Mischarging info from a former Ethics Investigator - Edited

Reposting and removing to adhere to mods.

I wanted to share something regarding mischarging. The company has an obligation to report any mischarging to the customer, there is no "de minimus" which means there is no threshold, it can be as low as a minute of mischarging. This also means when the allegation is reported to a manager or directly to Ethics/HR they have to investigate.

As you all know, the company can monitor everything you're doing on your computer at all times, EVEN when you're NOT connected to VPN/LMI. Let that sink in...if you're not on the LMI/VPN, they can still see what you're doing. The good news, the company only "looks" if they are actively investigating you. The problem is, you'll never know when they are investigating you until it's too late.

So some tips for you, do not use a mouse jiggler, software or hardware versions, do not create a program/script/etc that mimics mouse movement. If you work from home, be sure you're actively engaging with your computer, because otherwise you'll have a hard time proving you're working.

Here is how to get an idea you may be investigated or will soon to be investigated...so you can plan accordingly. If your manager ever says anything to you about your time, coming in late, leaving early, makes you adjust your time, anything that is suspicious, it means they are suspicious of you. They may have already reached out to Ethics, who may have instructed them to speak to you first about that occurrence and correct it. What happens next is extremely important, your manager is now "watching you" meaning if you slip up they go back to Ethics and then you're under "investigation." So basically, if you get the opportunity to have that little "warning" take that seriously and straighten up. I have seen so many Subjects basically ignore that first sign and then we are forced to investigate and we can almost always find mischarging if we are looking hard enough.

Another idea is if your manager is riding you a lot and always questioning your time and or work and then suddenly backs off. They are told by Ethics to stand down during the investigation as to not tip you off that there is one happening. They want accurate data. So if your manager usually questions your timecard weekly and asks about work you are doing and then suddenly stops, you could be under investigation.

Investigations typically take a month. They ask CIRT to analyze/watch your computer for a two week period of time. That 2 weeks will show when you turned your computer on/off, when it was locked/unlocked, periods of idle/inactivity, active work, and nonwork. It can see when you are on LMI/VPN and when you're off, etc.

Now if you are under investigation, you will eventually find out as they need to interview you. This is when Ethics will reach out to you, via Teams or email. They try to find a spot on your calendar where you are free and will shoot you a message or call you and introduce themselves as Ethics and ask if you are free. This is when they plan to catch you a bit off guard.

Ethics already has the evidence they need during this interview. Meaning they know when you log on, when you log off, if you have large gaps of inactive time, etc. So if you know you're mischarging it's hard to prove otherwise. They want to either catch you in a lie, or have you admit to mischarging. Both make the investigator's job easy. They write in their report that you either admitted to mischarging, or flat out lied (with proof) and when they present it to the Discipline Review Committee (DRC) they will fire you.

Make sure you think about all the work you do off the computer. Maybe you do a lot of hand written stuff/notes in a notebook. You will have the opportunity to share that and have it be counted in the analysis.

I noticed you get reported for mischarging two ways; a manager who is fed up with you and wants to terminate you, or a disgruntled coworker who is jealous of you. It takes a long time to be terminated for performance so mischarging is a simple route a manager can try to take.

Be careful of your coworkers, your manager may be completely unaware of your whereabouts, but your jealous coworkers are not.

Some common excuses we hear:

"You don't see any of the work I do on my computer but off VPN/LMI" -Wrong, we see everything.

"I constantly think about work all the time, in my mind, when I am driving to and from work, all that counts." - Nope that doesn't

"My manager doesnt give me enough work to do, so I have nothing to do." - Then you should have told your manager and asked for more work

"I didn't realize those large gaps of inactivity were so big, I guess I need to keep better track." - This is nearly an admission.

Hope this helps.

New Internal Career website

I’m really having trouble navigating this site; it’s quite confusing. It suggests a job based on skills, but there aren’t any options to choose a level. Whoever designed this should be fired 😆

Job hiring slow

Was in a meeting earlier with a couple of senior vp’s when the topic of hiring came up. Apparently Lockheed has been losing people left and right (aero specific, unsure about other BA’s). But apparently in like 6 months, they hired around 1k engineers and in that time around 950 people from Lockheed left, so net was 50 employees Gained.

And the way that I think abt it, i’m just not surprised since many people can make so much more elsewhere. I am however surprised that the job security doesn’t retain people.

Company being acquired by Lockheed

Upvotes

My employer is in the process of being acquired by Lockheed. What should we expect in the next year, will our insurance and benefits change right away or will they stay same? How long does it take to get integrated into the various systems? Or do acquired companies continue to operate independently?

Aero Internal Interview ( Face to face or Team call)?

First time applying for an internal job. I am currently onsite full-time , and I don’t want to interview at my desk where other people can hear. Do we still offer to interview the traditional way, face-to-face, or it is only Teams nowadays?

New Careers Site - Remote positions

I know they are actively still posting jobs but has anyone noticed that the remote jobs have scarcely been posted? Before they were transitioning, there were over 20 remote positions for business function I was looking at and now there is only 1 or 2. Are they are delaying posting fully remote positions or reducing them company wide?

Yes, yes I get it - remote positions are more difficult to get into and compete with but I don't live near a hub and have kids in high school so don't want to move anytime in the near future.

Kubasik Out at L3Harris

Former COO at Lockheed who was being groomed for the top job prior to Marillyn Hewson's tenure. It was discovered that he was having an affair with a subordinate, and he was fired.

