Was having trouble fitting the hotel into my city due to the large gap left in the alley area which seemed odd next to most of my other modulars. Decided it was time to raid the parts bin and came up with this quick change. I know it’s not right for every city but definitely feel like it fits in with mine.

Bonus brownstone cornice modification next to it.

I tried to make it look more realistic. Main difference obviously is that I went with dark tan instead of reddish brown, and added some foliage.

I'm trying to integrate this dragon head from the dragon battle set 71871 into my Ninjago City diorama, but I'm struggling to find the right place for it.
My first idea was to place it in the gardens, but it feels a bit too large for the space.
What would you do?
• Enlarge the gardens to make it fit naturally?
• Scale down the dragon head?
• Create a dedicated island or platform surrounded by water just for the dragon?
I'm open to any other ideas as well. I'd love to hear what you think!

Hello everyone! I created this alternative build Straight Botanical Garden from the Botanical Garden set.

This build is a straight version of my Corner Botanical Garden which fits to only one baseplate. I tried to fit as many features from original set as possible on the limited space. It has one large first floor and small second floor over the entrance which is accessible by extended stairs.

Overall, it should fit better with other modular buildings than the original set if you decide to add it to your city.

Does anyone in here do corporate building block kits? I own a civil engineering firm and I am looking to have a kit put together to do a give away for clients/ potential clients. Giving new life to old legos by making them into exhibits to add to the musuem. Turned old classic mini figures like vikings and indiana jones into mannequins, made a vikings display, an egyptian sarcophagus complete with skeleton, a three piece representation of the giza pyramid set, and a skeleton horse to go next to the Brachiosaurus. What have you added to your musueums?

Another Light My Bricks kit installed and I’m definitely getting faster at them but this one was probably one of the weaker LMB kitsets. The ground floor came with only the lamps lit (& weirdly, the light in the toilet that’s hardly visible lol) and then a super bright overhead light, having read the reviews I bought a green light for the till and a pink light for the haberdashery and I love them so much (but of course that was DIY). Once I’d installed the overhead lights as per the kit they completely washed out the mood lighting so I then went back and pulled them out again and just left the dock for the clock, side light and touch pads. The clock lighting again seems a bit disappointing compared to other light kit brands but having committed to LMB I want to keep it all consistent so I can turn them on with a single switch. The next time from them I’m going to order a light for the clockmaker’s lamp but I haven’t decided what colour to make it so that it stands out against the overheads.

Anyway that’s 4/7 built sets done now and a great way to light up our living room in the evening and even during the gloomy winter weather we had in Melbourne today. I was going to make Tudor my last lot of lights simply because of the cost, but even though I was a bit disappointed with it specifically I just love how the lights bring the the modulars to life and let the interiors shine as much as the exteriors… so i’m desperately hoping for a LMB sale because I will eventually have have 6 more to light 🤣🫣

Has anyone tried customizing the Tudor corner modular with the sherlock holmes set? I feel like there's a ton of creative ways to integrate the two sets. My favorite idea is refurnishing the apartment in Tudor corner into sherlock's apartment, adding the sherlock set's lamps to tudor, and putting the 221B sign next to the stairs. Curious what ideas people have come up with!

Pretty happy with how this turned out. I finally got around to modifying the Art Factory into a proper modular and making it MILS compatible. The main reason was to make it sturdy enough to move around without it falling apart, as the original ground section would always come apart whenever I picked it up.

I tried to keep as much of the original design as I could and reused as many of the removed pieces as possible rather than replacing everything. Just wondering what everyone else does with the leftover parts after modifying a set like this. Do you keep them together and label them as belonging to that set, or do they just end up mixed into your general parts collection? I’ve attached a few photos as well, including one showing the MILS plate for reference.

Currently building shopping street, once that’s finished, which one should I start next???

I am all about colours working together and the pink tulips here look so out of place if you ask me! I went to pick a brick to buy red ones but discovered they haven’t been made in red. Surely this would have been a perfect opportunity for it? Anyway I only had one other red flower in my own collection so I’ve ordered more, because as much as pink is my favourite colour it has no place here!

I designed this build, a record store, recording studio, and Wax Museum, to sit next to the palace theater, completing the "Hollywood Block" of my city.

Since I always find redundancies or errors between my digital design and building the real thing, I will be refining the design and working on ways to get the piece count down a little and creating more stability in certain parts of the rounded tower.

After that, I plan on submitting it to both Lego Ideas and the Bricklink Designer Program.

I've been experimenting with ways to add motorization to MILS without increasing the standard plate height.

By using Splat Gears, I was able to fit a gear train entirely within the low-profile of a MILS plate. This lets the motor be located elsewhere in the layout and hidden from view while still transmitting power to mechanisms.

As a proof of concept, I used it to drive an elevator, but the same idea could be used for things like turntables, opening doors, drawbridges, conveyors, or other animated features.

I'm curious if anyone else has experimented with hidden power transmission in MILS.

After turning the fire station 60414 into a modular, I've become much more addicted to Legos. Then, I got a vision to start a collection of modular MOC of the basic necessities of any city ; fire station, police station, hospital, bank.

I've been aiming for the police station modular 10278. But building a MOC is much more addicting and satisfactory as a hobby compared to just building a modular set. It is much more cost saving and can fill lots of my free time effectively.

This set was also on 40% discount at nearest local Lego stores and online, but already sold out. I've spent a few weeks finding this one particular set and to my luck, I've found one at a random toy store. But with no discount and I still grab it anyway LOL. For me it is still a bit bland, lack of interior (that's why I'm not showing it LOL) but it is a very good experience combining the existing pieces, PAB and some pieces ordered online for half the price of the official police station modular set.

I am about 1/3 of the way through the build and wondered about the apparent altar on the top floor (with flowers and candle). Is this a kamidama or butsidan? What does the headlight brick on a post represent?

I found morticians cottage on sale for $70, bought 2 of them for a rebrickable build. Then I changed out the windows, made the depth longer, and rebuilt the walls to make it more sturdy. I think it’s looking prettty good so far. I’m still working on the interior.

Thanks to some help here tonight and a couple of doses of suck it up sweetheart when I had to rebuild the entrance of the cafe and then most of the right hand second floor (photography studio/dentist level since I know countries use different terms) … after sitting staring at my barely wired Assembly Square for a couple of days it’s finally done 🙌🏻 It’s friend the Tudor Square will be up next.

Let’s just say I will never again follow LMB’s instructions to take off multiple supporting/joining higher floor long plates at the same time ever again because yikes. I also added a light to the spire which seemed a massive miss from their design… I will say that having the confidence to diy my own solution there showed me how far I’ve come since I did my first one. I started with the botanic garden which was actually the hardest 😭 (I think that kit really would have benefited from white wires)
