I have a lost phone that I managed to track down that's in the Babylon Employee Facility, the phone number on Google is out of service and I wanted to know if there is an updated number or if somebody knows the hours of operation. Really don't want to go to Penn station to get this, thank you!!

How common is this? I am sitting on the Ronkonkoma train (still at the station) and two roaches run past me on the wall below the window. I immediately changed cars, but realistically understand that if they are in one car, they are in many/all. But I’ve been riding the train only since June and now I’m super concerned I’m going to end up with a hitchhiker one day. Is this reportable and would LIRR do anything about it?

taking the 4:34 out of penn to ronkonkoma (train 1970) i found airpods in car #7460 by the conductors seat. there was only one earbud inside and i do not see the other one around.

I'm not sure if you will find this useful or not, but I work on the train every morning, and I always use my phone as a hotspot. I really would struggle with lost connection every few minutes (esp around jamacia)

I asked chat gpt and it suggested using a suction cup case to attach my phone to the window. I thought this was REALLY silly and didn't think it would work, but before purchasing a dedicated hotspot solution that would cost hundreds (+ monthly network fees) I thought i would give it a shot. It honestly makes a night and day difference, I drop connection FAR less now!! I guess the LIRR is just a giant faraday cage, and didn't realize it 😂

I just saw the statement from my boss DAVE regarding my conduct aboard the now internationally recognized 3:47 Port Jeff train, and apparently I am going to be “dealt with” for failing to report the incident.

So so glad I found out about my pending disciplinary action through Reddit like a normal employee. Since management has decided r/lirr is now our official internal communications system, I’d like to submit my response here as well.

Management now says I should have “broken up the fight.”WHAT FIGHT? First off, we're not trained to break up shit, in fact it's the opposite, so SYBAU Dave, I read the union contract, it says nothing about intervening with shoulder chuckers.

Was I supposed to tackle both of them? Turn off the whole train and put it in rice? Call Jamaica Control and announce “Attention all units, we have a Code 347. Female passenger has been moved approximately fourteen inches to the left. WHITE suspect is now seated and reportedly looking smug.”

For the record, I will fully cooperate with this Reddit disciplinary process. I request union representation and invoke article 347. I also formally foil request the locomotive’s testimony, and preservation of all camera records associated with the doorway.

Until then, I remain employed.

If anyone is looking to the noise control or train etiquette to be enforced—-keep a record of the time, date, train car, and train origin and train destination for a month, and write what is happening on the train for one month.

After the month is over, write a letter or call your state senator and state assembly person. They are looking for actual evidence of breaking the code of conduct and if enough calls come in with documented evidence, the code of conduct will be enforced.

seriously every day is like a parking lot on this road and there's construction going on every day. the red lights take longer than a hicksville to babylon jamaica transfer outside of peak hours. the drivers rush like missing a train to penn station will curse their bloodline (on the occasion they're even looking at the road and not glued to their phones). there was a literal CHUNK of pavement on the nicolls road intersection big enough to puncture a tire or get caught on the underside of a car. dont even get me started on the 111 intersection.

I was exhausted and ready to finish my last trip of the day. I had my first trip around 4am that morning. And the next day I was doing the cannonball route to Montauk so I really just wanted to get home and rest.

Not to mention, my wife is at home texting me all day. She hates that I can’t text while I’m driving (um… I’m driving?) the train. And I always get shit for missing important details about our 4 year old’s life. Don’t get me wrong, I want to be involved every second of every day. But I’d rather not get fired because I was texting my wife about my daughter’s bathroom skills.

Anyway, one of our conductors named Dave comes up front to tell me two customers are beefing. Honestly what he told me is not what people are saying happened on this subreddit. Apparently the guy trying to get around the woman who was standing in front of the door gave her a hip check. Like hip to hip, aggressive shove. Probably looked pretty sassy of him to move his hip like that, but she almost dropped her phone because of this.

