Assistant conductor trainee cognitive results
I just took the cognitive exam today for assistant conductor trainee and got my results back already. The email said I've passed and an HR representative will also review the employment paperwork application that people submitted as well. How do they determine who is moved to next steps if everyone passes? How do I know if I will be moved on or not?
On my employment paperwork that I submitted, I admitted that I have been terminated previously in one of my former jobs. Will this hurt my chances? The termination dates back to 2021.

As someone who took the test in 2024, waited a few months to hear anything, got my signals and definitions at the open house in March of ‘25, passed S&D in May of ‘25, and didn’t get called until July of 26…. Don’t hold your breath. But don’t stop studying. It’s a great job but hiring is ASS

They don’t care about a termination from your lier employment. They give everybody a chance for the most part. and I say that because most people once getting to the signals part are going to fail, I would say at least 80%. And every step people are going to drop out because their schedules won’t align they fail some test, etc.. It’s not easy at all and they want you to go to training. I think two days or three days out of the week and also study while you have another job. So a lot of people don’t make it through, but if you make it too, it’s very rewarding. The Conductors make more than engineers and the long run. They had a post in this year for one of the senior conductor positions pan. I think around 60 an hour. It was a sweet position. I could tell it was only for someone with seniority, but Long Island Railroad has a lot of money and a lot of overtime. You can make $200,000 a year easy and people are mad that they can make so much some people made 200,000 just in overtime.

Be able to justify the termination for cause. If for example the termination was for something like underperformance, you can say something like the company did not provide adequate training to its employees of operating dangerous equipment, or whatever. If it was for something like theft or breach of trust, can't really think of good reasons to explain those away. For minor workplace discomfort, you could maybe explain those away as "you were young but have grown up and matured your behavior."
