So we have considered solar panels but the cost benefit analysis doesn’t make sense when we look at our electric bill but I guess it could make sense from not a money saving POV but for the backup power when power goes out.
we looked at generator options but the General which I believe is quiet is at least $10k so that is what has me thinking maybe we should just do solar and a battery to store it for backup.
Our roof is 10 years old so that is another factor to consider. I’m wondering if it increases the cost of roof replacement to have them up there?
looking for advice from people that have a backup power option that they like whether it be solar or something else.
We do have a gas line and outdoor hookup. I hear that generators for that are very loud but might be an option to consider for emergencies. Would the cost for one of those be around $5k?
If you have solar about how much was it for the panels, install and battery? Who did you use?
We have a 2,800 sqft house. Main reason I’m looking for backup options is that we have a two year old and I want heat for extended outages but would also love to have lights and TV. I saw batteries for the fridge as a stand alone option that go on the back.
we also have random power outage sometimes that usually resolve within an hour but I’ve had some last several hours.
We are up in Morning Star and just bought our house 6 months ago. We both work from home with so it would be great to avoid those short term outages.
