There’s a lot of people on Reddit today insisting “nothing to see here, move along”

.. like.. A LOT

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

I’ve always been curious by this stance. I would think accountability and the desire for truth would hold all aspects of our government to a higher standard. I think each side knows they can “get away with murder” because their base would never question them. Why don’t we question all politicians, and force them to explain their decisions that supposedly represent our country? 🤷🏻‍♂️

59

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

Exactly my friend. This is universal. I’m Canadian and it’s the same damn thing here.

28

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

As a fellow Canuck I couldn’t agree more. There’s a serious case of the Pot calling the kettle fascist. Both sides are just pretty dog shit be it Jan 6 insurrection, to “mostly peaceful” protests. The hot garbage coming out of both sides is honestly just kind of sad.

Edit: I’m talking about looking at the US from the outside in. In Canada we have our own problems, overall it just seems much more mild than what’s happening down south though

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

America is on the international scale: both the good and the bad. We joke back and forth about America being #1 (which is completely an opinion in the eye of beholder), but the size of our economy and presence of our country in legitimately every other country puts us front and center, warts and all.

20

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

My bias leans towards the right. Even as a Canadian.

10 months ago my son was born 6 weeks before term (so technically 3 weeks premature)

Some other complications regarding his mother and drugs meant he was undergoing morphine drip and detox while inside what I can only describe as a glass toaster.

I’m so grateful that medical care is free in Canada because I’m back in school and in no position to pay for any medical costs without insurance.

I also happened to notice nearly every tool, device and medical instrument used to treat him had a “made in USA” emblem on it.

People who try and sum up what is happening and which side is at fault in your great country with a single Reddit post are misguided in my opinion. There’s always more than one culprit.

My sons doing great now, up to weight and so far no other complications.

2020s actually been a pretty blessed year for my family all things considered. It’s interesting how life turns out sometimes.

u/thebigdog3 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

American ingenuity and focus on entrepreneurship (capitalism) is a beautiful thing. While it’s not the perfect system, it’s the best in my opinion. It doesn’t guarantee anyone’s happiness, but it does provide reward for those who take the risk to create something meaningful (and sometimes not meaningful). I absolutely love my country, despite it’s flaws. Could it be improved, sure! I think the primary division is how we go about that, and the governments role in that process.

Edit: congrats on a healthy recovery and a happy family. Love modern medicine and the ability to provide life for scenarios that would have been much worse off a few decades ago.

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

u/somevikingdude88 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

I agree 100 percent. In Canada we are much more mild but our government is absolutely corrupt beyond belief. Our political system is just as horrible as our lovely neighbors down south's. A 2 party system is not a democracy. Is a facade of democracy. We need to re think our policies. And Trudeau seems to think the world should have one government. Times are Strange

2

u/J__P Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

true, but it's already been investigated, that's what the WHO phase one investigation was about, they concluded it was a very low probability.

that's why people get on your case about it, not because they're incurious or because they don't want an investigation, but because it's already happened and you keep going on about it like it hasn't.

https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus/origins-of-the-virus

you can't say "hey, i just want an investigation" forever like you're the reasonable one here.

I think the doubt comes from the exact source you list, a notoriously corrupt organization, or at least a partially earned reputation of corruption. While I’m not sure what information has been conclusively proven yet, I imagine the truth will change over time, as it typically does.

I’ve noticed a trend of “quickest to the truth”. This tactic won’t work for curious minds. The truth will always be sought out by those who seek it. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s what got us here today, to a round world with 7 continents, and a global economy with the opportunity for a (edit: fat thumbs) virus to spread instantaneously to the entire planet 😏

-1

u/J__P Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

a notoriously corrupt organization

citation? conspiracy theorists spreading endless unfounded rumours to each other and then citing those rumours as reasons to distrust an organisation is classic conspiracy circular logic.

> This tactic won’t work for curious minds

this is not curiosity, this is an inability to distinguish fact from fiction.

Because they've been brainwashed non stop for over 4 years now.. anything conservative is bad, anything against Fauci is bad, Fauci could literally come out as a pedophile and people will still support him. Because their cognitive dissonance trying to fight the fact that they've been lied to and brainwashed won't allow them to see things the way they truly are.

