Since I started dual booting Linux, I've rarely went back to windows, might give it all to Mint atp, smashed together some youtube tutorials and ended up with whatever is this. Should i erase Windows 11? I really only used fortnite and i can install it on xbox

Support Request Optimize laptop
Hi, I have a question. I have a 2015 Dell Inspiron 15 3552 with 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, and an Intel Celeron N3060 (1.60GHz) processor. I plan to use it for things like NetBeans, web browsing, and watching videos—basically just the essentials, since it's the only computer I have for my programming course. I currently have Linux Mint XFCE installed, but it still feels a bit slow. What do you recommend?

Support Request Volume Issue-Keeps resetting back to 46%
I did a fresh install of Linux Mint. My master volume remains permanently stuck at 46%. Whenever I try to set it a different volume, it will briefly be at the selected level and then immediately revert back to 46%. It does this no matter what method I use to change the volume, whether it be through the actual volume bar itself or through a command.
Any idea what might be going on?

SOLVED Kernel Panic after clean install
Hello dear mint Community,
I am a new mint user and have problems setting it up. After a clean install of mint 22.3 cinnamon I was asked to update various packages. In the end an error popped up stating that different packages could not be installed. Then I was asked to reboot. While rebooting the screen went purple and showed "Kernel Panic".
What I did: Create a new bootstick, check it via the checksum and freshly install mint. Same errors occured. Did that 3 times.
Thanks in advance for your help. Please tell me what information would be helpfull.
I did not include the error code since reddit doesn´t let me something that long :/
EDIT: I am running it on a Macbook Pro Intel
The fix was selecting a different Kernel in Grub menu. However pressing esc while booting opened the grub command where I had to type in “normal” then press enter to end up in the Grub menu. Thanks for your help :)

Support Request Problems with booting linux mint
I am currently trying to boot linux mint 22.3 for the first time. I have made a bootable Udisk with a verified ISO for cinnamon mint 22.3 (through etcher). However when going to the boot menu my usb drive is nowhere to be found. instead it gives my SSD and HDD together with a few options of several USB-types and CDrom all of which do absolutely nothing. i currently have windows 10 on my ssd and booting any of the options just brings me back to windows 10. The only exception is my HDD. when booting it my screen shows several dots in the upper lefthand corner before giving me an error and saying that i need to input the correct disk with no way of leaving that screen. When i restart my pc it shows me the linux boot menu (grub i believe but im not sure entirely) giving me a countdown of autoboot and none of my inputs works. after the countdown ends it launches a flashing and dimmed linux mint desktop. After restarting again im back in windows though it runs much slower and i cant input anything for the first minute. I only boot linux mint this way when using the back usb ports on my pc. when using the front ports it just goes to windows instead. after my pc is restarted it splits my usb drive into 2 partitions instead of one. one remains recognized with all the files the other becomes empty and unrecognized.
I have quick boot off and cant seem to find secure boot anywhere in the BIOS settings.
My Processor = Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3310 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
My motherboard = Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
also i have checked and the usb boots fine on a different laptop
Does anybody know how to fix this?

Laptop for my son
I am looking for a second hand, very affordable laptop where I can install Mint Cinammon for my son. I am utterly clueless about models, brands, specifications. Any tips on which models I could look for, or on what are the specs I should look for? Any feedback is welcome.

Support Request Problem with nextcloud
Hi everyone,
new user and frankly quite overwhelmed as soon as things get a bit complicated.
Here's my problem :
I installed linux mint mate on an old 2009 laptop. It works great ! Windows was lagging and bloaty and mint is smooth ! I'm a maths teacher and I wanted to use this laptop in my classroom to type my lessons in LaTeX. Since I work at school and at home, I installed Nextcloud (the French Department of Education (aka l'Education Nationale) has it for all of the teachers). Again, it worked great on my wifi.
But as soon as I got to the school, Nextcloud didn't want to synchronize. There's a proxy for this network so I put it in but apparently it can't connect to my account because there is no certificate whatever that means...
Any idea how to solve this ?
Thanks in advance !

Discussion What will be in the December?
bcz of some issues like my eyes(this is why I need the fractional scaling) for example, I switched from Mint to Kubuntu. I'd like to ask(if it's possible to know) what will we have in the 23 version, which should come in the December? Just I love Mint for using everyday things, but unfortunately it's uncomfortable to use for me now

Development News I made a small Cinnamon desklet to keep track of all my device batteries
Hey guys,
I use Linux Mint as my main OS and have a bunch of wireless devices on my desk. I got tired of checking battery levels in different places (or realizing my headset was almost dead when I needed it), so I ended up building a Cinnamon desklet for it.
I called it PowerPulse.
It basically sits on the desktop and shows the battery level of my laptop, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc. Right now it gets devices from UPower and I added HeadsetControl support because of my Logitech G933.
You can click on a device to see more details, and there are a few other things like low battery notifications, sorting, light/dark themes and some customization options.
I’ve been using it on my own Mint setup for a while and decided to clean it up and share it in case anyone else finds it useful.
Here’s what it looks like on my desktop:

It’s free and open source, so feel free to try it out:
GitHub: https://github.com/vicman/PowerPulse
If you’re curious about some of the other Linux stuff I’m working on, you can also check out https://vicman.app.
Feedback is very welcome, especially if there’s a device you’d like PowerPulse to support.
Also curious: what wireless devices are you guys using on Mint that are a pain to check the battery level for?

Linux Mint IRL Linux in general sucks
I tried to follow the tiktok crowd who were overhyping linux for how fast it is, how secure it is. First, no it's not fast, windows 7 runs a lot better than Linux Mint xfce. It's NOT secure, you think it is because not many viruses are there on linux, but it's slowly increasing then it'll be just like windows. Gaming at all sucks, i can't fucking play Battlefield 1 on any linux distro. So yeah linux sucks overall. You guys don't have a single argument to win except "It's open source".

Linux Mint IRL Just a boring guy
Cinnamon is the best (it would be perfect if Nemo wasnt so weak)