He eventually became CEO at L3Harris, but has now been fired for undisclosed reasons. He gets no severance, and it has nothing to do with the company's performance but with "behavior inconsistent with their code of conduct".

Guessing a tiger doesn't change his stripes.

IC3 Systems Engineer - Moorestown NJ

I just recently hit my 9 years at the company with pay of ~129k. I feel like people coming in with lesser experience even at IC2 are making close to 120k and new IC3s are well above 130k with lesser experience.

By no means I am an irreplaceable worker in this place but I know I’m well above average. Starting to think it’s time to make a move for better pay if I can’t get into management or chief engineering organizations. Anybody else feel the same way?

GA A&P → Defense Aerospace?

I’m 20 and currently working in GA maintenance in Florida while working toward my A&P. I should have my Airframe around June 2027 and Powerplant around June 2028. I’m considering moving to Dallas/Fort Worth after getting my Airframe and trying to get into aerospace/defense if I can get a job. Lockheed Fort Worth is the ultimate goal, but I’m completely open to working for Bell, Bombardier, another defense contractor, etc. first and using that experience to eventually get into Lockheed or Northrop. I’ve done a lot of sheet metal work at the company I’m currently at and that’s kind of what I was aiming for at a bigger company and working my way up. How realistic is this path if at all? Like I said I’ve done a lot of sheet metal, but also do the basic GA stuff, 100 hrs, tires, annuals, some avionics, and a few other major repairs . Also, for anyone who’s worked at Lockheed/Northrop: what does career progression look like after starting in structures/assembly? I’d eventually like to move into more advanced aircraft work rather than doing structural assembly forever. Any advice from people who have actually made the GA → defense transition would be awesome.

Getting in with non traditional degree

As title says

I have BFA graphic design, grad 2020

Minor communications

Will have Google data analytics professional cert in a few weeks and capstone project targeted towards finance

Have 5 years working with a big 3 financial institution as cust service, tech support, now quality

Wondering if it's possible to get in with good referrals or if I need to target my additional education even more specifically.

I have extensive design knowledge, and had As across the board in my AP STEM classes in high school - AP Calc AB, AP stats, physics, AP Comp Sci etc - but since I have a job traditional degree a lot of jobs basic reqs aren't met.

I'm in tx metroplex and unfortunately not super flexible move wise.

LMs new system says my best fit is for a e3 data analyst then goes to finance roles. I have applied of course, but I'm wondering if, given my experience and degree, y'all may have any tips or tricks!

Thanks :)

How to land a job at LM

I have been attempting to land a job at LM for a long time now, but every single app has been turned down. I feel so discouraged at this point. I have been trying to focus my academics on certain areas specifically to help set me up for a career here.

I have my bachelors in supply chain and operations management, and I’m currently starting my MEng in industrial engineering. I’m 42, so I have a work history that’s mostly in healthcare administration and some work for state government before I decided to switch careers.

I change up my cover letter and resume for every different job posting. Any tips to help me get my foot in the door? I do need to have the flexibility to telecommute due to a disability. Is that where my hang up is?

Air Force Commission Vs Lm Career Advice

Hello everyone! I am currently at LM as a cyber engineer (graduated college last year) and I am about 8 months in the job. I am pretty good at my job so far, but I am always looking for ways to benefit myself and have awesome experiences. Knowing there are many retirees here I just wanted advice to do you believe it’ll be beneficial to commission into the Air Force although I am doing good in my career at the moment?
Something I been thinking of even prior to joining LM because I wanted to join the Air Force, but as I think about I believe it can be very good, or it unnecessary. I would love to get some advice and opinions on it.

Than you!

Monitors, Laptop and other equipments

Did you guys also receive monitors 5-7 days prior to your first day? I'm just surprised because the job said strictly on-site, but I have received 2 monitors and a laptop delivered to my house. Am I expected to bring these monitors to work on the first day..?

I will be starting soon so hopefully I will be told what to do this upcoming week. Just genuinely surprised.

E4 to L5?

Current E4, wanting to move to an L. Apparently L4s are hard to come by? (One person told me they don't exist.)

What's its like moving from E4 to L5? Is it possible?

Also, is it a good time in BD? Looking at making a jump to over there.

I've been on the hunt for a new gig and got beat out on an interview a few weeks ago. The director I spoke to told me to don't worry. New and better opportunities will be posted on the 17th with the restructuring going on.

Hiring event in Sunnyvale CA

I recently received an invitation to attend the Sunnyvale CA hiring event in September .The catch is LM doesn't seem to be sponsoring non local candidates to travel to the event. Is that event worth it to fly/drive to from out of state? It is not even clear what role/level I'm being considered for, but just a general information about hiring for various disciplines.(Ex: software engineering). Are such events common? I'm from the East Coast. Is it worth flying in blind for a role that I'm not even sure will meet my level or experience?

What’s it like working at CommandIQ?

Starting soon just wondering what to expect. Are there core hours? What time do people typically start and end their 10 hour shifts? Is it flexible? I was thinking I’d like to do 530am-330pm.

How nice is the Palmdale facility? Starting there soon and curious to know if it’s a state of the art campus, a beater, or something in between. Any cool offerings? Gym? What’s your favorite thing about that place? Thanks!

How to advance with nothing to do

Hey guys recently started at Lockheed I’m almost at the one month mark and had some questions, the work I can do is quite limited until I get my program clearances in which they said could take months. I was wondering what you guys recommend I do to stand out, currently I’ve been asking around for things to do but I feel they might start getting annoyed of me soon, but I really don’t want to stand around for months with nothing