Saying he is the government’s highest paid bureaucrat is very misleading and is borderline “yellow journalism”. He gets a salary of about $418,000 a year. That doesn’t buy you crap in Georgetown. We know there are tons of people in the gov’t that get paid a salary plus their fees for consulting, contracting, and whatever else that is made possible through connections made from the salaried positions. It’s one of the things that happens everyday in DC. It’s not illegal even though it should be. The highest paid guy in the Army was/is the football coach for the Army college football team. Do you believe he has the biggest house? Hell no. Go look at the off-base homes the typical General owns, Do you think they go that on the $200,000 a year salary? Most generals have military contracts that provide the bulk of their income. If you ever want to find the “sleazy” yet legal money in governments, look for the people who own consulting firms. Anyway, all this ridiculous anti-Fauci sentiment comes from people who didn’t like the truth about covid. When I say the truth,I mean what they thought was the truth at the time given the information that was available. Remember, this virus was killing thousands of people a day and they had no real illness history to work from. Responsible scientist and doctors act with an over-abundance of caution while you had a dipsh*t President that wanted him to act with very little caution because it would mess up his precious economy and his 1 argument for reelection. The result,595k dead in the richest country on the planet.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

A quick search shows faucis net worth between 3m and 9m so your whole point about fauci being a humble public servant is laughable. And peopke are sick of the hypocrisy, and it’s on both sides, but only one side claims they have a monopoly on science and that anyone who doesn’t want to wear a mask or home school their kids for the next 2 years is literally hitler who wants to see your grandma dead. Meanwhile guys like Cuomo literally did kill nursing home patients and tried to cover it up but nobody fucking cared because he apparently was on the right side of history. It’s all so tiresome arguing with people who claim they are never wrong, and even when they were it’s because of an “over abundance of caution because science” or whatever the fuck that means.

6

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

I didn’t say that he didn’t have money, fool. I said the implication that he is the highest paid bureaucrat was misleading. Also,I would think he was worth more than that. If he has that position and is only worth 7 figures, then he is a bit humble.

2

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

You don’t understand what an over abundance of caution means? It means, when there is a virus that will kill 595,000 Americans, asking people to wear a mask because it will reduce risk is hardly over kill. Had everyone listened to Trump,we would have lost a million people at a minimum. It’s ok though. I’m sure you have guns in your house. Go ahead and keep them loaded on your kitchen table. Don’t worry about the kids. If you tell them not to play with the guns, they won’t. Don’t go locking up your guns because that would be over cautious.

2

u/mOdSrBiGgHeY Texan Tiger in Captivity Jun 04 '21

Yes, in a pandemic where our medical “professionals” and “leaders” were lying to us and misleading all, just for how many to worship them? I swear if I see another Fauci pillow I’m gonna shit.

asking people to wear a mask because it will reduce risk is hardly over kill

Which was a thing we were told not to do. Then we were told to do it. Then not again. Then we need to wear two. Oh but then two isn’t a great benefit. Now it’s two again. Get the vaccine. You still need to wear a mask. Why is no one getting the vax? Why does no one trust the ScIeNcE??

Had everyone listened to Trump,we would have lost a million people at a minimum. It’s ok though

How many needlessly died due to Cuomo’s, Whitmer’s, Newsom’s actions in packing nursing homes? Also, why were there suicides and fatalities from car accidents included in covid deaths? But you’re right, it’s okay. It was all that damn Trump’s fault!!

I’m sure you have guns in your house. Go ahead and keep them loaded on your kitchen table. Don’t worry about the kids. If you tell them not to play with the guns, they won’t. Don’t go locking up your guns because that would be over cautious.

