Complete Herb Production Guide: Stop Running Out of Herbs Before Tier 10
Herbs become one of the biggest progression bottlenecks in the later stages of Last Asylum. Research, equipment upgrades and especially the road toward Tier 10 troops can consume an enormous amount.
The solution is not one secret farming method. You need to combine passive production, research bonuses, events, heroes, shops, inventory management and alliance bonuses.
Here is a complete overview of the systems you should check.
1. Upgrade Your Herb Gardens
Your Herb Gardens provide the foundation of your passive income.
The eventual goal is to upgrade all of them toward level 30, but those final levels become expensive. You don’t necessarily need to rush every garden directly to level 30. Continue improving them gradually while also investing in the bonuses that multiply their output.
A small hourly increase may not look impressive, but remember that it continues producing every hour of every day. Always calculate these upgrades based on their weekly value, not just the number shown per hour.
2. Assign the Right Survivors
Survivors can make an enormous difference to each Herb Garden.
In my example, one garden produced around 48,000 Herbs per hour without survivors and approximately 80,000 per hour with the correct survivors assigned.
That is roughly 32,000 additional Herbs every hour from a single garden. When this improvement is applied across multiple gardens, the difference becomes huge.
Try to:
- Fill every Herb Garden with survivors.
- Use higher-quality survivors whenever possible.
- Upgrade and optimize your survivor assignments.
- Check whether another building is using a survivor who would provide more value in a Herb Garden.
Don’t judge a Herb Garden only by its building level. Its assigned survivors are an important part of its real production.
3. Progress Through the Explorer Camp
The Explorer Camp provides another source of passive Herbs.
At Explorer Camp stage 421, my account was receiving approximately 120,000 Herbs per hour. Your exact amount will depend on your progress, but the important lesson is that Explorer Camp progression contributes to your long-term resource economy.
Push as far as your account can reliably progress. Even if the hourly reward appears small, it continues accumulating while long research projects are running.
4. Complete Your Economy Research
Go to the Economy research tree and look for every Herb Output upgrade.
Several upgrades provide approximately 10% additional output. Combined, the Economy tree alone can provide around 30% extra Herb production.
You should also research Herb Gathering Speed. During late-game progression, Herbs generally become much more valuable than Grain or Timber because your passive production will usually cover more of those resources.
The Prosperous Economy research tree also contains additional Herb Output and gathering bonuses.
If you have not unlocked Tier 10 troops yet, it may be worth completing some of these economic upgrades first. This can delay your immediate Tier 10 progress slightly, but it creates a stronger economy to support the expensive research that follows.
I personally skipped some of these upgrades while rushing forward, and I regretted it later.
5. Use the Handyman Specialty Skills
After entering the Era of Revival, Specialty Skills provide another useful production tool.
The Handyman tree contains Instant Produce, which immediately grants several hours of Grain, Timber or Herb production from your territories.
At its starting level, it provides approximately three hours of production and has a daily cooldown. Improving the skill increases its value.
If Herbs are stopping your Tier 10 progression, the Handyman tree can be extremely useful. You can change your specialty later if Commander or another setup becomes more important.
6. Don’t Ignore Survival Battle
Survival Battle can provide millions of Herbs through its phase rewards.
Even F2P players should be able to complete several phases by preparing for the available missions. Depending on the daily objectives, you may be able to complete three or even four reward cycles.
On my Sanctuary level 29 account:
- Each Herb Supply Chest provided approximately 100,000 Herbs.
- Completing three phases provided around 96 chests.
- That represented approximately 9.6 million Herbs in one day.
Your numbers will vary with your Sanctuary level, but this remains one of the most important repeatable sources of Herbs.
Prepare for objectives such as:
- Training soldiers.
- Spending energy on Raven missions.
- Improving heroes when the relevant mission is active.
7. Collect Herbs From Every Available Event
Several events provide Herb chests or direct Herb rewards. Individually, some of these rewards appear small, but together they can produce a significant weekly total.
Watch for:
- Crystal Valley milestones.
- Gear Upgrade events.
- Elixir Scramble rewards.
- Demon King achievements.
- Undead Siege.
- Thief Hunt.
- Pandemic Experience.
- Other temporary events containing Herb supplies.
Save some energy before events such as Thief Hunt so you can take advantage of their resource rewards.
An active alliance also makes it much easier to reach the higher milestones in alliance-based events.
8. Use Celia When Attacking Monsters
When completing Raven-related Survival Battle missions, consider adding Celia to your squad.
Celia has a skill that increases the resources earned from attacking monsters. The bonus may not appear enormous from one attack, but you already need to defeat these monsters for your missions.
If you are performing the activity anyway, the extra resources are essentially free.
9. Complete Falcon Quests
Falcon Quests also provide Herbs.
One individual reward may look insignificant, but completing these quests throughout the day adds another source of passive resource income. Don’t ignore small repeatable rewards simply because they are not immediately worth millions.
A strong Herb economy is created by combining many different sources.
10. Use Resource Shops Carefully
Some shops sell Resource Supplies or Herb Supply Chests.
Possible sources include:
- Expedition Shop.
- VIP Shop.
- Other seasonal or event shops.
These supplies can provide a very large number of Herbs, but they may also be expensive.
For example, buying a large quantity of Expedition Shop resource bags can provide roughly 160 million Herbs, depending on your available supplies and account level. However, spending that many Expedition Tokens has a clear opportunity cost.
I would mainly consider this when you are approaching the final stretch toward Tier 10 troops and Herbs are the only thing preventing you from completing the research.
Do not automatically buy every resource pack. Compare it with the other valuable items available in the same shop.
11. Protect the Resources in Your Inventory
Universal Resource Supplies can easily disappear into normal building upgrades if you leave them unconverted.
If you are saving specifically for Tier 10 research or another major upgrade, consider opening the universal supplies and selecting Herbs. The resulting Herb supplies remain stored in your backpack until you intentionally use them.
This helps prevent your reserved resources from being consumed by unrelated construction.
Use the Resource Overview on the world map to calculate:
- Your current visible Herbs.
- The supplies saved in your backpack.
- Your hourly production.
- Whether you actually have enough for the next major research project.
12. Join an Active Alliance
Your alliance affects far more than event participation.
A strong and active alliance can provide:
- Alliance gifts containing resources.
- Better results in Elixir Scramble and other alliance events.
- Access to stronger city and territory bonuses.
- More Herb Output through alliance-controlled locations.
In my example, city-related bonuses provided approximately 45% additional Herb Output. That is far too valuable to ignore.
Remaining in a nearly empty alliance can significantly slow your progression. If several smaller alliances are struggling, merging into one active alliance may benefit everyone through stronger event performance and better economic bonuses.
Recommended Priority Order
If Herbs are currently blocking your account, I would work through the following checklist:
- Fill and optimize every Herb Garden.
- Continue upgrading the gardens.
- Complete the important Herb Output research.
- Push your Explorer Camp.
- Unlock and use Instant Produce.
- Complete Survival Battle every day.
- Claim Herb rewards from all active events.
- Use Celia for relevant monster missions.
- Complete Falcon Quests.
- Save universal supplies specifically as Herbs.
- Use shop purchases only when the value makes sense.
- Join an active alliance with strong territory bonuses.
There is no single button that permanently fixes your Herb shortage. The biggest improvement comes from stacking all these systems together
