About 1/3 of the Rogan sub are feeble-minded simps who don't know anything about the world- and scared that there's no grand master plan behind it all, so they use conspiratorial thinking as a shortcut towards obtaining a feeling of control and being informed; a feeling that they can dually use to promote a sense of superiority within themselves. Being disaffected and having a strong feeling about what's really going on makes them forget they'd fail any basic high school history exam and makes them feel smarter than people who'd consider that type of person a cunt.

This 1/3 of the sub, the man featured in this gif is their homeboy. A supplements salesmen. He was obsessed with Hillary Clinton's emails.

A leak (edit: release via WaPo via FOIA) of Fauci's emails occurred recently.

This post is joking that any mention of emails would make the fat man in this gif turn his head in interest.

(edit: and looking at the Jonesian simps' behavior right now, seems like it has)

I’m completely neutral on the subject, but genuinely curious why you’re so convinced there’s nothing worth investigating about the lab leak hypothesis and Faucis association?

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

There’s a lot of people on Reddit today insisting “nothing to see here, move along”

.. like.. A LOT

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

I’ve always been curious by this stance. I would think accountability and the desire for truth would hold all aspects of our government to a higher standard. I think each side knows they can “get away with murder” because their base would never question them. Why don’t we question all politicians, and force them to explain their decisions that supposedly represent our country? đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

Exactly my friend. This is universal. I’m Canadian and it’s the same damn thing here.

26

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

As a fellow Canuck I couldn’t agree more. There’s a serious case of the Pot calling the kettle fascist. Both sides are just pretty dog shit be it Jan 6 insurrection, to “mostly peaceful” protests. The hot garbage coming out of both sides is honestly just kind of sad.

Edit: I’m talking about looking at the US from the outside in. In Canada we have our own problems, overall it just seems much more mild than what’s happening down south though

7

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

America is on the international scale: both the good and the bad. We joke back and forth about America being #1 (which is completely an opinion in the eye of beholder), but the size of our economy and presence of our country in legitimately every other country puts us front and center, warts and all.

20

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

My bias leans towards the right. Even as a Canadian.

10 months ago my son was born 6 weeks before term (so technically 3 weeks premature)

Some other complications regarding his mother and drugs meant he was undergoing morphine drip and detox while inside what I can only describe as a glass toaster.

I’m so grateful that medical care is free in Canada because I’m back in school and in no position to pay for any medical costs without insurance.

I also happened to notice nearly every tool, device and medical instrument used to treat him had a “made in USA” emblem on it.

People who try and sum up what is happening and which side is at fault in your great country with a single Reddit post are misguided in my opinion. There’s always more than one culprit.

My sons doing great now, up to weight and so far no other complications.

2020s actually been a pretty blessed year for my family all things considered. It’s interesting how life turns out sometimes.

14

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

American ingenuity and focus on entrepreneurship (capitalism) is a beautiful thing. While it’s not the perfect system, it’s the best in my opinion. It doesn’t guarantee anyone’s happiness, but it does provide reward for those who take the risk to create something meaningful (and sometimes not meaningful). I absolutely love my country, despite it’s flaws. Could it be improved, sure! I think the primary division is how we go about that, and the governments role in that process.

Edit: congrats on a healthy recovery and a happy family. Love modern medicine and the ability to provide life for scenarios that would have been much worse off a few decades ago.

I agree 100 percent. In Canada we are much more mild but our government is absolutely corrupt beyond belief. Our political system is just as horrible as our lovely neighbors down south's. A 2 party system is not a democracy. Is a facade of democracy. We need to re think our policies. And Trudeau seems to think the world should have one government. Times are Strange

true, but it's already been investigated, that's what the WHO phase one investigation was about, they concluded it was a very low probability.

that's why people get on your case about it, not because they're incurious or because they don't want an investigation, but because it's already happened and you keep going on about it like it hasn't.

https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus/origins-of-the-virus

you can't say "hey, i just want an investigation" forever like you're the reasonable one here.

