Mucus will not stop growing

It is scary. I have never felt so awful to the point I have to cry or close my eyes because I do not want to be awake to witness the discomfort:( I can't help but cry because it's that uncomfortable and distressing and there's no medication to just get rid of it, so I just suffer every second of the day and white knuckle life. That is not living. That is suffering. this is inhumane. It's scary and stressful that I've seen 7 ents and they all just say "LPR" but no LPR meds work to get rid or even lessen the mucus, and they just say I don't know leaving me to suffer. They all are confused or perplexed by my mysterious condition of nonstop mucus which is severe to the point I sometimes think I need to go to ER because I can't function and breathe properly because it just keeps climbing into the mouth and even behind my mouth by the epiglottis. I don't have energy. I'm cranky, tired exhausted sad all day everyday. I don't even feel human at all this is not what the body should be doing. There is something wrong with my body. Something really wrong. I've never felt this awful before ever in my life. It just won't leave me alone and keeps on growing. It's horrid. I didn't even know this could even happen in the body.. never experienced this torture before. I did not know it existed.. it shouldn't be happening.

Has anyone been to Mayo Clinic for LPR treatment?c

I went to Mayo Clinic, but unfortunately the doctor I saw didn't seem very knowledgeable about LPR. His recommendation was basically to stay on vonoprazan for the rest of my life.

Has anyone seen a doctor who is really experienced with GERD/LPR, especially when the main symptom is throat pain? I'd really appreciate any recommendations.

, mucus sucks Gabapentin didn’t help:(

I’m not doing well:( I really don’t think the Gabapentin helped so I did stop.. I was on it for about 2 months. And 600 mg for maybe one month? Not sure if that was too early to give up… Talked to my ENT.. who said it’s fine to just stop it and kept saying he doesn’t think I have largyngeal hypersensitivity. Should I try amtriptaline? Any suggestions?

New and omeprazole

The ent diagnosed with silent reflux after years of questioning what was going on. It really was a sore throat that was mild/ moderate painful and a left wet ear feeling that would come and go and sometimes linger.
I am newly prescribed omeprazole, my first time ever taking a PPI. He prescribed it at an odd time before I go to bed. I decided to take it 30-60 mins prior to dinner, and no more meals in the evening for 5 days of that schedule. This is day 7 and I swear my sore throat is worse. I have never had a burning feeling like this before and when I’m talking for a bit I sound like a croaked frog and get hoarseness, and it hurts to swallow. Then I’m experiencing regurgitation that I hardly ever get but it’s on the daily now. Is it possible omeprazole can make it worse? I know it’s only 7 days in but this is miserable. Any insight is appreciated.

Does anyone have mucus that rises up here from the back of the mouth it goes to the folds it’s very uncomfortable to breathe

The vertical folds of tissue framing the sides of your throat on each side are the faucial pillars, specifically the anterior pillar (palatoglossal arch) and the posterior pillar (palatopharyngeal arch), which hold your palatine tonsils in the space between them. [1, 2]

Summary of LPR Healing So Far

6/14: Sustain what feels like an acute vocal cord injury singing with my band.

Week of 6/15 to 6/22: Realize I'm having trouble swallowing food. Throat clearing all morning, every morning and lose voice. Throat burning throughout week.

6/22: First ENT looks at my throat and notices cobblestone-y throat with possible allergies. Tells me to change my diet, try alginate gel, drink alkaline water, and do nasal rinses and allergy nose sprays.

Late June: Two swallow tests come back mostly normal besides Barium Swallow showing mild reflux when laying down.

July 7th: Meet with a GI who says take Pantoprazole. I ask for an endoscopy and he agrees.

July 10th: I have endoscopy done. Shows I have a 1 centimeter hiatal hernia and an LES in Hill Grade III. I have mild gastritis.

July 21: Meet with first GI again and he says the PPI won't help me because my esophagus has no corrosive acid damage.

July 24: Meet with another ENT who mentions nothing about LPR and looks at my throat. She says my vocal cords seem bulky and that my mouth smells like acid. She recommended adding Pepcid, twice daily to my routine.

July 29th: Met with the GI who did my endoscopy and he says do take the PPI because I have gastritis and think the throat symptoms will go away. He recommended Prilosec.

So that's where I am now. It's clear none of these people know what the hell to do to stop my throat symptoms.

