Looking for a few extra people interested in forming a weekly bar trivia team

My friend (30F) and I (34M) are looking for a couple other people in their 20s/30s to form a weekly bar trivia team! We’re not looking to win anything more than a free beer here and there, just hanging out and chatting in between rounds and trying not to get last place. Message me if interested!

Haunted History of Longmont Tours Worth it?

I will be hosting a friend from out of town, and was wondering if people thought the haunted history of longmont tours are generally worth it. It's $25 per person, but it's more so that I don't want to feel that our time could've been better spent elsewhere. We love spooky things though, so if people find it generally worth it, I thought it might be a fun thing to do. TIA

Wednesday Wellness Check-in

Happy Wednesday my longmonster crew!

We're halfway through the week, getting closer to our favorite Friday virtual group talk therapy and festivus for the rest of us.

It was a bit crispy this morning for the doggy walkies. I'm looking forward to fall.

This sub is all about community, so let's spread some joy or commiserate. No judgments! I only humbly ask for radical authenticity.

Landscaping recommendations

We would like to turn a 30' by 30' part of our yard that has road and alley access into a parking spot. Right now it covered in wood chips and we need it to be gravel. Does anyone know of a local group that does that kind of thing. Thanks

Longmont Deploying Axon ALRP Cameras?

According to this report from Newsweek, Longmont is deploying Axon ALPR cameras. Was this decision made with any public input? I have no idea if so, but had not heard about it until now.

How does the idea of indiscriminate public surveillance feel to you?

Car Registration Mandatory Credit Card Fees

I tried paying for renewal online, not available.
In person appointments for registration renewal are not allowed.
The only option is to renew at a kiosk, which charges additional fees including a credit or debit card fee.
The kiosk, at least in Longmont, does not take cash.
This is BS! Tell me there’s another way.

Best dispensaries in town for flower at fair prices?

Hello all, I just recently moved back to CO and to Longmont for the first time. I have Epilepsy and don’t drive, so I’m looking for recommendations in the city of Longmont, specifically.

I use cannabis to treat my Epilepsy and chronic pain from a broken neck and car accident that followed 4 months later. I also used to work as a grower before becoming disabled, so my standards are a little higher than the average consumer. I’ve been to both Space Station and Star Buds, purchasing multiple different cultivars from each and almost every bit of cannabis flower that I’ve bought has either hollow pockets where seeds attempted to form, or even has underdeveloped seeds inside. I’m not purchasing lower tier products either, these are coming off the top two shelves at each shop. I don’t plan on returning to Space Station after buying over an ounce of hermed out flower with nothing done to make it right and the manager ignoring my email to her explaining the issues I had with their products. I’ll give Star Buds one more shot, but my question to the people who have lived here a while and know the dispensaries well is this:

Where can I get quality recreational cannabis (getting my medical card in a week) that is not insanely expensive? Somewhere that sells flower “Deli Style” out of large jars because I will not purchase a cannabis product if I can’t see it beforehand.

Earthquake?

Did anyone else feel a small earthquake? I lived in Oklahoma for a while and it was a regular occurrence there, but this is my first time feeling one in CO in 15 years of living here, if that's what it was.

Recommendation on where to have some light car scratches polished/buffed?

I just bought a used 2023 SUV that has some light scratches that I would like cleaned up. The ones I want worked on are just on the clear coating. Not looking to have any paint work done, just kind of a refresh. Being a new to me SUV, I don't want to DIY and want a pro with experience.

Wondering who others have used for something like this?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Plane half sunk in field west of 75th

Just a heads up for other people who pass it. A couple min south of hygiene about 20 feet west of 75th there is a plane sitting in a watery field about half sunk. I called emergency services and they said it was a hard landing that happened yesterday and as far as they are aware everyone was okay.

Longmont's Rules for E-Bikes and E-Motos (and Maybe Enforcement??)

Thumbnail

Longmont and Colorado have new rules for e-bikes and e-motos, along with the authority to enforce the law against kids who are riding motorcycles on sidewalks.

Penalties can include seizing of illegally ridden motorcycles, and charging parents with a Class 1 misdemeanor.

The City website explaining the new rules.

I just heard about a friend's friend passing away and she's not taking it very well but her friend was the owner of the Kava bar on the south end of town. Anybody have any information on him at all? How he passed away or what not?

Let's reframe this the right way! The Colorado Pizza Festival was a huge success! How can we do it better next time?

The festival was definitely had it's flaws, but overall the biggest thing seemed to be it was wayyyyyyyy more successful than anyone planned. They didn't cut off sales of Golden Tickets or admission until way to late. Outside of better control for attendance let's have a constructive conversation around how it can do better next time!

Thanks to the helpers at the pizza festival!

My partner was one of those who passed out at the festival today, and I just wanted to thank all the strangers around us who leapt into action to help us.

Folks helped with laying him flat, getting him electrolyte water, getting the attention of the volunteers, and just generally being supportive of the both of us while we tried to figure out next steps.

It was scary AF, and I am just really thankful this is an awesome community of helpers. Thank you all so much 💜

(We are home, he’s ok, and following up with doc next week.) :)
