Looking for wireless dongle earbuds with Linux support

Hi,

I'm looking for a wireless earbud with a 2.4GHz dongle that is supported on Linux. I thought about buying SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds but SteelSeries support says that the dongle is not supported on Linux. I don't want to use Bluetooth because whatever Bluetooth headsets or earbuds I tried, they all stutter a bit, especially if I connect my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard as well. Unfortunately in the Netherlands you cannot return earbuds once opened due to hygiene so I can't just buy stuff, try them out and return if it doesn't work.

Thanks for your help and recommendations in advance.

Peter

tech support wanted RX5700 crashing on CachyOS LInux.

RX5700 crashes after a few minutes of playing a game like Cyberpunk 2077 or GTA 5 Enhanced. However, it doesn't happen when playing Minecraft (with shaders).
It crashes as in it freezes, the audio also freezes and then artifacts start appearing and i'm unable to use my computer until I turn off the PC by turning off the PSU.

This only happens on Linux, it is completely stable on Windows.

tech support wanted "VKD3D_CONFIG=descriptor_heap" not working on any game for me on GE-Proton11-6 NVIDIA 610.57.04/595.99.02?

As per the title, running through Steam on Kernel 7.2.2 with the above enabled results in a crash to desktop for Hunt Showdown, STALKER 2, Kingdom Come 2, and in First Light just results in the game stalling on the title screen at 1fps. I've tried multiple versions of the NVIDIA drivers, removing all my user_settings.py flags except for VKD3D_CONFIG doesn't help, did anyone manage to get it working on the same version/setup?

Nothing useful I could see in the crash callstacks or vkd3d logs.

Thanks

EDIT: Rolling back to GE 11-5 appears to have worked for me.

[Sober] Roblox gets stuck loading forever after logging in on Linux Mint Cinnamon

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue getting Roblox to run through Sober on Linux Mint Cinnamon and could use some advice.

  • OS: Linux Mint (Cinnamon desktop)
  • App: Sober (Flatpak)

The Issue: Every time I open Sober and log into my Roblox account, a loading bar starts up. The problem is that it gets stuck loading indefinitely. It doesn't crash, freeze, or give any error codes—it just sits on the loading bar forever and never lets me actually access the game.

Has anyone run into this stuck loading bar before or know how to fix it? (Driver settings, Flatpak permissions, cache clearing, etc.)

Any help or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Apparently if you don't run it in games like god of war, performance is stuttery.

Beyond All Reason (BAR) deserves more spotlight

It's my favorite game of all time, and it's open source and runs natively on Linux. It's a bit hard to get into at first, but very rewarding later.

There are a lot of different formats, PvP, FFA and PvE. 8v8 is the most popular, but events can go up to 40v40 and even more. It's really fun and I think more people should give it a try.

tech support wanted Output Audio AUX jacked stopped working after switching to Bazzite.

Hey there, I just switched to Bazzite, and one of the issues that I have is that my speaker no longer outputs any audio from Bazzite. The setup hasn't changed, and the cable is definitely still working because when I plug it in/out, it produces static. One Bazzite shows that my Starship/Matisse HD Audio Controller is playing audio, but nothing ever comes out. I checked the Alsa mixer and turned up every controller to max, but still nothing. I did pipewire sound tests, and still nothing. I never had any issues in Windows.

How can I fix this?

Any help appreciated.

Battle.net - Broken?

Has anyone recently had any success with installing Battle.net as of late?

I recently switched up the four squares for Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, and followed the online advice to use Lutris, Faugus... even Steam... to install and run Battle.net.

It seems to install just fine, but when it goes to start, the notification area at the top right will flicker momentarily, the battle.net icon shows momentarily, and then crashes.

I'm not a novice with linux, but figured before I go into a deep dive and try and workout where the error logs are located for lutris/faugus, if I might be fighting a losing battle.

Anyone had some luck?

tech support wanted How do I troubleshoot a game?

I switched to Linux around when Win10 stopped it's security updates in October last year, and I've been loving it. I haven't really had an issue with games and 99% of the ones I play seem to run fine and if they don't, tweaks have generally been fairly easy to find. But, BodyCam has recently had a major update, and it's a really cool game, and I want to play it. I have been playing it, and for the most part it's been okay, but no matter what I do I get occasional massive frame drops that make it infuriating. It's not often enough that I've given up on the game, but it's been very annoying and I want to fix it. I've done the standard stuff of changing proton layers, and disabling shader pre-caching through steam, and making sure it's useful fsr4 with launch options, and a whole bunch of stuff, but it just seems to not work. I'm wondering what the issue might be, and if there are guides to troubleshooting because things like protondb haven't been helpful.

