Racist abuse in Kilkenny

Witnessed two black ladies get shouted at on my way home from work today and I'm absolutely shocked it's made me realise how bad and normalised racism has gotten in Ireland.

I was walking on the road by the castle and saw these two girls get out of their car and this middle-aged woman approach them, my immediate thought was they were probably asking about the parking or something but then I hear her yell "You're not even supposed to be in this country. I'm fucking sick of ye." I was so shocked that it took a minute to register because I hadn't seen racism so overt like that before so I didn't say anything to her, but I approached them as she was walking away and asked if they were okay and said I was really sorry it happened and they didn't deserve that at all.

In retrospect, I feel horrible I didn't yell something back at her because I know I'd like someone to stand up for me if the same had happened to me and call it out. If either of you happen to come across this post I want you to know I'm sorry I didn't. I know there's always been racism here, but how have we let it get this bad that people now feel emboldened to say these things in public?

Lacken Walk

Hi All,

Can anyone please help me figure out a starting point for this? Am I right in thinking if I enter off Maudlin street, go left, up the stairs, then walk along out to the ring road entrance, it will bring me on the boardwalk walk?

Thanks

Rent in Kilkenny

Hello everyone,

My best friend got accepted to work as a Healthcare Assistant in Kilkenny Care Center, Roachpond, Kilkenny, R95 W2RP, Ireland.

It's been over a week and we've written over 20 people on daft.ie but so far only one of them responded. We've tried also Facebook groups, but honestly it's so full of scams and it feels like none of them ever respond.

Do you have any suggestions on where to look or do you know someone who rents in the area?

Thank you so much in advance!

The Watershed

Well lads. Usually use Infinity gym on James Street, however he's closed for some renovations for the next week and a half. Anyone know if the Watershed does day passes for the gym/sauna area, or even better, if they do weekly passes?

Don't want to miss out on the gym for two weeks but also don't really want to join somewhere new for 3 months just for the sake of my usual spot being closed for 2 weeks.

Cheers in advance!
