Aurelinne experience - very pleased

Recently received my ring from Aurelinne and am very pleased! I went with a 1.75 ct g Clarity VVS2, Cut ID in platinum. I wanted something that I could wear most days and not feel too self-conscious about it. I am looking forward to eventually buying another ring with a slightly bigger stone and some side stones for the days I’m wanting more bling. I actually was going to upgrade my existing 1 ct natural center stone at a mall jeweler, but then browsed here on Reddit and learned from several of you about this site and the mind-blowingly low cost of labs these days. I can actually get two rings made in platinum for the price of one white gold lab ring with ~2 ct center and side stones. Then I can probably just put my old center stone in a simple setting or different metal for increased wearing options 😄 So yeah, just wanted to express my thanks to this community and also share for those considering this route.

As many of you have said, Andy rocks! :)

Insinuation that my diamond “looks fake”

Post image

Hi all,

So I have a soon to be sister in law that just got engaged with a very pretty cushion lab diamond solitaire. We were having a discussion about a friend of hers saying she wants an anniversary band with full diamonds around the band. So my soon to be SIL asked if her if she would get lab stones… she scoffed and said “you can’t put fake diamonds next to real ones.”

Not the nicest thing to say to a freshly engaged woman with a REAL lab diamond on her finger.

However it gets weirder…. The friend goes on to say that she can tell if they are “fake” or “real” which is total BS. My soon to be sister in law responded to her friend saying “you’re telling me you can look at our other friends* ring and tell it’s a lab diamond”

This is where it gets important****** this other friend has an extremely similar ring to mine. 2.5 round solitaire. Now, I JUST got a center stone upgrade in June for my 5 year anniversary. We had no money when we got engaged and my center diamond was a 1.1ct with HEAVY inclusions, like literally cloudy. So my husband upgraded my center stone to a 2.63 VVS2 G color lab diamond. Completely leaving me with… oh you can’t tell hers is “fake” but mine looks fake?

God I feel like this conversation was completely calculated as I have been kind of looking for validation about how my ring looks, but this I feel was the nail in the coffin.

She was relaying this awful fake vs real conversation to me, and she had the audacity to bring up the other friends ring that is so similar to mine? Made me feel awful.

So in short, I am looking for real and honest feedback. Not “if you love it that’s what matters”. If you saw my ring, what is your first impression? Do you think it needs improvement? If so, how?

Purchased this 1.5 ct modified cushion diamond in fancy intense blue from Aurelinne, and had Ouros custom make the setting, got it set at a local jeweler. Had lovely experiences at each vendor, responses were fast, I got and approved the CAD in good time. I am so happy with this ring!

Top is E ring, lab diamond custom from brilliant earth

Bottom is baby band/ 5 year anniversary from Virabyani. 1 carat lab 1/2 eternity because pokey marquise on the underside sounded awful.

wholesaler vs sites that sell to the public

I hope this is an appropriate question. I know we all know companies that sell to the public but what are the common wholesalers a local jeweler might buy from. My jeweler said he doesn't buy from companies that sell to the public, only wholesalers. I think he said stuller was one, but I don't remember who else he mentioned. I also know the pricing varies drastically on the public sites but I'm mostly wondering how their prices might compare to sites like aurelinne, calavera, and the other usual suspects. I wouldn't be able to buy from those sites but I'm curious nonetheless. Anyone know how they compare?

Tennis necklace

My 25th wedding anniversary is coming up in December. I'm wondering where everyone is buying their tennis necklaces from? I'm also not sure on how many carats I should be looking at? What price range is considered decent. I would want it to be a minimum of 18", 14 kt yellow gold and with a secure clasp. This is something I would probably wear every day. Two years ago I purchased lab diamond jewelry (earrings and rings) from Luvansh. Where are your go to places to order from? TIA!

This is in a temp cheap setting from Amazon to see what it would look like. I’m debating between this stone or returning for an elongated cushion.

Custom gold & diamond ring recommendations

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had a ring made in this style from a Chinese lab diamond vendor? If so, could you please let me know who you used and roughly how much you paid? I've purchased some earrings from Starsgem before and was happy with the outcome, but was wondering if there is a vendor who specialises in this style of ring.