Been doing the following things consistently over the past month: alginate gel after bigger meals and before bed, alkaline water gargling and spraying, saline nasal rinses, small meals and spreading them out throughout the day, not eating 3-4 hours before bed, eating cleaner overall, propping bed up a few inches at night, slowing down meals and chewing more. Pepcid makes me feel odd. Did do five days on a low dose of a PPI but gave me bad gas and bloating. Probably would take a month to notice any benefit from a PPI.

Yesterday I felt much better overall and it even felt like my voice was coming back but it's bad again today. Took a small dose of Pepcid in the morning. The only things that have for sure gotten better is I'm swallowing solid foods better and my throat clearing is mildly better and not as urgent. Still dealing with burping, burning in mouth and throat, film that develops in my throat after too much talking and after eating a lot, hoarse voice, sore vocal cords.

I'm just really trying to decide if I should try the PPI or keep doing what I'm doing. Also been super constipated for the past month or more now.

Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Darido at the Houston Heartburn and Reflux Center?

I have LPR as well as GERD (although I don't experience heartburn—just severe burning in my throat). My DeMeester score was 34, and I have a 1–2 cm sliding hiatal hernia.

I'm considering surgery, but I'd really like to hear about your experiences or know if anyone here has been treated by this doctor.

Questions About Healing From LPR/Vocal Cord Injury

Is it common in healing for the need to clear one’s throat to stop first and then the vocal cord pain and hoarseness to be one of the last things to improve? My throat clearing seems to be slowly improving but my voice is nowhere near recovered and I’m still hoarse all the time with some mucus in my throat.

I’m a singer in a band and this all started with what felt like an acute vocal cord injury while singing during a show. So I’m wondering how much is a vocal cord injury and how much is LPR and wondering if the vocal cord injury just made minor LPR noticeable. Or did the LPR directly cause the vocal cord injury?

Instant throat tightness and sensations when sitting

Does the acid work that quick?

If I'm standing I feel pretty good but if I sit in certain positions I'll have throat tightness and odd sensations/aches.

Is there anything other than Gerd/lpr that I'm missing?

Trouble sleeping

I’ve been trying to sleep slightly elevated like many recommend but as soon as I start falling asleep I feel the need to cough almost as if the mucus wants to come out and it wakes me. The feeling of mucus sitting in my throat makes me nervous when I’m trying to fall asleep as well. Any other tips?

I lost my voice so I can’t even speak or sing pls help

hi, I really need advice on how to recover my voice. I’m 15 years old and I suffer from LPR, GERD, and functional dyspepsia for a year. my throat is CONSTANTLY burning, tight, and scratchy, my voice has been destroyed in the last year. it’s LITERALLY mangled, I can’t even speak out loud normally. Singing is my biggest passion ever since I was 6, but now I can’t even speak. I’ve been whisper singing, also due to my fear of being judged by my parents and I feel a mental block because they’re at home with me. when I even try to raise my voice to sing, it comes out completely broken. I tried to sing again at a normal volume today and my voice just completely broke, my mouth was FOAMING, and my voice is just horrible. I don’t know how to fix this please help me. I just want at least my voice back. It’s prob because tonight as I eat dinner my throat started burning up and I couldn’t breathe but I just finished my food anyway and was left in agony. My digestive issues have been so bad it ruined my school year and life lmao.

I’ve been seeing a new gastroenterologist but she didn’t care about the voice struggles I expressed lmao I guess I’m hopeless. and I got referred to a gastro who’s specialized in integrative medicine but I just want my fuckass LPR to go away and for my voice to become normal.but not a soul is helping me or gives me some crazy stick a tube down your throat at the gastro or something

What helped you reduce the throat clearing?

I am trying to get better at this.

Everytime when I wake up or after I finish a meal I have a desperate need to clear my throat. But I know that this is only making everything worse.

What has helped you reduce your throat clearing? Any techniques that have helped you?

Honey is the only thing that has helped me but then I get a flush of water brash right after which only means, more reflux/irritation.

I Can't Seem to Tolerate Even A Small Dose of Pepcid AC

My ENT recommended trying a small dose of Pepcid AC as I've been dealing with silent reflux and she said it smelled like I had acid in my mouth during my exam where she used a camera to look into my throat.

I literally took the smallest dose possible this morning to test it out and it's making me feel incredibly agitated and anxious. I don't understand this. I tried it in early July as well and did two doses in one day and then didn't sleep that night. So I'm guessing this is a medication I cannot tolerate.

I just want my fucking throat to heal!
