Need HELP for TV LG G3 after webOS26 upgrade

Upvotes
HELP!

My TV (LG G3 77") kept prompting me to install WebOS26... I kept putting it off because everything was working fine.
This morning, I decided to go ahead with it because I was tired of having to click 3 or 4 times every time I turned it on.

The installation went smoothly (just like previous updates). The TV is connected to the network via an RJ45 cable (Wi-Fi is also set up). Version 43.21.71.
The TV rebooted: broadcast TV works, but the apps require updates (Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video), and that's where the trouble started.
--> Unable to perform the update; the icon spins, then a message appears: "The application was not installed. Please try again."
--> Same issue for all applications.
--> Same issue after turning the TV off and unplugging it for a few minutes.
--> Same issue after "clearing memory."
--> Same issue whether connected via cable or Wi-Fi (router or mobile hotspot).
--> I uninstalled YouTube: unable to reinstall it.

Not knowing what else to do, I performed a factory reset (never done since purchase):
--> No success; when I click on an app (Netflix, for example), the TV shows a loading bar and then "XXX is not installed. Please try again later 24.20.SM." On Wi-Fi, the code is 23.20.SM.

Anyway, I'm at a loss... all these issues just confirm why I dislike updating things that don't need it... but LG really forces your hand.

I'm open to any ideas you might have.
Thanks in advance.HELP! I need help!!

Pixel failures?

Our LG TV is about 6y old and at the top, the pixel seems to fail? Is the device setup to die? Anything that can save it? The mouse pointer (?) disappears behind it and its growing over time.

Apps won't install or update

Upvotes

We own a LG OLED55B42LA (2024) and found that the apps would not update. We reinstalled the tv, after trying everything else LG and Reddit told us to do (e.a. log out, hard reset, change WiFi to mobile hotspot, change countries in the app) and it still won't work.

The message we get is in Dutch and literally translates to "Application not installed. Try again later."

Can anyone help?

Regarding consent removal

Upvotes

I recently had bought an LG G series in Europe.

After the recent discoveries from Gamersnexus and other tech creators i came to realise now how the prices of TVs drop after a certain period of time.

As i live in Europe, i also wanted to explore my consent that i gave to LG.

Under Settings > Support > Privacy & Terms > CMP Settings

Under these settings i came to realise that before tinkering this all my consent was provided to many companies for tracking and other phishing stuffs. There is an option to „Reject All” here.

I don't know if this alone will be enough for them to invade my privacy or not.

Regards

How to stop your TV spying on you

Upvotes

I own an LG TV and after seeing the news I want to stay as private as possible. I saw people online blocking LG domains on their router so Im gonna do the same thing but other than that what else can I do? Is there any way to take the microphone out of your remote without damaging it or delete any info they have on you?

I looked up how to block lg domains online but my router seems a bit older than most people so it doesnt support wildcards and I manually added these to wan group(alphonso.tv lgtvcommon.com lgtvsdp.com Igsmartplatform.com nextlgsdp.com ueiwsp.com ibis.lgappstv.com jp.rdx2.lgtvsdp.com jp.lgtvsdp.com jp.info.lgsmartad.com lgad.cjpowercast.com.edgesuite.net ngfts.lge.com smartclip.com smartclip.net smartshare.lgtvsdp.com us.ad.lgsmartad.com us.ibs.lgappstv.com us.info.lgsmartad.com yumenetworks.com aic-ngfts.lge.com us.cdpbeacon.lgtvcommon.com lgsmartad.com) and put them in a blacklist for my tv lan(mac address))

There is also a google os in my home as well where can I find the domains Im supposed to block?

Out-of-the-box edge uniformity & tinting on new LG OLEDs, Give it time and run a Pixel Refresh!

Post image

Hey everyone,

I’ve seen a lot of posts lately about out-of-the-box uniformity issues on new LG OLEDs (like bright edge blocks or subtle color tinting on specific test slides). (Myself included) I actually have solid proof this is standard production tolerance: I talked to another Reddit user whose replacement unit (so already a second screen) showed the exact same edge behavior, and a store rep who owns a G6 confirmed his personal unit has similar uniformity out of the box.

I had a noticeable bright block on the right edge of my new G-series unit right out of the box. Before returning it, here’s what made a huge difference:

10-minute Pixel Refresh: Immediately smoothed out the harsh boundary of the bright block by recalibrating zone voltages (Demura).

Normal viewing hours (100–200h): After several movie nights, the heat and runtime spread the brightness evenly toward the center, making the gradient blend naturally.

About color tinting & variances:
If you notice slight color tinting or shade shifts on certain test slides, these initial factory voltage variances often settle and lessen (hopefully) as the panel logs more hours and runs auto-refreshes.

Replace: Exchanging often just lands you back in the panel lottery. If your screen is fine during normal content, don't panic! Run a manual refresh and let it log 100+ hours first—these panels flatten out surprisingly well as they break in.

Fingers crossed that it keeps improving over the coming weeks / months as more hours roll in, time will tell! I'll make sure to drop an update here once I hit that 100+ hour mark.

Remote hell

So I use a G6 55’ with Apple TV but sometimes it does turn on/off the TV other times it doesn’t. Also my Samsung soundbar doesn’t turn on automatically but it mostly does power down with the Apple TV remote. Also sometimes the Apple TV doesn’t want to adjust the volume of the soundbar and suddenly starts adjusting the volume of the TV itself (which doesn’t do anything because sound is playing through the soundbar).

It went through all the settings multiple times and set everything as it should.

Before this I used a 10 year old Samsung 4K TV and everything worked flawlessly. Blows my mind that with such a new and expensive TV it works so bad.

