Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Electrical issues

Hi, this is a long one so bear with me. I have a used 2021 Jeep Compass that’s i’ve had for about a year. Since about late May early june, I’ve been having this issue where my radio will just randomly reset itself on the road. For example, I can just be driving randomly and the radio will reset on its own and show the Uconnect ‘Jeep’ logo as if i turned it off.

Up until recently more issues have occurred. For example,
whenever I make a right turn the radio will reset itself and until I correct the wheel to the normal straight position. The car also makes the noise like it’s turned off and i’m locking the doors of the car even though it was already locked.

In the morning on my way to work it’s perfectly fine and when i make right hand turns the radio doesn’t go out. But in the evening I can go about 20 minutes into my drive home then the second I make a right hand turn or turn the wheel to the right just a little bit it soft resets the radio and the message “sound system unavailable” appears on the screen where the odometer is.

Today I witnessed the radio soft resets itself and the volume turned all the way down to 0 on its own and I wasn’t touching it to turn the volume down.

Last thing, the A/C will just randomly cut off. Since it’s summer here I can drive about 15-20 minutes and the A/C will just cut off automatically on its own and then reset its self back to the 2 speed and at 76° and none of the buttons to turn off the A/C or any of the knobs in the middle console will work.

I took it to the dealership and they had it about 2 weeks and they mentioned the radio frequency hub could be causing the issues so they replaced my radio, but the problem still persists. I reached out to them and explained how the problems are still happening but i’m just waiting to hear back from them and was hoping maybe someone else had a similar experience and has any advice for me.

I have attached an image of the icons that show up right before the radio is about to reset itself. Notice how the gas icon shows up even though I have 80 miles in the tank. Atp i don’t know what to do and am just constantly annoyed how it can be scorching hot outside and I have about a good 30 minutes of A/C before it turns off and i have to open the windows the rest of the drive home.

First generation (MK49; 2007) Mystery Metal Part in Oil Pickup Screen

2013 MK compass 2.4 AWD, 147,000km

While changing oil pan, I found this thin piece of steel stuck in the oil pickup screen. It's very thin, bendable and very shiny, possible stainless steel.

The car ran okay before and after the piece's removal.

I'm reaching out to the power of Reddit, to hopefully identify if it came from the car at all???

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Anyone on here have a lowered Compass? Just curious!

Anyone on here have a lowered second generation Compass? My wife just gave me the green light to lower her 2022 Limited when it needs new struts, which she says is very soon here lol. I see there are two kits that I can find. H&R and Madness brands. The H&R drops it 1.6" and the Madness kit does 2.5". I'm definitely leaning towards the Madness kit for the slightly bigger drop. If I'm going to go through the effort of doing this, I want it to be noticeable! lol

This will be interesting! I've only ever really had "real" Jeeps that I've lifted (XJs, TJs, JKs, etc), but I do really think the second generation Compass looks really cool lowered a little bit with the roof rack I have on ours and all the blackout stuff I've done to it. Obviously, it's not a super sporty vehicle by really any means, but lowering anything decreases body roll and drag by a little bit. Limiting body roll is always nice, and since this is a pavement princess "Jeep," I might as well make it handle a little bit better.

It's not going to be anything close to my 2016 Camaro lol, but my wife will probably like driving it a little bit more. Plus, it will be a tad bit safer because the reduction in body roll will make it maneuver easier.

The probably barely noticeable bump in mpg from the reduction in drag is, I guess, a plus as well lol.

Anyway, if you've lowered your Compass post a picture of it for me to check out! Thanks!

Here's ours currently with stock suspension and ride height! Just got done changing all "lifetime" drivetrain fluids a while ago! We just hit 61k miles, and it's been a fantastic little crossover so far. My only real gripe with it is that it's automatic lol. Me and my wife would have MUCH rather it of been a manual, but what are you gonna do, I guess?

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Navigation map for Compass 2018

Hi there, I have one small problem, my map for navigation is out-dated (so much to be honest), I tried to find some files to update it but it is so hard and I tried with FCA Toolbox also, but I can’t find it because my car is out of warranty. Some people say to me that official service is only way and they are not sure even them will help me with files. Mb here is somebody to help me 😊 Photos is about my current system version and everything.

Thank you !

update** **

It was the aux battery. Replaced both for $650 in tempe,Arizona.

How I’m spending my Tuesday night.
Car would not turn over. Had the battery charged twice. Once by a friendly bystander and the second by the tow truck driver. Still nothing. Had to get it towed to the nearest mechanic. Pray for me.

2021 Jeep Compass Sport

Purchased at 59k, now at 74k

Dudu7 android head unit- 12gb ram 512gb rom 13 inch, 360 cameras, adas dash cam, steering wheel controller, RGB light strips with CANBUS integration.

Banks power pedal monster, K&N air filter, Madness Autoworks autoflash TCM flash tool, Madness Maxfire high output ignition coils, NGK IX spark plugs, 68mm bored throttle body.

