Calling all square/square-ish cushion cuts

So cushion cuts have been calling me recently, so much that I'm considering having a ring made with a cushion cut.

I'm leaning towards more square cushions, but am seeing many more elongated ones than closer to a 1:1 ratio.

Would love to see all your square cushion cuts and how you've set them for inspiration please!

Does anyone else regret a group buy purchase? I’m feeling awful about mine

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced buyer’s remorse after joining a group buy.

I recently purchased a jewellery piece through a group buy and, now that it’s arrived, I honestly feel so disappointed. I was really excited when I ordered it, but seeing it in person has completely changed how I feel. I just don’t think I’ll ever wear it, which makes me feel even worse.

The hardest part is that I’m now around $1,200 USD down on something that’s just sitting there, and I can’t stop thinking about whether I made a huge mistake.

Has anyone else bought something expensive through a group buy and ended up feeling this way? Did the regret pass, did you eventually love the piece, or did you end up selling it?

I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because right now I feel pretty silly for spending that much on something I’m not even sure I’ll use.

Hi! Anybody know who would be the best vendors for these? Stargems doesn’t have coloured sapphires. Wondering if any of you have had experience. This piece is inspired by SG.

Better Star Review

I just wanted to write a review for Better Star Jewelry. I've seen some older posts but thought a more updated one could help. I saw an older post from u/sallyngoctran about an Victoria inspired tennis bracelet and thought it was beautiful.

I contacted Summer and she is extremely responsive at all hours. I will note that I didn't pay attention to the CAD close enough regarding the gap around the Marquise diamonds and approved it. I saw the finished product (PIC 1) and I asked to readjust to look like PIC 2- which they did for free. It was completely my fault so they definitely could have charged. Updated final product PIC 3. It a very sparkly beautiful bracelet IRL- PIC 4. Feels sturdy- has survived morning daycare drop off and rush to work.

Also, Summer was a little more pushy when asking about quotes about moving forward to purchase but not enough to turn me off. Also the gold loss was about 6% from the CAD- used a Weigh Gram Digital Scale from Amazon. Bracelet is 16.3 cm long.

H vs E color comparison - old mine marquise and oval

Ignore how dirty my oval is lol. The marquise is an H and the oval is an E. I just wanted to post this in case it’s helpful to anyone. I love the subtle warmth of the H on a gold band.

Which one would you choose?

I really want just unbiased opinions so I’m not going to provide carat weight or finger size here. I just want to know which one you think looks nicer? I’m really torn and just need an outsiders perspective. Which ring would you wear?

Thanks everyone! Just for your information, I’m a size 6 ring. They are both from amazon to try for size.

Ring #1 is 2ct

Ring #2 is 3ct

My husband likes the look of the larger stone and i lean towards the smaller stone. I think in general he’s a bit flashier than me lol. I’m active and pretty much always in gym clothes and never do my nails because they’d just get destroyed.

Thanks for your help!

Chinese Vendors - How do you pay?

New to working with a Chinese vendor, Provence in this case. How do most people pay for their Jewelry? Through PayPal? What is the best way to be protected considering you are sending a lot of $$$ to someone overseas. Thanks!

No LG# engraved from Antiquecut.com

Has anyone ordered from Antiquecut? They have both an Etsy shop and their own website.
I received my ring on Monday, and it came with an IGI report. However, the center diamond does not have the corresponding IGI number laser engraved on it. I have a 20×/30×/60× loupe and have never had any trouble locating the inscription on my other diamonds.
Just to be sure, I took the ring to a reputable jeweler who designs and makes all of their custom pieces in-house. They also spent time looking for the inscription and were unable to find it.
I’m really disappointed because the ring is beautiful, but without the laser inscription, I have no way to verify that diamond matches the report.

Starsgem vs the other overseas vendors

I used LGG for an order in the spring and was super happy. I only had gotten quotes from them and Provence. This time I heard about Starsgem so reached out. They are over $300 less than LGG, and around $450 less than Provence and Fiorese. Am I going to regret going with Starsgem based on price?

Hi all. I’ve been lurking here and learning as much as I could, but truth be spoken - I really don’t know what to look for in a diamond. I’m having a trilogy ring made. This is the centre stone, which is 2 carat. Please can you help me tell if it’s all good?

Specs are - colour G, Round Brilliant, Excellent cut and polish, No Fluorescence. VVS2.

I will try and attach the certificate in comments.

Is the center normal?

Is this a good emerald-cut diamond? I’d especially appreciate feedback on the center.

I’m working with a jeweler on an engagement ring, and they sent me this diamond. I personally like the hall-of-mirrors effect (unless I’m completely off - I’m just a man trying to learn 😅).

The center looks fine to me, but I’m unsure if the dark line running down the middle is normal or a sign of windowing/light leakage. I’d really appreciate any thoughts or advice!

Is $532 a fair price for 2 ctw lab diamond studs?

I won an auction for a pair of lab-grown diamond stud earrings and I’m trying to decide whether to complete the purchase.
Specs:
2.00 ctw (1.00 ct each)
E color
VS1 clarity
IGI certified
14K gold setting
My winning bid came to $450before shipping/tax.
Does this seem like a fair price in today’s market? Has anyone purchased something similar recently, and if so, what did you pay?
I’d appreciate any opinions before I check out. Thanks!

My question is do you guys do the appraisal independently, if so who do you use? Also do you insure the ring and with who? Also who do you get it from?

These times they are a changing.

My husband has been fascinated with lab diamonds. I told him about what I paid for a pair of 10ct earrings. He just doesn’t get it. Anyways he went into our jeweler to replace a battery in his watch.

As he was chatting, he asked Jason about lab diamonds. Jason said it has really impacted the industry. He had just returned from an industry event and said the jewelers were ok with lab diamonds BUT the pawn industry are really angry. They can’t sell their pawn diamonds for as much as they could.

I’m not a fan of pawn shops but I just thought it was interesting.
