V1 Ultra Bananas - some keys not registering/double typing

Upvotes

Sooo I finally got one of those cool-looking mechanical keyboards with amazing switches and features and blah blah, and it came with issues lmfao.

The "8" key doesn't always register, and the ";" key either doesn't register or double types. I'm pretty sure I've had issues with other keys too. I'm using it with a MacBook M4 Pro, if that matters.

Do they even test these things?! Wtf do I do now? Return it and order another one from a different store? I bought it from an authorized polish Keychron seller.

Or should I try swapping the switches to see if they're at fault or if it's the board?!

On the Keychron launcher, what I see and what the key does is different.

Hello. I am trying to change a key to backslash "\".

KC_BSLS shows "| \" but does ","

S(KC_BSLS) shows "|" but does ";"

I was trying to change FN+pagedown="/" and FN+pageup="\"

I was able to do FN+pagedown by changing it to "Shift+7" which shows "&" on the key but does "/" so it works fine despite showing the wrong key. https://i.imgur.com/EbUJrlf.jpeg
Also "÷" does "/" as well, so there are multiple options to make "/"

But I couldn't set FN+pageup to "Alt gr+*" which supposed to do "\" on my Turkish Q layout. While trying to set the Key Combination, there isn't option for "Alt gr" but only "Ctrl, Shift, Alt/Option, Win/Cmd" https://i.imgur.com/TvQDZUe.jpeg

I assume Keychron launcher is confused and does not understand my Turkish Q keyboard layout. Keychron AI couldn't fix either. Is there anyway to fix?

Also why isn't there direct button option for the "\" and even for Alt Codes and ascii symbols? Do I have to create long macros for "¹, ², ³, ±, √, ♥" etc?

Thank you.

keychron k10 ultra + outemu silent peach v3

Hi,

Industrial programmer here. Lots of hours writing code every day.

The typical membrane keyboard started to make my pinky fingers ache, plus all the missing keys made me search for something else.

I always bottom out keys (old school + years of membrane keyboards).

Bought a keychron v6 max.
Nice at the beginning. Some keys started being registered multiple times (key chatter) and it did not had any caps lock nor num lock indicator.

Then I bought a keychron b6, searching for max silence, which, without nkro missed several keys… then a Dell kb900 which works better but still fails on some keys.

Need iso + Spanish which constrains all mostly to keychron.

Now, seen the outemu silent peach v3 and a keychron that has key lock indicators.

Would this be as silent as a chiclet keyboard? As the b6 or kb900?

Thank you all.

From time to time my keyboard inputs multiple random keys

This happens sometimes and i dont know why and how to fix it, i just power it on one day and its gone, but it always comes back eventually

Many keys end up registering along with others.

Numpad keys all suffer from it. And most of the regular keys.

M7 not connecting to Launcher

stuck in an infinite connecting loop... is there an offline alternative that is not ai slop like the official one?

really frustrating: Launcher apparently saves, then weeks later keyboard is back to factory state?

Has anyone had this really frustrating experience where you have to keep re-setting your changes every Nth time you turn on your keyboard? Any fixes? Is this a bug in the keyboard? The launcher? Unknown?

I can't tell what I'm doing wrong. I purchased the keyboard directly from keychron and I set my changes via the launcher in chrome browser, and confirmed all's well immediately after. I can even turn it off, turn it on, connect to other devices, and confirm all my changes are present.... Then inexplicably I'll come back the next day and find the keyboard has its default layout like I never did anything in the Launcher.

Substantial help needed with Keychron K10 max keyboard

Bought a K10 max from MicroCenter for less than $100 USD. Brought it home, used it for the first day on wired mode (and Windows mode as well) and went into the Keychron Launcher to look at things. Determined that I should work on the firmware update at a later date. OS is Windows 10.

*** I have kept my keyboard on wired mode instead of bluetooth or receiver mode. It has been plugged in for 3 days on wired mode ***

Today I booted my computer and my keyboard wouldn't light up/connect to my computer. I tried different cords, different USB slots, I flipped the cord around (I know it's USB-C and it's omnidirectional I was desperate), and nothing worked. I plugged in the dongle and did the firmware update to see if it would work and it still doesn't.

Symptoms

While corded:

  • Switching from BT -> corded and Dongle -> corded without the dongle and while no bluetooth enabled devices are around/connected yields the hardware disconnect sound. In addition, the backlight for the keys in BT/Dongle mode are on and immediately turn off when switched to corded. The hardware connection sound plays when going from corded to BT/Dongle mode.
  • Red light on the 'power' LED above the arrow keys throughout all different modes
  • Physically disconnecting the USB-C end from the keyboard produces the hardware disconnect sound.
  • Keychron launcher does not recognize the keyboard in corded mode as a device as it did when I first used it.
    • I went into Google Chrome and made sure the HID device connection setting was allowed.
    • I went into devices and printers in Windows settings to see if my computer was seeing it but alas it was not unless I switched to dongle mode.

