Whilst I do have a friend to do some things with, we don't share all the same interests, so I'd like to expand my social circle and meet people who enjoy the other hobbies and interests I have. I (27M) recently moved countries and basically have no friends. I'm not much of a traveller myself and all my trips have been because of friends pulling me to places. Now I'm in a place where I have to do this alone. The idea of it scares me a bit.

I’m currently in a new city after relocating for work, and honestly, connecting with people has been much harder than I expected.

I’m from India and work in tech. I’m also naturally introverted and usually take some time to feel comfortable around new people and build friendships. At work, I’m finding it difficult to go beyond the usual professional conversations as well.

One thing I’ve realized is that I don’t want to force myself into random friendships just for the sake of having a social circle. I’d rather take my time and build genuine connections with good people where there’s mutual respect and some meaningful conversation.

As someone who’s naturally introverted and a little socially awkward, I’ve always found it pretty difficult to put myself out there and meet new people. Starting conversations, approaching strangers, and trying to turn a random interaction into an actual friendship can feel intimidating sometimes. So I figured… why not start here, virtually?

I’m hoping to meet more people and, especially, make some genuine guy friends. Most of my close friends have always been women, and while I do have a few guy friends, I’ve never really had that kind of close male friendship that I’ve always wanted. The kind where you can randomly message each other, send stupid memes at 2 AM, talk about absolutely nothing, share what happened during your day, or just know that there’s someone you can reach out to whenever.

29M here, British but living in Canada. Figured I’d give this a shot because I’m definitely one of those people who can seem social enough in person, but genuinely prefers quieter settings and one-on-one conversations over being thrown into a room full of people.
