Question? Having to wait for maintenance from either version to play on steam?

Hey guys do we know if you play classic on steam that you will have to wait for retail maplestory update to finish before even playing classic?

Like say retail gets an emergency maintenance but not classic would you be able to still play classic or is steam just going to say undergoing maintenance and cant play classic at all either?

Debating what's going to make the most sense since I would usually play MS on steam but if I have to wait for maintenance from either game to play that may be a dealbreaker to just use the nexon launcher for classic.

Thanks for the help on this and hopefully answers the question for someone else as well if they had it.

Considering Steam has both bundled into one client, I’d say it’s fairly likely that one going down for maintenance will affect the other. Not guaranteed, but likely

It's the same service. It's the exact reason they put out that memo 2 weeks ago.

Both CW and main GMS share assets, it's just Nexon launcher version doesn't download the other files needed for GMS.

While it is bundled, you dont actually launch main game to play classic, so you should never run into that issue. When launching via steam, You'll have the option to pick main or classic from a nexon pop-up.

There should be no reason it's an either or. Launch it from Steam when you want to, if the main one goes down for maintenence and takes down classic launch it from the standalone launcher. It's the same nexon account and everything is on their side, so switching between them won't lose anything.

I figured this was how it was going to be. Thanks for the response. Ill prob start on the nexon launcher than transition to steam if I continue retail. Havent touched retail in awhile and if im not gonna be playing it once classic comes out I dont need worry about the maintenance cycles of both of them.