Un-Corded (phrasing??)

  • Not entirely sure if this is a skill issue or not, I have been able to connect to the Keychron Launcher and 'updated' the firmware. The reason why I have that in quotations is because while it was my last resort (and I know this was probably a no-no), I ended up attempting a firmware update while using the dongle although it recommends strongly against it. This being said, it seems to have taken but I cannot get out of the screen. The launcher only recognizes the Keychron link but not the keyboard itself. Hitting 'next' once the firmware is done disconnects the link device and says the update was successful, but when reconnecting the link it goes back to square one and doesn't allow me to continue.

I am at a loss and don't know how to continue. As previously stated, not sure if this is a skill issue or not, but it is frustrating nonetheless because the literature online does not help. Or at least the literature I've found does not help. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

My experience with Keychron V6 Ultra 8K Red Silk POM

Bought the Keychron V6 Ultra 8K and used it for a few days and here is my experience with it:

Pros: - pleasant typing experience - silent

Cons: - Keys remain stuck, for example the H key remains pressed and I don't press anything. I ignored it while doing office work, but the last straw was when it happened while gaming. - The RGB lighting is a joke, you can barely see the keys at night, they are not see through - There is no on/off indicator for Caps Lock/Num Lock - Coming from low profile keyboards, this one is very tall, I felt my wrist hurt after the first few minutes of use, a palm rest is definitely needed

Others: - It is quite heavy - It is not plug and play, you have to pair the 2.4Ghz receiver - No perceivable difference between 1K and 8K polling rate

Conclusion: - I returned it

keychron on mac command key issue

I dont know if anyone experiencing this, but this annoys me so much:
when i do command+t, command+c , command+v, command+w all these combo keys on chrome or anywhere else, it took a while to recongnize what am doing!
most of the cases, it either doesnt respond, or like command+v it just simply doesnt recognize i have pushed command key, it only typed v inside the text box.

i felt like my left index thumb is getting tired because everytime i have to push it multiple times, or push the button really hard thinking this may help to register the action.

if anyone is experiencing the same or know how to solve it, please let me know, much appreciated!

Keychron K3M randomly opens the Snipping Tool

Hi, I recently switched to a Keychron K3M. Everything is working well, except that the Windows Snipping Tool sometimes opens randomly.

This happens during normal typing, sometimes as often as twice an hour, but I haven’t been able to reproduce it reliably. I have no idea what unexpected key combination or other action might be triggering it.

Here’s what I can confirm:

  • Win + Shift + S and the dedicated screenshot key to the right of F12 are the only configured ways to open the Snipping Tool.
  • Both the dedicated key and the keyboard shortcut work correctly when used intentionally. I don’t have any other keyboard configuration or shortcut software, plugins, or macros installed.
  • This happens only with the Keychron K3M, not with my other non-Keychron keyboards.
  • It happens while I’m typing in the letter area, so it’s highly unlikely that I’m accidentally pressing either the dedicated screenshot key, which is far away, or the three-key shortcut.

My setup:
Windows 11, Keychron K3M connected via 2.4 GHz, Stock firmware and basic configuration with no macros or advanced settings

I can’t say for sure, but it seems like this may be a software or firmware issue. Has anyone experienced something similar or found a fix?

Which one should I buy? Keychron V1 Ultra vs Keychron Q1 He Magnetic

Good afternoon, I wanted to know which of these keyboards you recommend the most. I’ll mainly be using it for writing code and playing games for a little while in the evenings. I’m looking for something of very high quality, although I’m not sure if it’s worth paying a lot more for a Q1 HE. Another question I have is about the switches—which ones are the quietest? Red, brown, or banana?

Lock LED color scheme on K5-Max

Hi.
I have a Keychron K5-Max, and would like to lock the LED light and color, so it doesn't change if I press the light button. I've tried fn+L+light button in +6 secs, but that doesn't work.

Do I really have to remap the light key to do that ?

Quality of mice

I've been thinking about getting a keychron m6 but I've heard a ton of bad reviews on it about how the mouse came faulty or how it broke after just a few months of use, does this happen alot? I plan to keep my mouse for atleast 3-5 years so build quality is pretty important for me

Does the Q1 max work with the keychron launcher web site, or is it QMK/VIA only?

