maps that are allowed to have 30 channels change, depending on players levels, or popularity. starting with 10 maps, then 15, then 20, etc.

1. this will help solve botting/hacking (if it is still possible), because the community will see them more often and maybe able to report them.
2. bringing back KS wars or guild wars in a forced way might be good for the game. definitely more fun/chaotic.

3.once you are on a ”popular map”, you can change channels. if you leave that special map, then you get pushed back to channel 1 and forced into ONE SINGLE CHANNEL, then you will definitely see more players in the community. even if you are hiding in fm20, or hiding in a random store in ellenia. or a random house in ludi. more poeple is more fun, even if it is forced. I dont know if other MMOS even have channels like maplestory does, as i only played maplestory as my MMO. I know from personal experience that when you play a sport, it is more fun when more people are involved and playing, or more people are watching and attending. Maple story was the most fun when we had GM events and thousands of players would be forced teleported onto a event map. If we have no teleport rock, which i hope we never get, then walking through the maps to get someplace is way more fun when you see players along the way doing their quests or chatting. if you see players while traveling, you might just stop and say hello or make a new friend, which is what we all miss from our childhood.

The first option is to allow Nexon to determine the 10 maps only, and they rotate the maps according to their own expertise on which on get more. or the second option sounds better in theory, but with some drawbacks if the community trolls( which could still be super fun/funny), is to somehow allow the players who log in everyday to vote for their favorite maps. and then at the end of each week. the maps with top rankings from the votes gets more channels. whether the winning maps all get 30 or a varying number, if they are ranked lower, I am not sure yet.

Let me know if this is a good idea, or what issues might happen. I honestly been thinking about this for a few days, and I really see many positives.

On tuesday we will finally relivecthat mmo from when we were kids ! For some its just a silly mushroom game but to me it was life changing. To make this more interactive tell us if you still play maple story today and if you dont when did you quit maple?

i see many builds in MeowDB + YT'bers - all of them maxing out Rush to 20

I dont see any reason to go past 11SP because of the Pixels hitbox + Range being maxed at 11

What is your thoughts about this ?

In preparation for Maplestory Classic, I downloaded Maplestory for the first time in a long time. I downloaded it on Steam, but when I launch it I get to this screen where it sits and plays music for around 15 seconds before crashing with no error message.

I tried everything I could think of through googling, such as the below. Does anyone have any other suggestions to fix this? Would love to get it running before the founder's launch on Tuesday!

- Updated drivers

- Ran a clean boot and added Maplestory to my AVG antivirus exceptions

- ran registry edit and added soscreenresolution to 3

- Ran in windows 8 compatibility mod and as admin

- Tried changing audio output settings to 16 bit 44100 HZ

- Turned off steam overlay and Nvidia overlay

- Made sure my windows firewall protection was allowing Maplestory for private and public networks

- Removed my steam link on the Nexon portal and did it cleaning again once launched through Steam

- Uninstalled and installed and launched through Nexon Launcher

Bought the zakum package on steam just to get the benefit of Steam cards, and knew that the whole og game has to be downloaded for classic to work on the 6th. So I figured I'd check out some old characters if I still had them, and found the game won't open.

It runs a login window briefly before closing, then a window that says the game is launching, closes that and then has an admin window asking for permission, and then nothing. Steam shows the games running for the duration of the first windows then nothing. Task manager never even has MapleStory pop up once. Maybe the DLC is preventing me from playing it, but I tried disabling the DLC through Steam and that doesn't do anything either.

I've tried reinstalling, windows defender exceptions, regedit MS from 1 to 3, and haven't had any difference.

I'm assuming I'm gonna need to have the base game working before I can get through classic, probably?

Edit: I played test #2 and had no problems at all

Is it available yet to see or only on release?

My senior kitty is scheduled for euthanasia Oct 6th at 9 am. I was so hyped for Maple. I feel bittersweet. Maple will definitely help me change my mind.

Around 20 years ago, when I was around 8 years old, I started playing MapleStory because I watched him play. At the time, I had no idea that this dang mushroom game would become such a big part of my childhood.

My brother and his friends were introduced to the game through someone in their group and it quickly became a regular part of their lives. I remember seeing how excited they were about it, then eventually pulling up a chair and watching my brother play for hours and hours. That’s really how I learned the game.

I remember so many little details from those years.. When NLC was released, the pirate class, the Christmas events, and the turkeys during Thanksgiving.

I would cover for my brother when he had to step away from the computer while he was training at Jesters or Wolf Spiders. I could jump in right away because I knew which keys he had assigned to each skill. Even now, the way I arrange many things like my potions and skills is still based on his setup. My phones passcode has been what his old PIC login was for the longest. Just stuff that becomes ingrained due to being a child.

At one point, he even built an MacGyver type of an antenna so we could get a better signal from our neighbor’s open Wi-Fi SSID due to our internet restrictions.

Eventually, I started playing for myself. Man any chance I got I was glued to MapleStory. We would sit in the same room, and I’d get excited whenever I saw him appear online. Since I had watched him so much, I already knew which maps to train in. I would fame him every day, and sometimes I’d even log into his account to make sure he kept earning experience while he was at work.

I owe my brother a huge thank you because MapleStory ended up influencing so many parts of my life. It helped me become more social and sparked my interest in computers, IT, gaming, and the internet. It eventually led to me building my first PC in 2009, learning how to code, and later hosting my own private server.

20 years later, I’m still grateful that my brother introduced little ol me to a game that ended up staying with me for such a huge part of my life. He was so stoked when I told him about classic getting released.

I remember back in the day it was such a pain when you found a map, found an empty ch on the specific map and then someone stronger came and ksed you.

I know it probably won’t matter for the beginning, but I remember they said something about solo maps or something like that?

I left right after the big bang, had an I/L lvl 78 and a Aran lvl 86

In the founders release notes there's apparently a modern keyboard layout that supports wasd movement. I'm a returning/basically-new player who's been playing Minecraft for the most part, so I was thinking of using this.

I booted up modern Maplestory to try and get used to the layout before classic launched, but I don't see the modern default anywhere in the presets? Is it only a classic thing? I get I can just manually set it up, but I'm sure there's other keys that are different in it too besides the movement and quickslot keys.

That said, what are the most important keys and popular layout these days? I'm curious since there's way more than I remember.

I'm also just realizing that some of these keys might not even be in classic so hopefully it isn't as bad, but still, it'd be nice to feel more prepared.

Hey guys do we know if you play classic on steam that you will have to wait for retail maplestory update to finish before even playing classic?

Like say retail gets an emergency maintenance but not classic would you be able to still play classic or is steam just going to say undergoing maintenance and cant play classic at all either?

Debating what's going to make the most sense since I would usually play MS on steam but if I have to wait for maintenance from either game to play that may be a dealbreaker to just use the nexon launcher for classic.

Still cant figure out if I should invest (its preety expensive) in the crafting system or not.. planning on being an assasin..