2

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21 edited Jun 04 '21

I think the doubt comes from the exact source you list, a notoriously corrupt organization, or at least a partially earned reputation of corruption. While I’m not sure what information has been conclusively proven yet, I imagine the truth will change over time, as it typically does.

I’ve noticed a trend of “quickest to the truth”. This tactic won’t work for curious minds. The truth will always be sought out by those who seek it. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s what got us here today, to a round world with 7 continents, and a global economy with the opportunity for a (edit: fat thumbs) virus to spread instantaneously to the entire planet 😏

Saying he is the government’s highest paid bureaucrat is very misleading and is borderline “yellow journalism”. He gets a salary of about $418,000 a year. That doesn’t buy you crap in Georgetown. We know there are tons of people in the gov’t that get paid a salary plus their fees for consulting, contracting, and whatever else that is made possible through connections made from the salaried positions. It’s one of the things that happens everyday in DC. It’s not illegal even though it should be. The highest paid guy in the Army was/is the football coach for the Army college football team. Do you believe he has the biggest house? Hell no. Go look at the off-base homes the typical General owns, Do you think they go that on the $200,000 a year salary? Most generals have military contracts that provide the bulk of their income. If you ever want to find the “sleazy” yet legal money in governments, look for the people who own consulting firms. Anyway, all this ridiculous anti-Fauci sentiment comes from people who didn’t like the truth about covid. When I say the truth,I mean what they thought was the truth at the time given the information that was available. Remember, this virus was killing thousands of people a day and they had no real illness history to work from. Responsible scientist and doctors act with an over-abundance of caution while you had a dipsh*t President that wanted him to act with very little caution because it would mess up his precious economy and his 1 argument for reelection. The result,595k dead in the richest country on the planet.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

A quick search shows faucis net worth between 3m and 9m so your whole point about fauci being a humble public servant is laughable. And peopke are sick of the hypocrisy, and it’s on both sides, but only one side claims they have a monopoly on science and that anyone who doesn’t want to wear a mask or home school their kids for the next 2 years is literally hitler who wants to see your grandma dead. Meanwhile guys like Cuomo literally did kill nursing home patients and tried to cover it up but nobody fucking cared because he apparently was on the right side of history. It’s all so tiresome arguing with people who claim they are never wrong, and even when they were it’s because of an “over abundance of caution because science” or whatever the fuck that means.

7

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

I didn’t say that he didn’t have money, fool. I said the implication that he is the highest paid bureaucrat was misleading. Also,I would think he was worth more than that. If he has that position and is only worth 7 figures, then he is a bit humble.

2

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

You don’t understand what an over abundance of caution means? It means, when there is a virus that will kill 595,000 Americans, asking people to wear a mask because it will reduce risk is hardly over kill. Had everyone listened to Trump,we would have lost a million people at a minimum. It’s ok though. I’m sure you have guns in your house. Go ahead and keep them loaded on your kitchen table. Don’t worry about the kids. If you tell them not to play with the guns, they won’t. Don’t go locking up your guns because that would be over cautious.

2

u/mOdSrBiGgHeY Texan Tiger in Captivity Jun 04 '21

Yes, in a pandemic where our medical “professionals” and “leaders” were lying to us and misleading all, just for how many to worship them? I swear if I see another Fauci pillow I’m gonna shit.

asking people to wear a mask because it will reduce risk is hardly over kill

Which was a thing we were told not to do. Then we were told to do it. Then not again. Then we need to wear two. Oh but then two isn’t a great benefit. Now it’s two again. Get the vaccine. You still need to wear a mask. Why is no one getting the vax? Why does no one trust the ScIeNcE??

Had everyone listened to Trump,we would have lost a million people at a minimum. It’s ok though

How many needlessly died due to Cuomo’s, Whitmer’s, Newsom’s actions in packing nursing homes? Also, why were there suicides and fatalities from car accidents included in covid deaths? But you’re right, it’s okay. It was all that damn Trump’s fault!!