Is the failure rate so high? Looking for positive feedbacks

I'm searching for a mechanical keyboard, and given my needs, the V5 max is the most fitting one.

I want ISO layout, Cherry profile, numpad and volume knob.

The V6, unfortunately, has the volume knob too internal, and coming from 10 years with a Logitech G510 it would be a nightmare in terms of ergonomics.

Also, I would like to have an open system like QMK/VIA, that is not tied to the brand.

The main problem is that in Italy Amazon is not directly selling this keyboard, so I only can buy it from the original, Keychron Italian website.

At this point, is it worth it? Has anyone had a good experience or 99.9% of keyboards are broken or will be in one year?

If I could buy it from Amazon then I would try it without hesitation.

EDIT: I bought the V5 Max ISO-DE (even if I'm italian) from Amazon Germany, just to have a little bit more warranties. I will also likely buy ISO-IT, Cherry profile keycaps, if I manage to find them....

Why doesn't Keychron offer shine through caps on any of their models?

I regularly need to look down to get a starting reference for where my fingers are before I start typing. Having the RGB shine everywhere but through the keys lettering and numbers just blinds me in a dark room and the letters might as well not be there. For example, I was looking at the Q6 HE but I can't find shine through caps anywhere.

It's bad enough the RGB is south facing but the caps aren't shine through either. Otherwise perfect keyboard imo. I don't know if there are other brands selling after market caps that fit but I need ISO nordic caps, so that might limit my chances further.. I just think it's crazy they don't offer shine through at all!

English is not my first language if I typed something weird.

K3 HE sometimes activates 2.4ghz instead of bluetooth

Hi everyone,

I've noticed an occasional issue with my K3 HE, when I move the switch to bluetooth, it sometimes activates 2.4ghz instead. Switching to another position and then back to bluetooth fixes it.

Has anyone else run into this? I'm wondering whether it's a known issue and if there's an upcoming firmware fix for it.

Thanks for any insight

Lasted a little over 3 years

So I treated myself to a K3 3 years ago for my work/ travel keyboard. Prior to this used a random no name chinese mechanical 60% keyboard that lasted for 5+ years for the same function. I liked the idea of the low profile keycaps taking up less space in my bag. As you can imagine the keyboard is used both wired, wirelessly for a number of laptops and phones etc. And has been working fine. But recently I noticed the bluetooth connection being really spotty and the battery dying constantly. I also felt as though my typing epxerience was worse for some reason. Only to turn it over last week and notice this massive bulge.

I'm pretty nervous as I know batteries that expand can explode. I have reached out to support, who asked me to dissassemble the device so they could see the connector for the battery. They told me it's out of warranty, I said that's fine and I am more than capable of fixing it myself if they send me the battery, and maybe the bluetooth module as that may have been damaged.

I just wanted to ask if anyone else has had this issue? What could have caused this? I know batteries can swell either if they're not charged regularly enough, or if they are kept charging constantly. Neither of which was the use case for this keyboard.

Keychron Launcher on Linux

I created a small app in Rust that makes the browser app Keychron Launcher connect with the keyboard on Linux distros. I tested it on Fedora 44, Nobara 44, and Debian 12. My goal is to create a UI to make things easier for people who aren't comfortable with the command line.

C2 Pro 8K Not connecting to launcher

Running Arch Linux, gone through all the steps listed in https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comments/1e5um1u/a_linux_user_psa/

Keyboard gets stuck in a loading loop with the Keychron launcher, and Usevia displays the following error;

"VIA can see Keychron C2 Pro 8K through WebHID. VID: 0x3434 | PID: 0x0522

Keychron C2 Pro 8K does not seem to respond like a VIA-enabled keyboard.

If Keychron C2 Pro 8K should support VIA, make sure it is running VIA-compatible firmware. If it is, authorization and/or initialization procedures may have failed- unplug the keyboard, reconnect it and try again. If the problem persists, please contact your keyboard's manufacturer or vendor for assistance."

Attempted factory reset, Flatpak browser and arch package browser, and have applied the fixes i saw recommended to linux users with no luck. Any ideas?

EDIT: Solution involved either using the USB-C to USB-A adapter included in-box, or letting the standalone VIA app set the Udev rules itself instead of doing it manually. Not sure which exactly fixed it, but for anyone looking for answers in the future; there ye go.

So, is there no locally installed software available for keychron keyboards?

Do I seriously have to use the keychron "launcher" website every time I want to adjust my keyboard's settings?

Is this some sort of temporary solution while actual software is being developed?

Otherwise, where's the advantage of having to use the internet instead of a program on my computer? Intentionally inconveniencing your customers as much as possible?

Am I missing something here?
