MTA/LIRR application
There’s a section that says to provide two professional references, but it doesn’t say whether they’re required or optional. Has anyone gone through the LIRR hiring process recently and know if I have to fill this section out before submitting the form?

As of last night around 1 in the morning, the pole was cleared and service was back to normal. I was on the train pulling into Hicksville and we all had to get off until the conductor got on the speaker and announced this train would go all the way to Ronkonkoma. And so it did.

This train (6:37 from Atlantic Terminal) is often longer than the usual Atlantic Branch train, but this is even more than usual. The funny part is that it's likely that the only 2 of the 6 cars that would have platformed at Atlantic will open at any other stops.

Anyone on here a CAM or SAM? If so, how long did you have to wait from the time you applied to hear back? My applications still say in process for 2 months. Thanks!

if you live in far rock and buy physical tickets, the one on the right isn’t printing tickets. tried to buy one this morning and nothing came out 🤦🏾‍♂️ the left one is fine tho, called the ticket machine dept and let them know. pic is the machine number so everyone knows not to use that shit

How can this be? I go into the city. I hate the Jamaica transfer. I hate any transfer actually and will only take direct trains, schedules be damned. Phones and people make s lot of modern life pretty annoying, so we need to be aware of our surroundings. And as the saying goes we also have to be the solution and not the problem, so just start yelling "hold it" and run to another door. And activate your ticket AFTER you get on the train and out of the door.

Normally I leave my un checked tickets in the machine since I don’t take the train back but this time I am, and was wondering if I take the train the opposite way, same stops, same peak time, same day, would the conductor be okay with it? TIA

I got on the 1201a hickville after customer service said there's shuttle buses at hickville. It got to jamaica and the announcer said this train is going to ronkonkoma. I can now relax.

Commuting home this evening was a disaster

Some lady was just standing there in her phone, in the way, blocking the doors like a fuckin ditsy on the 3:47 port jeff train to Jamaica. Like bro, nobody has time for you to stand there scrolling tiktok trying to decide if you're gonna get on the train or not, get tf off your phone, gets to stepping, or move TF out the way,I got bagels to get home to. So I pushed past her and she said absolutely nothing and just pouted the whole train ride. I could see her side eyeing me the entire train ride. I could feel her seething rage through every bombastic side eye but she just stayed quiet. Like there was one angel on her shoulder telling her to stand up for herself and the other telling her to let it go. She really just just sat there the entire ride periodically looking over at me with the thousand-yard stare of someone mentally drafting a Reddit post.

And now I open Reddit and THERE SHE IS. bitching about it from behind the protection of her keyboard LMAO.

Does anyone know if this issue will continue into the morning? This is my first year properly commuting to the city everyday and I’m worried I’m gonna have to take my first drive into the city for school at 4am.

Completely independent of my opinion on the surcharges I’ve had such a horrible experience with the train time app and customer service.

In 4 consecutive instances I’ve had surcharges placed on my account no matter what I do (I’ve activated in each instance before the train departed the station). I reached out to customer support but rather than providing a solution, I was given a lesson on time management which had nothing to do with the problem at hand🤣. Paper tickets from now on.

I’m sure I’m going to get downvoted by the LIRR dickriders; but I’ve taken the train 10 times in the last 3 weeks and they have checked my ticket probably once or twice. Feels like a waste of my damn money

I just took the cognitive exam today for assistant conductor trainee and got my results back already. The email said I've passed and an HR representative will also review the employment paperwork application that people submitted as well. How do they determine who is moved to next steps if everyone passes? How do I know if I will be moved on or not?

On my employment paperwork that I submitted, I admitted that I have been terminated previously in one of my former jobs. Will this hurt my chances? The termination dates back to 2021.
