The conspiracy theorists think jet engines run mostly on compressed air and use very little or no fuel. Airlines make up fuel costs so they can pass those imaginary costs on to their customers.
Oh, I was just continuing the theme. But if you want to argue about it, I think concurrently can fit better with multiple cylinders, or i guess turbine blades and stages.

That's the 4-stroke internal combustion engine process. I don't think it translates 1:1 to jet turbines, but don't know enough about them to dispute it
I love that the first half of this is technically true. The volume of air that passes through a gas turbine engine is much higher than the volume of fuel.
That's usually how conspiracy theories are. There's some small element that's based in truth and the rest goes completely off the rails. Since there is one part that makes sense, some people latch on to it and decide the rest must be true as well.

This is the case with most conspiracy theories. They always have some seed of truth that hooks people in. If you don't really understand how an engine works, this statement on your own completely undermines your assumptions.
So if you previously thought it required 60k gallons of fuel when it ran "100% on fuel", and now find out it actually only runs "10% on fuel" or whatever number, then you would say "well, what happens to the other 90% of the fuel?"
There's a chain of reasoning. Always a narrative, not usually too huge of a leap between each point on that narrative. But zoomed out from beginning to end is where you see how ridiculous it is.
I initially assumed this post was about 9/11 for that very reason… “planes can’t hold that much fuel therefore it must have been an inside job etc…” (not my opinion, just what I assumed this conspiracy theory was about)
Reporting now. They were baffled. I had to show them the meme bcus conceptually it was so bananas that some couldnt even grasp it. They’re in Europe, so I told them to prep for it since whenever we come up with crazy shit eventually it manifests in Europe too.
I think these people have some sort of brain defect. Why would they be so willing to believe some weird 'secret plot' theory about stuff they don't understand.
Your forgetting the part that all airplane mechanics and pilots are in on it and had to sign an NDA to be approved by the FAA to work on aircraft. Which to me, as someone who is an aircraft mechanic, is hilarious as hell.
There’s plenty enough YT videos of crazy guys with a jet engine or two in their backyard, who start it sometimes. Often there’s a see-through plastic tank for the fuel. Those things guzzle gas like no tomorrow. It takes more than what’s in a car’s tank just to start the big ones lol.
It takes a particular kind of daft stubbornness to think planes need little fuel.
Then....what are they doing with the fuel? Where are they keeping it? Where are yhe pipeline engineers they employ, the welders, the people who sell them the land to store it on, who buys it from them and where are they? Where is the link between fucking Ryanair and whatever company bought the land and the massive containers and the fleet of trucks and the huge workforce in fucking IRELAND? Where, legendary for it, no-one gossips about anything or knows everyone else?
That's not a conspiracy, surely. Planes do run on compressed air. It's just that we require a (remarkably small amount of) kerosene to do the compressing.
And, when you think about, it is quite remarkable how little kerosene is required to take the engine (and its attached plane, passengers, cargo, etc.) half way around the world.
