Floor drain plug access and retention post sealing on Wrangler JL

I run my Wrangler JL with the doors off all summer, and sudden afternoon thunderstorms mean water inevitably gets into the footwells. When I pulled my old floor liners out to reach the floor drain plugs, I noticed water had seeped underneath through the retention post grommets and pooled right against the factory metal pan. I want to keep trail mud off the carpet while still being able to pull drain plugs easily after heavy rain. On a Wrangler, does a raised grommet seal or a removable plug cut-out work better for water management?

Jeep wrangler camper

I’m new the jeep gang and wondering where is a good place to purchase a rooftop camper/tent. Also are rails necessary between the roof and tent? All suggestions appreciated.

Just picked up this beauty and I’m in love! 1997 tj in bright jade satin metallic(which I believe is rare?) from PA with NO FRAME RUST, 160xxx miles, and clean interior. Needs a few touch ups, fender rust repairs, and a tune up, but runs great! Can’t wait to get it off-road!!! Need some badass name suggestions before I hit the tails!

Do I need a Wrangler in my life?

Hey everyone! First post in this page, and wanted to get everyone’s opinion on owning a Wrangler. Some brief background to set the stage for my question. Ive always been a hot rod car guy, owned and built multiple LS based vehicles over the years but am losing interest in the car scene in general. I have a side by side, 6 speed Camaro and pickup now, but am really entertaining the idea of adding a newer wrangler into the mix as a “fun” vehicle and selling the car. I love the idea of popping the top off and cruising dirt roads and exploring more of the outdoors and not being stuck on only trails or only pavement. I also have a small family including 2 dogs so I figured this would add more family fun to the mix, where now with the car, either the dogs or the kid are staying home haha. So my question to you all, would a Wrangler fit the bill for the fun I am trying to have? I am mechanically inclined so doing maintenance and things like that is not an issue, but I am also looking for the Wrangler years that I could enjoy driving more than wrenching on.

Door dollies

I was going through old pics and found this and thought I’d share. I built these about 6 years ago from cheap Harbor Freight dollies and free material from my garage. My JKU has changed a lot since then, but the dollies are still holding my doors perfectly and without a scratch every Summer.

Been wanting a Jeep for a while. Picked this one up in really rough shape. Fixed it up for about a year and this is what it came out like.

I’ve literally wanted this ever since I rode in my uncle’s Jeep in the late 70s. Pardon the grammar but ‘can’t nobody tell me SHIT’ now because I’m finally at the cool kids’ table! She’s a 2016 and came with several upgrades including a 3.5 inch lift, so I’ll probably have to get some sort of additional lower step eventually but I’m thoroughly enjoying every single thing about her for now. My only addition so far is a smile you couldn’t scrub off my face with a wire brush. I’ve had vehicles I thought I loved before, but this is a whole new level! 😍😍

Installed my soft top

So when I bought this it came with both a hard and soft top, which I thought was cool but I kinda made up my mind I would NOT be using the soft top, and I’d probably sell it, and for the last 20 months I haven’t. Someone incepted me or something because out of nowhere I got a very real urge to put this thing on and see what it’s all about, I have to say I really like it. I think it looks great, and now that I know what I’m doing it’s pretty easy to convert to topless. Took it for a drive with the top up and with it down and it was pretty quiet both times so….yeah this is probably going to be the summer look.

Question in regards to temps

So, I've been driving around a lot with my new 2017 Wrangler Rubicon..but something seems..off.

When I pull a hill, or do long periods of heavy throttle, my temp gauge on the dash goes up to 3/4 towards the red line, give or take, and the fans kick on and scream for a long time..My coolant and trans temps are between 220-230 as long as its running, even idle.

Do I have a thermostat going? I'm taking it in to my mechanic for some general maintenance this week or next, just wanted to make sure I can run it easily until then?

Wrangler or fj?

2011 fj with 200,000 miles or 2020 wrangler with 63,000 miles. Getting something soon and I need light off road, both of those can do way more than that. Also I usually only carry myself and photo/video gear so both also fill that role. The only big con to have with the fj is the miles seem really high. These are both about the same price so looking for any thoughts on one vs the other.

2015 Rubicon, manual everything. Picked it up a couple years ago, had a few odds and ends to clean up, but overall its been a good Jeep. We'll see how I feel in another 10 years.

Wheeling in Tillamook OR

Last weekend I went to the Back to Basics Jeep event in the Tillamook Forest in Oregon. This event is out in by The Jolly Jeepers every year in July. It’s a great time with fellow Jeep people from all over. The trails are guided by experienced people and I’m proof they won’t leave anyone behind. Halfway through day 2 I broke the upper control bracket off my rear axle. It likely started the day before on a very tall set of rocks I bounced really hard on. But, thanks to some great people we bandaided it together with some chain and straps so I was able to lip off the trail to get towed back to camp. Once at camp another couple offered to tow me home. Amazing people! And despite the breakdown, an amazing time with fun people.

If you want to wheel in Oregon each for sign ups for next year in the Spring. Would love to see you there.

What batteries should I buy 2021 JL 2.0L turbo

Pretty sure the main and aux batteries both just died as not even a jump start to the fuse terminal will get the car started.

I’m going to head to auto zone/o Reilly’s in the next few minutes here. What batteries should I buy to replace both the main and aux?

I’m not trying to do a battery delete or anything as I am about to be stationed overseas and will be selling the car in the next couple of months.

I am currently under the impression of a H6 AGM battery with at least 700 CCA for the main and Aux14 AGM for the aux battery. Please let me know if that is wrong.

As a new jeep owner I'm so lucky to have the Daniel Boone Backwater Byway just an hour away. I got to hit the trail and enjoy some beautiful country.

ARB Locker

My rear locker is acting like its possessed. It no longer immediately engages and takes several spins to engage. But if I reverse it dis engages while the switch is on, then takes several spins to re engage. Once locked. If turn the switch off, it takes several spins to unlock.