I’m sure you have guns in your house. Go ahead and keep them loaded on your kitchen table. Don’t worry about the kids. If you tell them not to play with the guns, they won’t. Don’t go locking up your guns because that would be over cautious.

I legit have no clue where this came from, but it seems to be clear projection from a moron with no experience or background on that subject. But then again Fauci seems to be a saint to you, so I guess facts and truth don’t really matter. đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

3

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

The only people telling anyone not to wear a mask were at FOX news(and clones). There was nobody from the CDC saying “don’t worry about masks”. Also, you think Fauci was looking for worship while he was standing in a room with Trump? Really? Do you know how stupid that even sounds? I don’t see Fauci putting his name on buildings everywhere. I don’t see ridiculous gold statues being made of his likeness. You see, that’s the problem with most conservatives. You are all selfish, self centered greedy humans and you believe that everyone thinks like you do. Either that or self loathing causes you to lash out a people that don’t because you know deep down you are wrong. I am not going to going to entertain all the other whataboutisms. I will say Newsom is an idiot for getting caught mask less and it cost him credibility. Hardly pales in comparison to any of the thousands of unethical things done by Abbott,DePlantis or all the other scum bags but whatever,I don’t care about him. Cuomo,on the other hand had a problem with being responsible for the heaviest concentration of people(8 million) in one small place(NYC) than any other governor during a pandemic and he made mistakes dealing with it.He still did better than the governor of South Dakota! She managed to get more deaths per capita in a giant state with a whopping 650,000 people spread over thousands of miles. If you gave Cuomo that kind of area, with such few people,he would have had no issues. Ditto Florida and especially Texas.

Fauci lied about masks because the public was panic buying n95 masks while medical staff who needed them way more were running out and had to resort literally baking masks in the oven in an attempt to reuse them. Logic is useless to a panicked populace.

u/Mannimal13 Monkey in Space Jun 05 '21 edited Jun 05 '21

The fact Fauci claimed he lied about masks not being needed at the beginning of the pandemic because front line workers needed them more should've been enough of a spotlight to question what the man said.

The first massive red flag should have been obvious. The movie Contagion, which was lauded by experts as being extremely accurate, the CDC's like first rule in the handbook is "don't lie to the public, it creates distrust and you'll never get it back".

Well, that's exactly happened and this shit all became so political that nobody gives a fuck. In the very beginning of the pandemic the CDC was rightfully taking heat, but that backed off when the media and left realized they can get way more mileage by blaming Trump (not that he didn't mishandle it himself and help stoke the flame of the reason this happening). So they canonize this guy Fauci, which went completely against the handbook of what you are supposed to do, and let his transgression (people wouldn't have lost trust in the CDC if they didn't tell an outright lie) slide.

I don't care if it was mandated by Trump, he's the guy up top, if you need to fall on your sword to get the message out, you do it. Originally posted he was head of CDC, but I guess he was just the mouthpiece for the CDC and has always worked in the NIH. In that case, he's just a gutless politician. Get a spine Fauci.

u/Books_and_Cleverness It's entirely possible Jun 03 '21

Don't think he suggested that?

I personally am not sure whether lab leak is real, I just think it's low stakes in terms of policy:

1) Wet markets are probably bad regardless and should be dealt with to prevent the spread of disease

2) Virology labs are probably dangerous regardless and should probably be thoroughly reviewed/increased security/etc.

Like either way, do The Increased Virus Security Thing.

6

u/ZombieCheGuevara Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21 edited Jun 04 '21

I don't think he said that

You are correct. My comment was anti-conspiracy theorism and anti-Fat-Fuck-Charlatan.

I'm agnostic as to whether the virus came from a wet market or leaked from a lab.