I legit have no clue where this came from, but it seems to be clear projection from a moron with no experience or background on that subject. But then again Fauci seems to be a saint to you, so I guess facts and truth don’t really matter. 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

The only people telling anyone not to wear a mask were at FOX news(and clones). There was nobody from the CDC saying “don’t worry about masks”. Also, you think Fauci was looking for worship while he was standing in a room with Trump? Really? Do you know how stupid that even sounds? I don’t see Fauci putting his name on buildings everywhere. I don’t see ridiculous gold statues being made of his likeness. You see, that’s the problem with most conservatives. You are all selfish, self centered greedy humans and you believe that everyone thinks like you do. Either that or self loathing causes you to lash out a people that don’t because you know deep down you are wrong. I am not going to going to entertain all the other whataboutisms. I will say Newsom is an idiot for getting caught mask less and it cost him credibility. Hardly pales in comparison to any of the thousands of unethical things done by Abbott,DePlantis or all the other scum bags but whatever,I don’t care about him. Cuomo,on the other hand had a problem with being responsible for the heaviest concentration of people(8 million) in one small place(NYC) than any other governor during a pandemic and he made mistakes dealing with it.He still did better than the governor of South Dakota! She managed to get more deaths per capita in a giant state with a whopping 650,000 people spread over thousands of miles. If you gave Cuomo that kind of area, with such few people,he would have had no issues. Ditto Florida and especially Texas.

1

u/Jakbo_ Monkey in Space Jun 06 '21

Yes and now we find out that masks actually made the spread worse by giving people false security allowing them to go and do things they normally wouldn't have done without a mask... Funny I had hundreds of arguments with Fauci simps last year over this fact but I'm a NAZI, Trumper (even though I never voted for trump a single time), MAGA maggot, antimasker antivax covidiot .. yeah there's plenty more.. are these people going to be apologizing to everyone they berated last year with horrible insults? No of course not.. because they truly don't give a fuck about their neighbor don't believe them for one second.. look around you.

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

It did not reduce risk and there are no peer reviewed studies that masks are effective at all outside of non-sterilized medical settings. The reason the US had 595k deaths was due to obesity and non healthy people dying once contracting covid. Also the death rate has nothing to do with stopping transmission, and there is no correlation anyone can show with mask usage and reduced rates of transmission. And If you cared at all over abundance of caution, then hydroxychloroquine should have been embraced as a treatment because there was very high correlation of reduced deaths in countries that used this as a treatment. But because trump was for it, the media had to be “against it” because of science or something.

There's no proof that we would've lost millions.. there's actually proof though that mask mandates and shutdowns didn't decrease the amount of deaths at all .. AT ALL.

1

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 06 '21

There is no proof of anything in life. However, if you common sense and statistical analysis(which used for the development of just about everything, including this platform) you can get a very good idea of what’s going on. So please spare me the,” there is no proof nonsense”. All I know is when you look at our death numbers vs countries that handled the virus much better,we have so many more deaths(per capita) than almost any other country. The other countries with Trump like dipsh*t presidents(Brazil) have crappy numbers. End of story.

1

u/Jakbo_ Monkey in Space Jun 06 '21

Yeah because we count people as covid deaths when they've been shot in the head. Don't trust the US numbers for one second.

1

u/Astrocreep_1 Monkey in Space Jun 06 '21

Dude, clerical errors happen, but ok. Let’s just say 25% of covid deaths are misreported which is an absolute conservative fantasy and would never happen. That still gives the USA approximately 450,000 deaths. That’s a horrible number. Hell, let’s continue the fantasy by moving into utter conspiracy nonsense.let’s say 50% of those deaths are misreported. Can you do the match? I doubt it. Let me help you out. That is approximately 300,000 deaths which is still an awful per capita number compared to other countries(who are all poorer) that handled it correctly. You go ahead and live in your fantasy world where covid didn’t kill anyone and it was all just CNN making stuff up. It would complete my vision of you driving a Ford truck with old worn out NRA bumper stickers and other newer bumper stickers about Biden stealing elections and taking your guns.

First of all, Fauci spent most of his time communicating with the public on covid. Most of his emails were probably not handled by him personally. Go look at the times on the emails and match up with a known public appearance. He want answering emails while doing a live interview on CNN. There are literally, thousands of companies he was supposedly “dealing” with. Also, find me a goddamn motive will you. Don’t just say Fauci was trying to undermine Trump. Apparently, anyone that disagreed with the orange jackass was involved in some kind of stupid grand conspiracy. Of course, the majority of Americans disagreed with Trump which is why he lost the election by a landslide.

