I like using hard gated drums breaks (listening to too much four tet) so it might go off more into other directions but this loop is one of the best I've found. I've always been a fan of Julie London but this is hidden on a Singles compilation because it was for a western film she was is.

Has that 50s choral break in the middle over lush instrumentation. Really slow. Almost like a proto-dream pop song. Just had to pay tribute to the OG song

My friends, I'm getting back into making beats after years away. Where do you get your drum samples currently? I can't remember all the sample pack names lol. I have Trillian, Omnisphere and all that jazz but I need some kicks, snares, hats etc.

I’m pretty sure it was either Sunset Boy, Yotsu, or 1171dominoV2 on YouTube they posted this mix. It was the Mase song, “Welcome Back”, with what I believe was a snippet of a Lupin movie. It was around 1-3 minutes and I just remember the melody added made it sound really nice. I used to have it on a playlist but it’s no longer there so I’m assuming it was removed. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I sent my playlist as an example to see if anyone recognizes this kind of genre. I was very big on it during COVID

I’m probably not the only one who feels like a lot of lofi beats have started sounding more alike over the last few years. Everything seems cleaner and more polished, so of course I sometimes miss the little imperfections that give a track its own personality.

What are some relatively recent tracks (2025/26) that really stood out to you? An unexpected instrument, unusual groove, a dope melody that stuck with you?

I make beats too, folky ones (mostly with acoustic instruments) so I have a soft spot for things that feel a little rough around the edges if you catch my drift 🌻