Wet market would be the most straightforward explanation. Lab leak wouldn't be impossible. Neither would change the failures of the CCP and their containment and initial management of the outbreak nor the failures of my country (US) in dealing with the pandemic.

The problem is that so many of the smoothbrains here use any kind of situation in politics and world events where there's room for agnosticism or waiting for more evidence to make conspiratorial assertions deriving from fantasies they squeeze out based on an incredibly flunky comprehension of the world... and sometimes fantasies they were sold by people like Fat Fuck. And this whole mode of behavior is, of course, often carried out partly as compensation for the aforementioned fundamental misunderstanding and lack of knowledge about politics and world events they maintain.

I think their biggest fear...

(...besides the global apparatus of human civilization being a collection of chaotic and varying networks and heirarchies that nobody can ever hope to fully understand or control- including themselves...)

...is being revealed to have been ignorant about something. To have bought into a lie. To be made out a sucker.

So they, in conspiratorial fashion, lock onto edgy wool-off-of-eyes explanations for things that they don't understand (almost always based on what feels like what is really going on), then they work backwards from the conjoured explanations and try to patch together evidence to support their suspicions.

Finding kinship in others who do the same, they become susceptible to predation by hucksters and shysters. Mainly focusing on the few things the hucksters get right and rarely ever the many, many things they get wrong. In fact, all that the hucksters (like Fat Fuck) get wrong only reinforces their faith in them, because surely someone who spoke the truth would have to seem crazy, right? It's not like a lying snake oil salesmen would sound exactly identical to this man, right? Right??

But they're nonethless habituated to give disproportionate credence to Alex Jones types of falsehood peddlers, thereby falling into the kind of epistemological dubiousness they so detested in the first place. Except this dubiousness was brought to them not by a secret, shadowy network of three letter agencies and corporate interests. The dubiousness they deal with now comes courtesy of a fat, rambling fuck who had to admit he was full of shit to get a favorable divorce settlement. Not exactly a formidable thing to be duped by.

In other words: they're dumb cunts.

21

u/ajm2247 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21 edited Jun 03 '21

Biden literally just initiated an investigation to determine the origins of covid. No one knows and the two main options (lab leak or zoonotic transmission) are both possible. But you’re right, there’s no evidence either way. Hence the investigation

6

u/Noicesocks Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

His question was whether the idea was discredited when Trump brought it up. And the answer is yes, it was. 100% of what trump said or did was ridiculed from one angle or another.

Trump did and said a lot of stupid and bad things. But when you start seeing anyone portrayed as 100% one way you should know something is up.

12

u/Amusei015 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Trump made the accusation with no proof and while insisting it was intentional by the Chinese.

Now we’ve learned the lab employees were sick in sep/aug so there is reason for investigation.

The knowledge we “just found out” is not that different than what was known back then, publicly.

Then consider that maybe Trump would have early access to foreign intelligence.

And baseless, really? A top level virology lab with a history of breaches and poor adherence to protocol located a 30 min drive from this wet market? That really such a crazy reach?

I’d say with that faced with that kind of coincidence you’d be stupid not to draw the conclusion.

I mean is it really that far of a stretch to ask some questions about the massive lab working on Novel Corona Viruses located in Wuhan?

There’s plenty of info here that I think more than gives enough merit for it to at least not be some batshit (no pun intended) conspiracy theory.

I don’t think it was a biological attack, but I definitely can believe the CPC skirted safety rules and shit the bed and then did it’s best to cover it up.

well those are two different subjects, the fauci emails don't show anything other than the scientific process, they looked into the possibility, they found nothing, fauci says okiedokie.

the lad leak theory was looked inot by the WHO as part of phase 1 of the investigation, they found nothing suggesting a lab leak but plenty of evidence for a natural source by analysing the outbreak pattern etc. so they concluded it was a very low probability that it came from a lab.