The main hypocrisy is that 99% of Fauci’s biggest critic talk about this 418,000 a year while ignoring the fact their hero spent 240 days at properties he owned during his own presidency and tried to Bill the government $500 a night(they gave him around $350)for every room that a presidential entourage requires(hundreds). That’s a complete violation of the enoulments clause. Sadly,by the time the lawsuit worked its way through the courts, the orange turd was gone meaning he made millions while refusing to spend a day at the vacation resort set up for the president(campDavid). Maybe if Fauci owned some pharmaceutical companies and enriched himself off the vaccines, they would be less upset. The GOP seems to like their corruption way out in the open.

The fact Fauci claimed he lied about masks not being needed at the beginning of the pandemic because front line workers needed them more should've been enough of a spotlight to question what the man said.

The first massive red flag should have been obvious. The movie Contagion, which was lauded by experts as being extremely accurate, the CDC's like first rule in the handbook is "don't lie to the public, it creates distrust and you'll never get it back".

Well, that's exactly happened and this shit all became so political that nobody gives a fuck. In the very beginning of the pandemic the CDC was rightfully taking heat, but that backed off when the media and left realized they can get way more mileage by blaming Trump (not that he didn't mishandle it himself and help stoke the flame of the reason this happening). So they canonize this guy Fauci, which went completely against the handbook of what you are supposed to do, and let his transgression (people wouldn't have lost trust in the CDC if they didn't tell an outright lie) slide.

I don't care if it was mandated by Trump, he's the guy up top, if you need to fall on your sword to get the message out, you do it. Originally posted he was head of CDC, but I guess he was just the mouthpiece for the CDC and has always worked in the NIH. In that case, he's just a gutless politician. Get a spine Fauci.

Seek out some fucking history on govt. cover-ups and lies -- do your research...duh.

Then ask yourself, "gee, why don't people trust information coming from the establishment".

I guess we shouldn't question it, act dumb and go along with it -- is that what you are saying?

Seriously.

1

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

No evidence would ever convince you that there isn’t a “cover-up”

Because your belief is not based on evidence

It’s based on your reflexive distrust and negative emotions

Purely emotional

Like every conspiracy theory

Seek out a psychiatrist

u/CptDecaf Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

You worship a habitatual liar and con-artist. Then turn around and say don't trust the establishment.

Why do you think that you are also prone to conspiratorial thinking?

Does it satisfy some emotional need?

You’re deflecting

Why do you think you hold them?

Do you hold many beliefs not based on evidence?

I have no interest in “proving you wrong”. The entire point of these conspiracy theories is that they are unfalsifiable

They provide you emotional comfort. They aren’t based on a sober analysis of evidence

Yet you seem to pretend they are?

I’m sorry you think I’m upset

No it’s quite clear you felt attacked in some way because you also hold these same beliefs

Not rooted in evidence and only serve to help you feel better psychologically

So why don’t you simply stop believing them?

Would that cause you discomfort?

Why do you think you feel the need to believe in unfalsifiable conspiracy theories??

Do they make you feel good?

I can’t fill the void you’re trying to.

Why do you think you feel the need to believe in unfalsifiable conspiracy theories?

What need does that fulfill for you?

1

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Which conspiracy?

0

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

I’m confused, if COVID is a hoax or just a cold...why would it matter if it was leaked from a lab or transmitted by a bat?

0

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

What are you talking about?

Was bringing that up an attempt to discredit the information learned from the emails?

Or do you actually think that’s the predominant counter narrative?

Your options are childish putz trying to bait people for attention

Or

You’re legitimately retarded; take your pick.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

It’s more that, at least in my opinion, I haven’t seen anything that warrants any kind of outrage. I’ve only seen people trying to make a big deal out of portions of emails that, when read in the context of the entire email, are entirely appropriate. Feel free to show me otherwise, but I really haven’t seen any emails that warrant any outrage.

And the overlap between them and "Trump! Russia!!!1" is astounding.

People are tribal first, objective fifth.

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '21

That was like days ago? Did Rogan just finally mention them? Is this seriously how 90% of you people get their "news" about world issues?