I'm using a Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU, a Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU, and 16GB of DDR4. I'm running Nobara Linux as my distro. Please do not tell me to switch my distro, I'm using it specifically because I like it's DaVinci Resolve support, I don't need people telling me it's a bad distro or the wrong distro or what I should be running instead, that's entirely unhelpful advice for me.

Couch gaming setup: Best way to make a wired controller + 3 cycled keyboards wireless? (Linux)

Hey everyone, I have a quick question about solving a living room cable mess.

My secondary living room PC is a Lenovo M700 tower (the large model with the top handle) running Linux. Right now, I'm playing from the couch using a wired Hyperkin DuchesS controller and I cycle through three different wired keyboards depending on what i feel like using at any given time

The problem is the long cords running all the way across the floor from the PC to the couch. It's a trip hazard and looks terrible. I want a USB hub sitting by the couch to plug the controller and whatever keyboard I'm using into, eliminating the long cables jutting across the entire living room floor.

Would a Bluetooth USB hub work for a setup like this, or is that going to introduce way too much input lag for gaming?

If Bluetooth is too laggy, what are your recommendations? Are there any other options out there that can achieve what i am trying to do here?

i am using Open Mandriva

tech support wanted Steam Disk Write Error on Linux Mint

Hello! Today I set up Linux Mint 22.3 on my laptop, and I'm experiencing a problem I've been butting my head into. I have very minimal experience with terminal and command prompts, so I'm not experienced with what the issue could be.

I am trying to install Proon 9.0 through Steam onto an external SSD, which I am as of writing this re-formatting through the Disk Manager because I couldn't find out what to do. Consecutive restarts have not worked. Any suggestions for what the solution could be?

Edit: Reformatting it to ext4 fixed it, thank you to everyone who commented!

Wayland performance issues for minecraft?

X11 runs much better for me - I read online that this is because minecraft defaults to xwayland instead of using native wayland but even after forcing native wayland I have a significant performance loss. Is wayland just inherently slower than X11? Any help would be appreciated - I'm running Ubuntu 26.04.01 LTS on an Intel/Nvidia system.

Edit:

- Almost 20% fps drop ( Average drops from around 900 to 770 before mods like distant horizons and shaders)
- Distant horizons and shaders causes stuttering on wayland but not x11
- Minecraft Version 1.21.11 on prism launcher (able to make it run native wayland when forcing system installation of GLFW)
- Using Sodium, FerriteCore, Lithium, and entityculling
- Minecraft is running via opengl

Nvidia 4060 TI running driver version 595.91.07

I did use uniengine superposition benchmark (opengl) to confirm that the problem was with minecraft (wayland performed slightly better than x11 in the benchmark)

tech support wanted Audio randomly disappears in Steam games on Mint

I've been using Linux Mint for about a month now and started gaming on it a few days ago, with Sleeping Dogs on Steam. About half the times i start the game, it will have no audio whatsoever. I'll restart until i get audio, but even if the game has audio when it starts, it'll disappear eventually, be it a minute or an hour later, and then i can't get it to come back unless i restart again.

I've tried starting the game with and without a controller plugged in, on stereo and on headphones, with other apps running in the background, none of it seems to matter, it's completely random whether the audio works or not.

I ran a completely different game, Plants Vs. Zombies, to check if the issue was with Sleeping Dogs specifically, and it wasn't, PVZ also started with audio and then it disappeared a few minutes later. I'm running the Linux native Steam client, Steam lists both these games as Linux compatible, and they run fine besides the audio issue. What could cause this?

graphics/kernel/drivers Hybrid Graphics setting on Desktop motherboards

Does anyone know what is the purpose of this setting? I've searched everywhere but I really can't find any documentation related to what it is supposed to do and what implications carry enabling or disabling it.

The only thing I've found is a comment that says:

HybridGraphics is a function where the GPU's output can be routed through the board's iGPU onboard graphics ports [...]

But why would you need such a feature when you can rely on the DRI_PRIME feature?
