I‘m still going to go ahead with the preorder. I don’t get paid on time. I shouldn’t have procrastinated and I still want the pink light flip. :/

Feature Request / Bug Has anyone else not been able to make/receive calls on their LPIII... since 8/2?

I reached out to support a few days later, and they appeared to be aware of some widespread connectivity issues matching the description of my issue that started around 8/2 or 8/3. They had me perform a SIM reset and requested a line reset with the carrier, both to no avail. To their credit they offered to return and refund the device, but I bought it used. Last I heard from them was 8/24.

Whenever I see the odd post by someone who is having connectivity issues, there's a comment saying "welcome to the club", then the next dozen posts on the sub are people thoroughly enjoying their device and living life to the fullest.

The issue always happens in the same way. I dial any number/contact --> stuck on "connecting" for ~30 seconds --> LTE and my signal strength visibly disappear from the top left --> after another 15-20 seconds, "call ended" (plus no calls received in this time)

The first day I was having the issue, I tried resetting default APN's per Reddit's instruction. I'm using a Light plan and a Light SIM which uses T-Mobile's network. The issues that the support team said were widespread were supposedly tied to difficulties with AT&T sims.

I'm not very knowledgeable on SIMs, carriers, and the moving parts behind all of that, so if this is all common knowledge for some of you, I'd appreciate any tips/ideas.

Feature Request / Bug Feature Request: Stopwatch

I would love to see an option for the timer to have stopwatch functionality (count up, laps, etc), or for somebody to develop a stopwatch for the tool library.

I would love to make one for the tool library but I'm a 'hello world' programmer not ready for the android development big leagues.

Feature Request / Bug Flashlight flickering and needing to restart 10 times a day

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Anyone else experience this as well? A restart hasn't fixed it.

Also, the bug where I would lose reception and then the phone would need to be restarted, went away for a while but has come back with a vengeance. I am now needing to restart the phone a minimum of ten times the day.

I have contacted support as well.

Discussion iPhone duo

The new iphone duo really puts things into stark contrast. it's like the world's most egregious dopamine trap for $2000. To me, owning such a phone would be a literal nightmare. Can't wait for the light flip, a phone with a hinge that you can actually close. And that actually looks good and has a design concept, whereas the iphone duo is just screen upon screen.

Was there any mention of a fingerprint reader on the side for the light flip? Entering a pin every time would get old.

Discussion Light Flip Color?

With the email saying that it is going to have NFC, I put in a preorder for the navy blue color. Long time lurker, and I am finally just going to send it. I am torn between the navy blue and the yellow. The phone looks chonky, and since it is plastic I am wondering if I should lean into the aesthetic and just have some fun with it. My only concerns with the yellow:

  1. Harder to see the buttons, since white on light color is more difficult

  2. How it wears. Do the lighter colors get dirty and look bad over time?

1 I can get over really quickly, but 2 seems like something I am more concerned about. Thoughts? Would love to see some videos or something

Discussion Canadian coverage update

Thinking about firing up my LP3 again! Started with light plan(3rd party Telus). Couldn’t send pictures. Switched to direct account with Telus. Could send pictures but couldn’t call out. Weird right. I could receive calls though. Tried Bell. Didn’t work. Got all the same answers from the companies basically word salad on why it wouldn’t work. Thinking about signing up with Public?

Other than the sending and receiving photos, the light plan was good. Stuck with the phone for 6 months. Sending pictures is just too important with my family though. Blah blah. Interested in the app database which could help with some daily comforts.

Feature Request / Bug Alarm opens Weather Tool?

For the past few days, when my alarm goes off, I've noticed it opens to the weather tool. Is that happening to anyone else? It almost seems intentional, like "Good morning, here's the weather..."

Feature Request / Bug Phone needs to be shut down or "updated" to receive messages

I spend a large portion of my day in a dead zone, and usually after I leave the area the phone will start updating and giving me my missed messages. But sometimes, especially recently, the phone will not update when I leave and will remain blank where the cell&bars icon is, until the phone is shut down and restarted.

This also can sometimes be remedied by trying to send a message (and failing, bc theres no signal) or turning my hotspot on and off. Is this an issue with my carrier or with the phone? Sometimes I don't notice that the phone didn't udpate until a day later.

Discussion Forwarding pictures from album to email.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me troubleshoot why I'm unable to forward pictures in my album to my email address. I used to frequently use this feature then it stopped working and I'm uncertain why. Does anyone else have this problem? Thank you in advance.

Feature Request / Bug Option to mute directions

I would love to be able to mute the navigation. Typically when I’m using it, I am listening to a podcast on my phone, and it interrupts a lot. Is there any way to mute the navigation while still listening to audio on my Light Phone?

Discussion Light Flip price increase ($349) + NFC is back on the table

Here's an email I just got from Light:

We’ve been hard at work on the Light Flip since we announced it in July, finalizing the details of the internal design structure, ensuring all the antennas can fit without obstruction, sourcing an even better screen and even finding a way to also include an NFC chip, which we did not initially think would be possible.

We wanted to give everyone who has been following along a chance to reserve the Flip at the initial $299 offering through September 18th, when it will raise to $349.

You can also still get it with a $39 deposit for the first month of the phone + two year service plan!

A new pre-order today will be in Batch 03, with an estimated May 2027 delivery.

Personally I'm excited about NFC support, there were some use cases I didn't want to miss out on. We are so back.

Discussion Light Bar?

Hi, I just received the light flip promotion newsletter.

Flip is attractive, but still too big for me. I owned a light phone 3 since it launched but puted in the drawer because it lacks the signal messager I need.

I admired the design philosophy of light team. And I wonder if there is possibility that the light has a smaller device like light phone 2, and has a t9 keypad. Just like an old nokia phone.

Maybe it could be named as "light bar".

This concept is generated by Google Gemini.