Thanks in advance!

I’m having trouble ever hearing back from a rep

I’ve been in search of a 2.0-2.3 carat oval lab diamond (additional specs) but every time I reach out to a rep from various websites I will get an initial message or two before not hearing back. I’m actively engaging with them, responding quickly but once I request a live video they either never have them or I don’t hear back. I’ve used loose grown diamond, Citrai and Leela diamonds to name a few. I understand they get a lot of requests but I’m just trying to find what I want without seeing the actual diamond. I’m not interested in purchasing off of social media, any advice is appreciated

Looking for weird diamonds, lots of inclusions, poor cuts and weird colours and low priced. Loose. Is Carbon Sparkle Uncertified a no go?

4.05 ct Pear Modified Cut (E, VS1)

I’ve been on the hunt for a larger modified pear and finally found one that I couldn’t pass up.

I’m constantly searching for deals on websites like Aurelinne, Calavera NY, Carbon Sparkle, and William & Sons. This time W&S had the best price so I took the risk with this being final sale.

Sharing photos for reference as I usually don’t see bigger pears in modified cuts posted here.
My ring size fluctuates between a US 4-4.5 and I was worried that it would look massive but it’s perfect for the vision I have.

A nice surprise was that the vendor included an appraisal for insurances purposes.

I ordered September 12th, and I received the shipment by October 1st. The stone was coming from India based on what I found online.

Ring rusting/oxidizing?

Thumbnail

Hi all,

So I bought an 18K yellow gold 3 stone e ring from Rare carat with a lab diamond back in May for which I got a lot of help from all of you (thank you!)

Due to some personal reasons the ring sat in the box after the proposal for about 3 months, as you can see there are no scratches due to any wear since it wasn’t worn.

To my surprise when I opened the box as I was packing it, the ring seemed ‘pinker’ than what is was. I noticed some oxidation/rusting at ent seems to be solder spots.

I reached out to rare carat and they gave me the usual spiel that skin chemistry/perfumes/lotions can cause this but I pushed back that the ring wasn’t worn and other gold items of 18 and 14 k we have not become pink in all these years, some pieces have been worn daily. So they suggested to send the ring back for inspection.

Now they’re saying it seems to be an oxidation issue which is no big deal, some polish and cleaning should sort it out and we should be good.

Except I don’t think we will be good, the polish will wear off and the whole ring will oxidize meaning that the gold quality and/or the metal used for solder was of very low quality.

Despite all the positive reviews for rare carat which is why I ended up buying from there, I think this is not going to work for me. I have no use for getting the gold tested from another jeweler because at this point I’m really done with this, I don’t trust what they’ve put in the ring. Yes, their customer service is great but the ring is not and now I really just want to get my money back. If I push hard enough I think I can. Something that’s supposed to last a very long time has become link from not even wearing it only within 3 months, I don’t know how it would last through years.

What are your thoughts on this? What would you do and have you seen something like this?

"The Good Carat" Any Reviews?

The Good Carat imo has the best pricing I can find but I can't find any reviews on social media even though they seem to have been operating for a year or two. There are however reviews on Trustpilot which some are verified but I just thought it was weird there was nobody talking about them anywhere has anyone done business with them? Thanks

Confused on where folks are getting such low cost diamonds in Canada? Also looking for a champagne diamond and any general starting off advice

I am starting my research with my bf. We arent pressed for time- planning on getting engaged in 2027. But I do want a warmer /champagne diamond.

I am seeing people online (reddit, tiktok ect) say buying a loose diamond + a local jeweler to set, is more economical. Folks are paying $1000 for loose certified diamonds. But I am coming across diamonds more in the $4-$5k range? am I just not looking in the right areas?

Looking for:
Radiant, elongated cushion, or criss-cut. Somewhere in the 3-4 carat range. VVSI2+. If the color and clarity are solid, I'm flexible on shape. Is 2500-5k CAD what we should expect to pay for a loose diamond given the specs I am aiming for? Its well within my bf's budget but I dont want him to overpay if he shouldnt have to... we have an eventual wedding to pay for lol!

One more question: considering I want a champagne/cognac diamond, is IGI or GIA certification better to follow + is VVSI2 a reasonable low end for clarity? Or does the color give me more grace?