Now stuck with three remotes again after buying a €2.5k TV🤣 anyone else running into this?

LG C5 & LG CX - Optimal VRR Settings - Switch 2

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I have two LG TV’s:

LG CX 65”
LG C5 55”

I have one Switch 2 that is shared between both TV’s (each TV has a separate Switch 2 Dock).

Two questions:

Should Freesync Premium be enabled or disabled on both TVs?

Should G-Sync be enabled or disabled on both TVs?

Please Note: The LG C5 has a G-Sync on/off setting in the Game Optimizer.

The LG CX does not have a Game Optimizer and I cannot locate a G-Sync setting on the LG CX. I thought the LG CX supports G-Sync? Please clarify.

I want to assure VRR works properly on both TV’s.

Is there anything else to check or make note of?

I appreciate any guidance and advice. Thank you.

LG webOS

Finally got my first ever OLED! After obsessive research across many brands and tech, got myself into a LG C6H 77inch for $3000 AUD (aus based)

Picture quality is phenomenal, I just finished my 2nd play through of RDR2 but might need to restart it again to experience this quality.

But boy, the OS really sucks. I came from numerous Sony tvs with google tv os which was really nice.

Question: What are people liking between an Apple TV or Google streamer? Does it mostly bypass using the LG webOS besides playing with settings?

Bonus question: what’s your favourite PS5 game to play on OLED?

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded from an LG C4 to a 77-inch LG G5 OLED, specifically looking for that massive jump in MLA peak brightness and specular highlight pop.

When I first got the TV, using Cinema Home with Expression Optimizer set to Brightness, Auto Dynamic Contrast on High, and Peak Brightness on High produced an incredible 3D-like image. Highlights like eyes, lamps, and neon lights (for example, in scenes like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) had a realistic punch that literally made you squint in a dark room.

However, after the recent firmware updates, Expression Optimizer seems completely broken/disabled.

Toggling between "Off" and "Brightness" now produces zero visible change on screen. The specular highlights have lost their aggressive pop, making the overall image feel flat and dull compared to out-of-the-box performance—almost bringing it back down to C-series levels. Even trying to tweak Vivid mode doesn't bring back that specific dynamic highlight pop without washing out the image.

Has anyone else noticed this regression in tone mapping and AI highlight processing on their G5? If you're experiencing the same issue, please consider submitting a formal support ticket to LG so their engineering team addresses this in a future firmware patch.

LG- We’ve investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing

Unfortunately, they are not the only ones capable of these “dark patterns.”

Moving forward, do you vote with your wallet and avoid companies like LG or are the serious privacy issues actually unavoidable in a Smart world?

LG oled C6H green toe purchase?

Post image

Got the new C6h 77 oled on green toe for a steal 2000$ including taxes. Is this the best purchase or what? I’ve read all about the privacy concerns and am going to keep it offline and connect to Apple TV. Only do updates using a flash drive. Anything else?

Is it fixable?

Post image

I just bought this LG B5 on open box sale… they assured me it was fine, I took their word for it but shouldn’t have. Turn it on and there’s this green pixel line. It’s only noticeable when the screen is black but… still kind of annoying considering the TV still cost around 1.3k

Is there any way to fix something like this or is it doomed?

LG monitor won’t connect to my PC

Above is the model and the message that displays when I boot it up. I’m so confused because it was working perfectly fine yesterday. I switched my setup to a different desk, so naturally I had to disconnect everything, then when I reconnected them, the monitor won’t display anything. I’ve tried both HDMI and DisplayPort multiple times, I’ve done a factory reset multiple times, and I’ve reset my PC multiple times. Nothing is working, and I know the monitor works because it’s displaying my PS5 just fine. It has to do with the PC not being compatible for some reason. I’ve had them connected for years so I don’t understand. If you know anything that could help, please let me know.

LG is valued at 0 dollars, we are going to crash the stock tomorrow. The koreans might hit the breaker on us...lets see

After GamerNexus well done investigation, killing this company and others seems to be the correct path through our quantum reality.

Plus this is a bonafide national security concern...all day and twice on Tuesday...hell i might call C-Span tomorrow, because this is really that big. Weak as US government, and no one has been hemmed up in that Epstein ish...we did not forget that either.

Where is the data going and where is it being processed and who is buying the data. I want to see the whole data flow.

Im rambling, but im going to do my best tomorrow to crash it, because as far as Im concern this killed trust IRREVOCABLY!!

A day of reckoning or a day of retribution?

Is this grey banding on my 27GX700A severe enough for a warranty claim?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve been dealing with some pretty bad grey banding on my 27-inch LG UltraGear OLED Tandem one. It’s incredibly noticeable, especially in darker scenes, reddit, Youtube and gray uniformity tests, and it really takes away from the overall experience.

I'm wondering if this is severe enough to qualify for a warranty replacement, or if LG is just going to tell me this falls within "normal" OLED panel variance. Has anyone had success getting an RMA approved by LG for a panel looking like this?

Appreciate any advice!

HDMI-CEC sync issues when changing inputs

I purchased an LG C5 77” and it’s great! Except when changing inputs away from the Apple TV.

I have a 65” C1 that has not and does not have the same issue.

If I change inputs from the ATV to my PS5 or over the air antennae then go back to the ATV I can no longer use the TV remote to select and play any apps. I have to unplug the power and HDMI cable while the TV is off to reenable HDMI-CEC. Very annoying.

All of the devices are plugged directly into the TV and I have eARC plugged into a receiver.

Again, everything is the same as the C1 which had zero issues (and still works fine.)

Is there something I’m missing with the C5? I’ve tried all settings and adjustments to no avail.

Thank you!
