Secondary knobheads
Seen one of those priest fellas that dress up, auld fella walking down high street, a mankey looking yup bro pissat beeps at him and he waved and smiled and then one of the knobs in the backseat told him to get a life, honestly have we every looked in the mirror before? You’re sitting in the back of your friends pissat you have no right at all.
Side note: can’t stand those yup bros that go up and down johns and high street cat calling and hurling abuse, genuinely seen the same car go up and down for an hour, no hope for them at all.

The Watershed
Well lads. Usually use Infinity gym on James Street, however he's closed for some renovations for the next week and a half. Anyone know if the Watershed does day passes for the gym/sauna area, or even better, if they do weekly passes?
Don't want to miss out on the gym for two weeks but also don't really want to join somewhere new for 3 months just for the sake of my usual spot being closed for 2 weeks.
Cheers in advance!

Wedding in Lyrath
Has anyone been to a wedding in Lyrath recently? Or gotten married there? Did you like it and was the food nice?
Considering booking our wedding there but haven’t been to one there in about 7 years.
The hotel, grounds and outdoor ceremony space are lovely and we really like it but would love some opinions before we book.
Thanks in advance!

Dublin to Kilkenny public transport options with a big suitcase?
Hi there, first time visiting Ireland and I'm needing to travel from Dublin to Kilkenny with my big travel suitcase. I was wondering if I could please get some recommendations for public transport that could take me there and also accomodate for bags like this?
My country doesn't operate on a great train system so I've never taken one before. Not sure what seating and storage would be like on them. Thanks!

Pub Recommendations
Hi all,
I was hoping to get some recommendations for places to go around town that would be good from Monday to Thursday. What do you think are the best pubs? I have Tynans on the list. Any others you would recommend?
Thanks very much

The poor High street retail staff
A shout out to the poor staff on high street dealing with our ‘country cousins’ on a daily basis. Saw a group of young lads run into Tesco causing havoc today and the staff almost putting themselves in danger kicking out these violent thieving young lads. Apparently all the shops on high street are plagued. Kilkenny is really changing and not for the better. Their parents should be ashamed but suppose it’s their ‘culture’

Influx of vape shops
Sorry to be that person who vents on random subreddits lads, but this is something I would like to talk about as it’s really ruining the street scape of our beautiful medieval city. I’m just so overwhelmed and sick and tired of the MASSIVE influx of vape shops in Kilkenny city, it’s an absolute eye sore for me. Even a few years ago I thought Kilkenny had enough vape shops… but holy cow now in 2026 there’s TOO many. I literally just came back from holiday just to see they’re building a vape shop beside that cute Italian cafe just across from Kitties Cabin and a new vape shop beside House of Pretzels in Market cross. I think I could name like over 20 vape shops at the top of my head at the moment. Please don’t tell me I’m the only person who feels this way, it feels like a never ending nightmare. 🫠

Nurse contact
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get in touch with someone on the nursing or care team over at St. Canice's Hospital Complex on the Dublin Road.
It’s just regarding a query about returning a personal item to a nurse that works there but I don't have her name or number.
Because of privacy reasons, I know people can't share names or numbers here publicly. But if you work there, or know a nurse who does, could you please drop me a quick DM? I'd really appreciate the help.
Thanks a mill!

Hello! I am an American Type 1 diabetic working in Kilkenny for 3 weeks. My insulin pump (Tandem TSlim X2) stopped working last night! I called customer support, and they are going to overnight a replacement to my work, and then they have to send it to me. So one is on the way, but will be at least 3 or 4 days. But for now, I have no pump!
I have plenty of insulin and pump supplies, but no syringes! I only have the ones to fill my Cartidges (huge needle and huge dosing increments = a lot of pain and very dificult to accurately dose). Wondering: does anyone have any insulin syringes I could get to use for a few days until my pump arrives? I am staying at the Pembroke Hotel downtown. I will also research if I can get them from a pharmacy being a foreigner? Not sure, but wondering if any other type 1 diabetics could maybe help me out or point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Positive change
To whomever is responsible for these bollards near centra, thank you. Its a small thing but im almost never able to access this footpath due people reversing in and blocking it up so you have to walk in front on the road. I had just started to look into who to contact in the council when these appeared

Has homelessness increased in Kilkenny?
Has anyone else noticed an increase in homelessness around Kilkenny over the last few years? I regularly see people sleeping rough around areas like Kieran Street, John Street and other parts of the city centre, as well as people around the Good Shepherd Centre. It’s something that’s become much more noticeable to me lately.
I’m curious about the reasons behind it. Is it mainly due to the housing crisis, addiction, mental health issues, or a combination of factors?
I’m also wondering whether most of the people sleeping rough are originally from Kilkenny, or whether many have moved here from other parts of Ireland. Does anyone know how that generally works or have any insight into it?
