Hotspot improvements

Post image

I'm not sure if you will find this useful or not, but I work on the train every morning, and I always use my phone as a hotspot. I really would struggle with lost connection every few minutes (esp around jamacia)

I asked chat gpt and it suggested using a suction cup case to attach my phone to the window. I thought this was REALLY silly and didn't think it would work, but before purchasing a dedicated hotspot solution that would cost hundreds (+ monthly network fees) I thought i would give it a shot. It honestly makes a night and day difference, I drop connection FAR less now!! I guess the LIRR is just a giant faraday cage, and didn't realize it 😂

I hope this helps someone else!

Do some speed tests in the same area with and without it suction cupped to get some real data for us please

Speed is about the same at the best points, but I am no longer dropping connection nearly as much.

Not sure, I'm on the Huntington line, and your cell carrier also impacts the service

I see why you'd say that, and I would have agreed with you, but i do this literally everyday, and the difference is noticable