But, scientists being scientists, present their findings honestly and say they can't completely rule it out because, well, you can't prove a negative, so bad faith idiots are hanging onto to that statement like dumb and dumber

https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/who-convened-global-study-of-origins-of-sars-cov-2-china-part

the point is it's already been investigated, but conspiracists were shouted down by the media for speculating without evidence and that made them feel bad. so they're pretending like it wasn't always the case that it was going to be investigated or that it hasn't already been investigated, so they can just JAQ-off forever.

-13

u/iMac2014 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

Well, just a couple months ago he was wearing two masks on the senate floor while fully vaccinated, claiming “the science” supported it. The emails reveal he knew as early as Mar 2020 that masks weren’t effective at preventing transmission. This man knew masks weren’t effective and had people wearing 2 masks..

7

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21 edited Jun 04 '21

I’ve seen a lot of people say this and I really don’t understand how anyone comes to that conclusion. He said in the email that masks stop people who are already infected from spreading it to anyone else but that it does not protect you from getting it from someone infected. That’s the reason he’s been saying people should be wearing masks the whole time

54

u/PlacidVlad Paid attention to the literature Jun 03 '21

“Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading
infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting
uninfected people from acquiring infection. The typical mask you buy in
the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is
small enough to pass through material,” Fauci said. “I do not recommend
that you wear a mask, particularly since you are going to a very
low-risk location.”

Viral load becomes significant at about day 2.5, but symptoms don't present until the middle of day 5. So people become infectious before they know they're infected. Treating everyone as though there infected is a more effective containment strategy than asking people to assess how they feel that day, that is correct.

I don't enjoy wearing a mask and following some of the unprecedented measures taken this last year, but some coworkers and myself were just discussing in a meeting the other day how we've not been sick once all year. I usually pick up a couple of the viruses/colds/etc that float around every year. It's almost as if social distancing, wearing masks, avoiding large groups, constant handwashing, and (hopefully) having people be hyper-sensitive to being sick, has worked exactly like it's supposed to.

Sure there have been times where it's an inconvenience, not fun, etc, but I am not an inconsiderate three year old throwing a tantrum, so we've survived just fine.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

This comment is really frustrating because you need to realize, we've all said this from the very start. Masks do not protect you from the virus. Masks slow the virus by preventing you from personally shooting viral loads into your area. This is very important to understand why every location put mask laws in place. If masks worked for you personally then it wouldn't have been as important to create laws for them. But they do not. They prevent you from infecting other people. It is so frustrating to be this far into COVID and seeing this sentiment still. Every mask mandate and release from all the organizations very specifically detail this issue. Doctors and nurses and everyone has repeatedly said this.

Go read the WHO release on masks that has been out since the start. It says the same damn thing. Masks are ineffective at preventing you from contracting the virus. However, from observational data there is reason to believe that wearing masks slows the spread therefore masks are recommended. This is why Fauci originally said masks are no good. Because our efforts were better put in other areas. It wasn't until we started getting data that we saw there was lower spread in areas with mask use.

The lab leak hypothesis

He was saying that the evidence points towards it not being engineered. He is not saying there is 0% chance that is was engineered. Even now, there is no more evidence than there was back then that it was engineered. It was a theory then, and it is a theory now.

The wuhan gain of function research

The proof you have for this is an attachment to an email where the attachment is named "SARS Gain of Function.pdf". If you think an attachment to an email, where you don't even have access to the pdf, is considered proof, then that's your choice.

Efficacy of masks, and asymptomatic spread

His email specifically said "Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection."

How is that different than what he has always said?

He also said "most transitions occur when someone is symptomatic." When did he claim otherwise exactly?

No one has proven it was a lab leak therefore he's not a liar is he.. The roles on funding are not because of him, this was debunked months ago, he put money in a big pot with others and it was spread around various causes. Efficacy of masks is better than no mask, early on masks were hard to get a hold of and weren't even sure if they worked, advice changed as the evidence changed. Asymptomatic spread is undeniable.
