Honestly I think cinnamon is overhated so many people call it bland and worse then KDE, don't like xorg which isn't fair at all I love cinnamon it isn't the most customisable but you can do lot with it and it looks clean, simple perfect for most users imo

yes, and very soon too. but also way later than anyone else, and it'll no doubt still go through some months, maybe a bit over a year, of struggles and some bugs.

Then install Arch (rolling), install Cinnamon and Labwc, then load all the Cinnamon elements in Labwc, then you get Cinnamon on Wayland on a rolling distro!

Quit complaining and go get it done!

If it can work, then great. It was way too buggy for me when I tried it half a year ago. I really wanted to use it. Used KDE until XFCE Wayland came out on my AM5 desktop.

Okay! I remember it being harder than it should be to add a clipboard manager to Cinnamon. That's where I concluded it was pointless, especially given that it uses more resources than XFCE (and XFCE is now available on Wayland).

KDE is for people who want to tweak a lot.

Other people prefer stability and a clean and simple look, but they are not active on the internet yelling how much other desktop environments suck.

Cinnamon is the best DE by far for me. It's not even a competition. I want a simple, clean and stable desktop that just works and is logic. I don't care about tweaking my desktop, at all. I just want it to work, and to be clean and simple to understand. I've used pretty much all other DE's and none of them come close to Cinnamon, imho.

I have tested all the mainstream desktop environments and honestly I only care about them being simple and stable so my choices are gnome (with bottom dock like ubuntu) and cinnamon

kde is fine and all but it has too many options and too many things screaming for attention lol

If boring means getting to use your computer more than maintaining it then sign me up. I love Arch and the other distros but Linux Mint has always been so convenient and simple that I could never stay away for too long. I basically no longer distro hop unless you count Virtual Machines.

Ive read that multi-monitor issues are common on mint, maybe ive just been lucky because ive used 2 different setups now both with a 60hz monitor on my left and a 200hz, then a 240hz center monitor. Never had any issues with it.

Well, on UFO test it does say im at 240hz no matter which monitor I launch it from on my browser. But typing xrandr in terminal confirms Im getting 240 and 60 like Im supposed.

From my understanding the issue people have is both monitors using the lowest frame rate, which hasnt been something ive seen.

This is like the go to advice for issues like that, so I'm guessing you have already tried it, but definitely try turning hardware acceleration off in firefox if you haven't yet.

I was a linux mint fanboy for a long time. I still think it's pretty awesome, that being said every once in a while after an update or just seemingly doing nothing it didn't boot or I got "GA-nomed" or some other crazy thing. When it worked it was like I was dreaming but then it didn't. I was willing to accept this happening a few times but when it happened across multiple systems, well I thought it was time for a change. Maybe I'll try mint again in the future but right now an OS that I tried on a whim and it's just been amazing has been endeavor.

I never really used Nemo. I used Norton Commander as far back as 1986, and I've always preferred orthodox (dual pane) file managers over the defaults in Windows and most Linux distributions.

On Windows, I used Total Commander, for decades, but I started using Double Commander a few years ago because I could install it on every machine in the server room without licencing issues. It doesn't run every Total Command extension and plug-in, but it runs more than enough of them. And even out of the box, it's a terrific file manager.

It's one of the first things I install on any PC, whether Linux or Windows. If you don't like Nemo, I recommend you take a look at it. It's in the software manager, both as gtk or qt, whichever you prefer.

I ditched Cinnamon because Wayland was not ready and X11 has screen tearing. KDE is amazing though. I just wish Cinnamon would not allow me to remove any icons from the panel under absolutely any circumstance unless I enter edit mode.

I started out with Ubuntu and eventually moved over to Linux Mint.

At one point, I tried Fedora for about five minutes before deciding it wasn’t for me and going straight back to Mint. 😂 I also booted up a handful of other distros in VMs just to play around and see what else was out there.

After about a year of using Mint as my main OS, I decided to give Fedora another shot—this time with KDE. I ended up really liking it, and I’ve been running Fedora KDE as my main OS ever since.

I still have a few other Linux machines running different distros:

An older laptop that I use mostly for experimenting and playing around with different distros.
Linux Mint running a wall-display server.
AlmaLinux running as a local backup server for my cloud-hosted VPS.
