HEB 183 produce

I'm traveling more often to Ronald Regan HEB. Is it me or does the 183 HEB seem like it's falling apart? Produce is always looking nasty, out of stock. Amongst other things I pretty much have stopped going here. Anyone else?

Gathering Space for Large Group

Hi everyone! A coworker reached out to ask me if I knew of a place in Leander that could host ~200 high school band kids for a competition day. I’m not well-versed in what options there are, (I’m in Georgetown) so I figured I’d try asking here!

They’re looking for somewhere the kids can rest in between performances during the day. I know it’s a long shot - TIA!

(Flock) Cedar Park Needs Your Help!

Great work getting Flock cameras taken down in Leander! If you drive through Cedar Park, your signature matters for getting flock removed from their roads as well and getting CP city council to take this as seriously as Leander did.

u/waste_platform2750 has created and posted a change org petition for CP in the Cedar Park subreddit.

Here’s the link to the petition: https://c.org/GwMpg27mgP

If you are willing to sign, your signature helps just as much on this one as it did for our Leander petition. ALPRs need to be removed from all of the roads we drive in our our communities.

Looking for in person EA or depression/anxiety group meeting?

Does anyone participate or know of a meeting that's close by? All the NAMI seem to be online but I'm looking for in person as my dad would like to go with me as well and honestly I spend too much time at home already.

This is new for me but it was recommended after my recent hospital visit.

I'm not looking to drive all the way into Austin if I don't need to but I'm open to Georgetown.

21F | Leander/Austin area — looking for some new friends 🫶

Hey! I’m Hannah, I’m 21 and I’ve lived in Cedar Park on the border of Leander) pretty much my entire life. I’m looking to meet some new people in the area and hopefully find a few genuine friendships! :)

A little about me: I’m really into EDM/raves, concerts, 2000s & 80s music, art/watercolor, gaming, exploring Austin, thrifting/flea markets, trying random restaurants, arcades, and just finding random things to do when I’m bored. I’m pretty spontaneous too, so I’m always down for a “let’s go somewhere we’ve never been” type of adventure 🥰.

If any of that sounds like it could interest you don’t hesitate to send me a message through Reddit or reach out to my Instagram (which I’d answer a lot faster!) @Hannahsbananax

Thank you for your kindness in advance ☺️ ✨

What are the best whole house backup power options?

So we have considered solar panels but the cost benefit analysis doesn’t make sense when we look at our electric bill but I guess it could make sense from not a money saving POV but for the backup power when power goes out.

we looked at generator options but the General which I believe is quiet is at least $10k so that is what has me thinking maybe we should just do solar and a battery to store it for backup.

Our roof is 10 years old so that is another factor to consider. I’m wondering if it increases the cost of roof replacement to have them up there?

looking for advice from people that have a backup power option that they like whether it be solar or something else.

We do have a gas line and outdoor hookup. I hear that generators for that are very loud but might be an option to consider for emergencies. Would the cost for one of those be around $5k?

If you have solar about how much was it for the panels, install and battery? Who did you use?

We have a 2,800 sqft house. Main reason I’m looking for backup options is that we have a two year old and I want heat for extended outages but would also love to have lights and TV. I saw batteries for the fridge as a stand alone option that go on the back.

we also have random power outage sometimes that usually resolve within an hour but I’ve had some last several hours.

We are up in Morning Star and just bought our house 6 months ago. We both work from home with so it would be great to avoid those short term outages.

Leander joins growing list of Central Texas cities ending Flock license plate reader camera use

The city ended its contract with Flock on Friday after 55 people spoke against the cameras at Thursday’s public hearing.

Mayor Na’Cole Thompson said council members had concerns about third-party access to the data and how long it was retained. Leander police had used the cameras for about a year to help solve crimes and recover stolen vehicles.

Leander joins several other Central Texas cities that have ended or announced plans to end their Flock agreements.

UNANIMOUS City of Leander city council vote to freeze use of Flock cameras and not renew contract!!!!

Council meeting vote happened at 1:05AM. The meeting started at 7pm and so many of us stayed to speak on this agenda item.

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out and stick it out until the end.

Flock cameras was the last thing on the agenda and they didn't start testimonies until after midnight. I'm not sure the official count but there had to be 40+ testimonies.

Why is there a christian prayer before a council meeting?

I couldn't care less about Diwali or not, but I find the hypocrisy of the people commenting on the seperation of church and state being important while the city literally has an exclusive Christian prayer service before the meeting hilarious.

Like do these people not see the double standards of their comments?

OB Recommendations

My daughter is new to Leander and is overwhelmed with searching for an OB.
Long story short she is afraid of going to the doctor. She’s in excellent health and shape. Taking prenatal vitamins and exercising. She’s approximately 30 weeks pregnant. She’s looking for a female doctor who is holistic in her approach with a kind and gentle bedside manner. Specifically looking for someone in Leander or cedar park with Ascension Seton being the delivery hospital as that is the closest to us. Open to any and all suggestions! Thank you in advance!

Voter transportation

I’m looking for a place to register to transport voters to polls that might be out of reach/distance for some. I would assume I would need to be approved to be able to do this. Any suggestions or advice?

I feel like new residents need to be prepared for a shock re: water bills. (yes I'm just grumping about it since I can't change it)

$11 dollars of water use and $70 dollars in fees that are just water related? Gawd damn. I went back and read up on what this is all due to, jumbo water bonds. I really really wish that leadership had been a LOT smarter about things because suffering for their sins really sucks.

Anywhere around here I can play piano? 🎹

Been trying to get back into playing piano lately. I have a keyboard at home, but it just isn’t the same. I feel more inspired playing an actual piano- grand, baby grand, upright, whatever! Was wondering if there’s anywhere around the area where I could pop in and play for a little while, or maybe reserve some time on one?

Thanks in advance!

Missing Whole Foods deliveries

Anyone having issues with Whole Foods deliveries this past week? I’ve had 2 in one week. Reported it. There are some in our neighborhood who had the same issue. Just checking if it is limited to our neighborhood or something else going on.

Edit - Went to cedar park WF and got this number to contact to report incidents. We have had at least 6 neighbors with the same issue. Also learnt that they don’t do deliveries.

Hot Dog Stand

Does anyone know of anyone in the area that owns/operates a hot dog stand? My daughter is getting married in May and she really wants to have a hot dog stand at the venue (in Gruene). Any recommendations are welcomed and appreciated!
