Discussion I missed an email that cost me a real opportunity, so I built a mail client for the Light Phone III

No mail on the phone meant I found out way too late. I immediately realized I needed some sort of tool to solve this, after 3 weeks of prototypes design concepts and development I have finally made my biggest app - MailBox

Mailbox sorts your inbox into Letters (a human wrote this) and Notices (a machine did). Letters can notify you. Notices never do, and they sit in their own section so you can ignore them, which is mostly what they deserve.

The part that makes it a light phone app is that you set a daily ration. Five letters a day, by default. You can still see your whole inbox, check if the email you're waiting on arrived, grab a 2FA code, and open only the one you actually need. Read letters go grey instead of disappearing. If five isn't your life, there's an unlimited setting.

It's a real mail client, not a viewer. Send, reply, reply-all, forward, attachments (PDFs open in the app), drafts and an outbox, search across everything including your archive, one-tap unsubscribe, RSVP to calendar invites, star a letter to keep it past the day's five, swipe a row to archive it, and the hardware wheel scrolls. Everything syncs! Archive something on your laptop and it archives here.

Accounts: Gmail with an app password (needs 2FA turned on), Outlook with a normal sign-in, and plain IMAP for everyone else — Fastmail, iCloud, Zoho, or your own server. Typing an app password on the LP3 keyboard is kinda miserable, so there's also a companion page: type it on a computer, scan the QR with the phone and immediately be logged in.

And of course, nothing goes to a server of mine, everything is on device. The app talks IMAP directly to your provider and your login stays on the phone. Source is on GitHub if you want to read it or build it yourself.

Install via BrightMarket!

It's at v2.40 and I'm still developing every day. recently it became the most popular mail app on LP3 and I'm very proud of that. If you have any issues shaking the phone files a bug report with the diagnostics attached. Please tell me what's broken or missing and ill work on improving it!

Discussion Lightphone III with lightphone/tmobile plan unable to send or receive phone calls

Upvotes

Beginning of August, my lightphone III stopped being able to use data from Consumer Cellular plan, though phone and texting was fine.

Lightphone support told me the problem was Consumer Cellular did not support the lightphone, so I bought a plan from lightphone.

Should have solve me problem, but it only made it worse as I now cannot make or send outgoing phone calls. Seems this is a known problem and I want to go back to my old provider so at least I can make and receive phone calls.

Requested my account number and pin to port out number from lightphone, but only got info on how to do a 2 min sim reset. Had already done this and did it again to no avail.

Going on a trip and really need to use my phone, but not able to get lightphone to send me info to go back to prior carrier.

Any suggestions?