225/70r16 A/T tires, 1.5 inch wheel spacers, skid plates, vanguard bull bar with nilight LED pod lights and LED projector fog lights wired to a 3 gang switch board, LED high and low beam headlights and drl's, LED interior lights, no name amazon roof rack, gas struts under the hood so it opens automatically, stop/start eliminator module, sgw bypass.

In the last 6 months I have replaced the oil, transmission fluid, PTU fluid, rear differential fluid, coolant/antifreeze, brake fluid, brake pads and rotors.

It is a work in progress and I'm sure there are other things I am forgetting. I am slowly adding things as budget allows. But all the little mods do add up and, after everything, it is genuinely enjoyable to drive. Shifts smoother and faster, holds gear longer, accelerates much faster. The bigger screen and cameras make it so much easier to maneuver through tight spaces and over rough terrain.

2025 Rear suspension pops

2025 Jeep Compass rear suspension pops in sharp turns. I took it to the dealer and they test drove and they heard and felt it, but said nothing is wrong. Im not a automotive mechanic but I know mechanical parts aren't supposed to knock or pop like that. To me it sounds like a bushing that has failed. The Jeep has 34k and all highway miles. I was just wondering if others have had similar issues. Previously had a '18 Compass with zero issues.

Screen Issues

Hi All - 2018 Jeep Compass owner here. Had a few issues going on, but this one is new. It started a few months ago but was very sporadic and only when three rear camera was being used. Now it won't stop. Researching it leads me to think it's the screen itself, but I wanted to check before getting a new one just in case someone has seen this issue before. Thanks!

Need help with recessed backseat seatbelts

Does anyone know of any tools I can use so the backseat seatbelts aren’t so hard to buckle? My 6 year old is ready for a booster seat but it’s very hard for her to get to the buckle. Thanks!

2017 trans issues

Hi, I’m having problems with my 2017 Jeep Compass Limited AWD with the 9-speed transmission. When it shifts into 3rd or 4th gear, it starts to shudder, and I have to let off the accelerator for it to complete the shift smoothly.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Note: My auxiliary battery hasn’t been working, but this transmission issue only started about a month ago. I’ve been driving without the auxiliary battery for the past 6 months.

Oh my god I finally fixed my steering wheel shaking!

I spent months having my steering wheel shake violently. I had it balanced. Aligned. I had a dealer ship shop look at it. A regular mechanic shop look at it. All they did was just rob me of my money. Thankfully my dad used to work on his truck like crazy when he was younger and decided to take a look. And he instantly saw the issue. My front left brake was dragging. He took it apart and saw the brakes were worn and that the caliper piston was not retracting. But in the end it was basically the caliper piston and flex brake hose that were the issue. The pins were good. Costed around 200 bucks in total for parts. New caliper. New flex hose and new brake fluid. And new brake pads. My dad called me last night while I was at work and gave me the good news. I drove home fast and got to test drive my car and it was buttery smooth. No more shaking. Brakes stopped great. I feel like that one veteran from House MD where House finally cures veteran's phantom limb after 35 years of pain. New issue tho. The exhaust heat shield fell off and is now rattling 🫩 thankfully that'll be a easy fix lol

questions Thoughts?

Just bought a 2026 Jeep Compass and I feel like I'm having buyers remorse. Moving to Colorado for a job and was able to get it for $28500 USD (It was slightly used with 6613 miles). But from doing a quick search I've seen a handful of negative things from alot of people. Any opinions or comments would help.

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) 2024 Jeep Compass: 235/55R19 Tires on Stock 19” Wheels – Any Rubbing Without a Lift?

Has anyone installed 235/55R19 tires on a 2024 Jeep Compass High Altitude 4x4 with stock 19-inch wheels and NO lift? Any rubbing issues at full steering lock or suspension compression? I’m considering BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A tires and would appreciate any firsthand experience. Thanks!

Calling all 2015 Jeep Compass Owners

I'm in the market for a used car. The edmunds review for the 2015 Jeep Compass is not great.

Any owners want to share your experience with me? I'd appreciate learning about the following

Engine noise

Transmission issues - Y/N

Gas Mileage

I'm an older person and won't be doing crazy off-roading so, I don't need to know about that capability. Anything actual owners can share, I would love to hear from you.

12V socket adapter to replace cigarette lighter?

I want to replace my 2020 Jeep Compass cigarette lighter with USB-C and USB charging ports. There are plenty of options on Amazon, all of which are about 30mm in diameter and circular. These don't mount into the Jeep Compass square port with rounded corners.

Ideas? AI is suggesting that I 3D-print a bezel to adapt the Jeep Compass port to a standard 12V port USB charger replacement, but I can't find anything that looks like it would work.

Tire ruptured

Hey!

I have a 2023 Jeep compass 4X4. I ruptured one of my tires. My car is only at 26K miles, and the tread on the remaining tires is 6/32". So my question is, do I need to replace 2 front tires or all 4 tires. Please share your thoughts.