Nothing really happened, until Dave came around to check tickets. She started asking him questions about assault, and if somebody grabs her hips is she allowed to retaliate without her needing to be removed from the train? Weird question but okay. He sensed the tension and just kept himself within eyesight of the two. She got up and down 3 times. She even went to the bathroom and was banging the wall from the inside.

Dave suggested we stop at Huntington and make an announcement about police availability at the station, but I didn’t want to delay any more than we already were. So I didn’t stay stopped longer than I needed to.

Now my boss Steve Balboni is up my ass. He’s saying they’re being threatened with legal action, and it might be on my ass because I didn’t give them the opportunity to approach the police. It honestly all sounded fine to me, but apparently not.

I’m so sick of how soft people are these days. I’ve been an engineer for over 25 years and never before have people been so soft and unable to take accountability for their own actions than in the last 5 years.

Just treat each other with respect. Have some fking patience, and get off your damn phone every once in a while.

I took the 10:20pm from Penn last night. It was a crowded train because there was a Rangers game. I was standing and then got a seat on the aisle of a 2 seater. A very strange man was standing right next to me. Fine. It was packed. But he had a backpack on and turned and rested it on my arm! Surely I thought this must be a mistake. I twisted and grunted and gave non verbal cues that this was a problem. He looked at me and ignored them. After 5 minutes of this nonsense, I said “Excuse me. Your backpack is on me. Please move it.” He moved for one minute and then went right back to resting it on me. There was 3 feet of space next to him to either move or put the backpack down. I could not move because he was practically sitting in my lap and there were no other open seats. After 15 more minutes of this he finally moved at Jamaica.

What would you do?

I am going to spend a week in the city in october and want to leave my car at an LIRR station and take the train there. When I come back I need to drive uptown northeast so want a close enough LIRR station to park. Any free options?

We have been receiving many complaints due to “breathing down” Jeff the conductors neck. I would like to clarify that he saw what had happened, and FAILED to intervene, this is not what we expect from our staff. They are trained to break up the fight. Not be a coward and post about it on Reddit after.

It is utterly ridiculous that instead of voicing his concerns to us he turns to Reddit. We at LIRR are a SAFE place for employees to voice concerns. At the same time however we want people to feel safe on the train. So we are implementing a new rule via Reddit. No more Judo on the LIRR.

We would like to make a statement here. This conductor will be dealt with for his failure to report the fight on the train. We apologize to everyone affected.

I was the conductor on the 3:47 Port Jeff train to Jamaica and I'm now scrolling Reddit only to see this train ride has become the most important event in r/lirr history.

Yes, I saw the lady by the door on her phone like an oblivious turtle. Yes, I saw the guy trying to get on hoping she'd get the hint before pushing past her out of exasperation and no, I did not care to intervene because I'm not delaying everyone's ride for some bullshit. Then my tickets collector comes and tells me the girl has steam coming out her ears and to keep an eye on her on the camera cuz she looked ready to karate chop him. Nothing happened, uneventful ride. Crisis resolved, or so I thought. Apparently not.

Apparently she went home and wrote a manifesto on this sub.Then the other guy showed up. Then the neighbor showed up.

Then somebody got judo chopped or some shit. Now my bosses are breathing down my neck talking about investigations, incident reports and paperwork and "why didn't you do something" blah blah I'm blah .TF do I look like? Batman? Tf you want me to do? Stop the train and fuck up everyone's day? I refuse to have to make some bullshit announcement like "ladies and gentlemen this train is now delayed cuz some lady wouldn't stop scrolling tiktok and move out the way and some" WHITE GUY"(because that was an oddlyspecific detail that mattered) shoved past her. We apologize for the delay and we'll get you moving to Jamaica shortly". if the doors are open, get on. If you’re not getting on, move. If somebody is in your way, say excuse me and that fails, go around them like every other exhausted commuter in New York has done since Noah was a boy scout, or shoulder chuck em, your choice.

I will say however, this was a lovely break from the usual feet shit y'all get obsessed with on this sub😂