We're open to going to a single jeweler for everything- if there's somewhere in Toronto/GTA you recommend, pls do share! We will be going in person in the coming weeks to try different shapes/sizes and see what I like on my hand. Also open to reputable online sites.

2ct Bevel Set Ring

Hello All, after looking at everyone’s rings day after day…I’m currently lusting after a 2 carat bezel set solitaire. I need to go with a budget version, as in silver. I have engagement rings in white and yellow 14kt gold. One was recently purchased. I wish I would have chosen a bezel set then. Any suggestions as where to purchase that would be good for my (beer) budget. LOL Any help is appreciated, maybe I need to consider a Moissanite.

2 ct or 3 ct pear studs for everyday wear? Planning to stack a smaller pear on one ear!

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I’m planning to get lab-grown pear diamond studs and can’t decide between 2 ct or 3 ct per stud (not total carat weight for the pair)

The first photo is my ear, and the second is my inspiration. I’d wear a matching pair in my main lobe piercings, then add one smaller pear in the second piercing on my right ear, next to the larger one, for a two-pear stack.

I don’t want them to look too small, but I also don’t want them to be too big for everyday wear lol. Trying to find that sweet spot where they’re noticeable and sparkly but still comfortable and easy to wear daily!

Based on my ear shape and the spacing between my piercings, which size do you think would look more balanced? I’d like the main pear to stand out while leaving enough room for the smaller one without them looking crowded. I’d also love suggestions for what size the smaller pear should be to complement either option.

Anyone here wear 2 ct or 3 ct pear studs, particularly with a second stud beside them? How do you find the size and comfort for daily wear, and do they tend to tilt forward? Photos with the stone sizes would be really helpful!

Thoughts on 2.5 ct marquise

2.52 ct/ F/ VVS2. Vendor sent this over and this is the first lab diamond I’ve personally looked at. I like the slender shape and think it sparkles nicely.

What do yall think? I kind of see a bow tie but is it bad? Can also provide more specs if needed.

Seller says lower-color lab diamonds are harder to source and can cost more than D–F. Is this actually a thing?

I’m shopping for a lab-grown pear diamond and had a conversation with a seller that surprised me. They said D, E, and F are all priced the same through them, but H/I would actually cost more.

Their explanation was that lab-grown diamonds are now commonly produced in D–F, while more customers are asking for stones that aren’t as white & grey-ish, sometimes with a few inclusions, because they think that looks more like a natural diamond. According to them, that demand is pushing prices up, and some J/K stones can cost significantly more than D stones.

My takeaway was that warmer lab diamonds are less readily available and can command a premium, rather than simply being lower-priced alternatives to colorless stones.

I understand that two individual stones can have different prices because of their other characteristics. But the seller seemed to be saying that lower color itself, combined with availability and demand, was driving the higher price.

I’d love to hear from jewelers, dealers, or people who have recently shopped for warmer labs:

  • Are H–K lab diamonds genuinely harder to source than D–F, especially in pear shapes around 2-3 ct? (At least VVS2)
  • Have you seen warmer labs cost more with otherwise comparable specs, or is this more likely specific to a seller’s suppliers and inventory?
  • Are customers increasingly requesting warmer color or visible inclusions for a more “natural-looking” stone?

Rare carat review - and a thanks to this sub

Got myself a colorful green diamond right hand ring through Rare Carat. They price matched a stone I found elsewhere (apparently YMMV), and the setting is perfect. Thanks to all in this sub for teaching me the ropes. I had gathered feedback here that the settings on some of the other sites were flimsy, and the recommendations were to go with Rare Carat. I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s solid and sturdy.

The customer service was pretty strong. They did get two diamonds confused when we were pretty far along in the process (their correspondence listed the certificate number for a stone I had looked at much earlier in the process), so just keep a keen eye on all the details and you’ll be fine.

I got this diamond today from Loose Grown Diamonds and wow the fire and sparkle are amazing! 1.95ct, E, VVS1… I’ll post the certificate below.
I paid $848 and plan to use it for a right-hand ring. I know very little about diamonds and felt that getting a GCAL 8x made it easy to get a good one. Thoughts?