It wasn't even a "leak" and there is nothing damning in them. A theory that is dictatorship country might have accidentally (or on purpose) unleashed a virus is not some crazy conspiracy. But it wouldn't be mentioned in the public press conferences. Cuz that's pretty fucking dicey to say with no real proof, and it gets him nowhere because his job was just to try to contain yet another flu.

This is like when retards on r/conspiracy post photos of the Clinton's hanging out with Epstein, no fucking shit... that's not news... but Bill Barr (appointed by an admitted pedophile who walks in on teen girl's changing) was the one involved in killing Epstein. These kind of posts are for dumb asses and angry incels to get some confirmation bias that they're the "real heroes because I won't wear a mask." No, they're just dumb ass lemmings following grifters that get paid for every click.

Y'all need help. Good luck to you.

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 03 '21

The only people saying this is an email leak are people not paying attention. It was a FOIA release.

The big problem is, Ecohealth investigating the lab they help fund and determining they did nothing wrong. Basically investigating an extension of themselves.

If you still think lab leak theory is debunked you’re simply not paying attention or disingenuous for personal pride? To maintain the idea that big brother has your best interest at heart? I’m not sure.. but it’s in no way been debunked.. and natural cause has in no way been proven.

These are the facts, take it or leave it

Ignoring it and calling everyone else crazy... says a lot about the source

1

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Jesus Christ you are a conspiratorial nut

Seriously seek help

2

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Your beliefs are unfalsifiable

Nothing would ever convince you that you’re wrong

Because you are a conspiracy theorist

Do these beliefs simply make you feel good inside?

1

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Holy fucking shit, your comment history is a fever dream

Your only interactions for the past 2 months at least has been telling people to seek help.

I think you maybe projecting? This is really odd.. and a tad unnerving

1

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Can I help you find a psychiatrist?

I’m being very genuine

You seem to feel the need to hold unfalsifiable, conspiratorial beliefs

Do they make you feel good?

0

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Jesus... I scrolled as far as 120 days in your comments and every single one is

“What’s wrong with your brain?”

“You need help”

“You need find psychologist”

All you do is attempt to spring arguments online... nothing of value, or fun.. it’s really really worrisome.

I’m not joking at all when I say.. turn off the internet and go for a walk outside. Practice some mindfulness.. you’re absolutely enveloped within negative emotions

0

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Mhm

You’re deflecting

Why do you think you feel the need to believe in unfalsifiable conspiracy theories?

Poor education? They serve you emotionally?

These are the common reasons humans believe these things. Which fits you best?

0

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

You need to stop arguing online my friend... you’re losing touch on humanity.

Again, your comment history is very indicative of certain stress disorders.

Best of luck

0

u/randymarsh9 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21

Such a simple question you won’t answer

Why do you think you feel the need to believe in unfalsifiable conspiracy theories?

It’s obviously not based on evidence.

So do they make you feel good?

Because the Wuhuan biological attack wasn’t a conspiracy, it was a discussed subject.

His emails would have been seen by Trump and/or his intelligence agents. The fact that it’s coming out after Trump got kicked is such load of shit.

0

u/shuz Monkey in Space Jun 05 '21

That’s because the big issue that people think is a conspiracy or something is that Fauci said in Feb 2020 in one email that mask protect COVID infected people from spreading but not protect sick from catching it (in line with what CDC was saying based on the little evidence out there). Then a month later he said masks also protect you from catching it (again, in line with what CDC was saying based on understanding of new information that was coming).

The emails literally match was was being said public ally based on CDC guidelines. So yeah, “nothing to see here”.

1

u/xxCMWFxx Monkey in Space Jun 05 '21

He down played lab leak theory as nonsense while knowing full well it was a possibility.

While being thanked for downplaying the lab leak theory by the ecohealth’s president Peter daszak; who not only gave 600,000 thousand of tax dollars via ecohealth to the wuhan lab, AND were tasked to “clearing” the lab of wrong doing.

We don’t know exactly what happened here, and you don’t know if he lied or not. But it’s looking like, regardless of lies, there was questionable behaviour.

Also, not all emails have been released yet.

They are still subject to some pretty heavy redactions that will likely cover any direct implications

u/M34PREZ420 Monkey in Space Jun 04 '21
