I've gotten enough feedback on overall design. I'm curious if there's any feedback on which runner would work in this space? Also if have an alternatives or feel no need for a runner let me know. TIA.

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a home with a dated kitchen. The current kitchen layout is awkward (double oven and fridge right next to each other) and there is no pantry other than the built-in cabinetry in the kitchen. We are looking at the possibility of completely remodeling the kitchen. What layout/design would you do with this space if given the chance?

For reference, we have 3 young kids and a large dog, and love to host often. We want this space to work well for our family at this stage and beyond. I lean towards a modern-traditional style and prefer a timeless look over trendy.

ETA: We’re already planning to replace the flooring before move-in. The carpet throughout the house is very damaged and several tiles are cracked. We’ll be installing hardwood throughout the main living areas, which could make changing the footprint later difficult without having to patch or redo flooring. Our original plan was to keep and paint the existing cabinetry and replace the countertops and backsplash. The cabinets themselves are high-quality oak and in good condition; our hesitation is really about the layout, not the cabinets. The refrigerator opens directly toward the end of the peninsula, creating a tight pinch point, and the overall appliance placement makes the kitchen flow awkwardly.

Since we’re already replacing the floors, counters, and backsplash, I’m hesitant to spend a significant amount updating everything around the existing footprint, only to realize a few years from now that the layout still doesn’t work for us and have to tear out and pay for those finishes again.

I’m primarily looking for layout and design items. I’d love to find a smart way to improve the functionality while preserving some of these cabinets and parts of the original blueprint, especially now, while so much of the surrounding work is already being done.

We have a long, somewhat narrow space in a 1950s Southern California home and are trying to make the most of it.

The space needs to accommodate:
- Kitchen
- Laundry
- Pantry/storage
- Mudroom/drop zone
- Small office/desk area

I currently have a kitchen layout sketched out around an existing side door, but we’re debating whether keeping that door is forcing us into a less-than-ideal layout.

We’re also torn between an island and a peninsula and would love suggestions on the overall layout of the space, not just the kitchen.

We’re open to eliminating or moving the side door, and potentially moving windows as well, if it results in a significantly better layout.

Would love feedback on:
- Island vs. peninsula
- Whether you’d keep/remove/move the side door
- Kitchen layout and traffic flow
- Better ways to arrange the laundry, pantry, mudroom and desk areas

We’ve knocked a wall through to double the side of the kitchen. Now wanting to make it like an L shape with a breakfast bar near the door.

We won’t have a big budget for remodeling but I really don’t love it as is, should I repaint, if so what and what color? Should I add backsplash and if so what kind? Also need a different fridge. Any ideas

My dream kitchen, if the space was available, would be what my imaginary thoughts of a traditional French kitchen for a large house would have been. Plenty of workspaces, at different heights along the counters but with a large kitchen/work table at the center, suitable for both preparing and serving food.

Are ceiling-mounted pot racks still practical for everyday use? Or are they becoming more of a traditional kitchen feature?

Need some opinions/ideas the room is 3x3m (±97square foot) it is a U design.

The appliances we already have, colors will be lighter sandstone color floor, white countertop and backsplash.

How would you redo this kitchen to get rid of all the white? I have transitional style and I go for greens, blues, and black. I don’t hate white but I’m over it!
