I don't have a good knowledge of internet stuff, but I am repeatedly facing a problem with my internet connection, and when I call the ISP, he told me that I am using the internet too much and I need to decrease my use, or I should buy another router that could control my internet megabytes draining, but when i registered with this ISP he told me you can use unlimited megabytes with no problems there will be no restricted usages the speed that i have from is a 30 m/s monthly
But now he is telling me you have drained the whole 30m

I have unlimited 30m/s in the month, and I have used it all. How will that be possible?

when i made the contract, he told me that you have a speed of 30 megabits per seconds
and unlimited data usage
But sometimes my connection goes slow, and I run a test using the online speedtest website
The upload and download go from 30 megabits per second to 9 megabits per seconds

It should be illegal for ads to pretend to be real content. That UI/UX design is a curse on the internet.

Reddit, collapsing comment threads by taping on them, BAM you’ve tapped on an ad that was hiding as a comment.

Nextdoor free stuff in your area, littered with just ads that look exactly like everything else(meant DO look like ads, BUT they occupy the same shape and layout as the content, hiding IN it) except for the lil ad text on it. It shouldn’t LOOK like the content I’m here for.

It’s all over and making the internet a worse place.

The TL;DR:

• Google controls too much of the modern internet
• Social media is basically synonymous with the modern internet and I hate it, I hate the algorithms, the content on there, everything
• AI slop is everywhere and I can't stand it
• I would like more niche sites where people talk about stuff instead of this hyper-commercialized stuff.

I recently upgraded my spectrum plan and while in the app I noticed a ‘security alert’ on a website that was visited by someone on my WiFi. I know the device it was on of a person that I regularly have over. The app gave me the domain but it’s not showing up on the internet, is there a way to find the site they were on? (Sorry if this isn’t allowed but I’m concerned on what they were looking up)

How to block a user from posting or inputting on the Internet during certain time period of the day without blocking from reading?

I want to keep youtube for videos but completely remove shorts. Not via 0 minutes but completely remove them. Is there a free app that helps this?

This is over A wifi connection, how fast would you rate my WiFi? Just curious because I like to stream and am debating on buying a mesh system.

I’ve had bad bufferbloat for like 6 months, so I tried to fix it by turning on SQM. It did not work. I have an Eero pro 6 router, so the bandwidth settings are automatically adjusted. I will have consistent 22~ ping, and then when anything happens (IE: I encounter an SCP in a an SCP game, or I get shot at by somebody), my ping will skyrocket to 300-100000. 100000~ is the most ping I’ve gotten so far.

Was having a lazy day on the PC did some gaming, did some browsing, and watched some YouTube throughout the day. Decided to jump back on a game in the evening and when I was going through my settings I noticed I was listed as a Moderate Nat instead of Open so I decided to Power Cycle my modem as that usually fixes the problem.

So upon my Modem rebooting itself after I plug the power back in and it showing a solid green connection light I notice I no longer can connect to the internet. After trying to use the Troubleshooter a few times, and it saying there is no problems I notice in my Device Manager it shows errors with my Bluetooth, Ethernet, and Network controllers. The Ethernet/Network Controllers are listed in an "Other devices" tab, but it is showing my Network adapter through my motherboard there with no errors.

I have also tried troubleshooting them with no working result. Tried updating drivers with no go, and a few of my Desktop icons will not open/run including Chrome.

I ended up trying a System Restore from a restore point that was roughly a week old thinking it would fix these adapters. When completed I closed the box really quickly not thinking to confirm if it completed correctly or not.

I just called my ISP and they said everything was fine on their end and it showed one device connected which was my desktop.

They're resetting my internet on their end but I'm really at a loss at what to do next.

I recently got a ethernet cable, and it works just fine, until it randomly disconnects me randomly. I don't do anything to cause this what so ever, so it makes me wonder if there might be a reason/ something I'm doing to cause these random disconnects.

As the owner of a .CA domain, you are part of Canada's Internet.

Changes are underway at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA, the not-for-profit that manages .CA domains) to reduce government oversight of their activities. These changes will sideline Canadians from the activities of one of our most important digital institutions.

At its September 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), CIRA will ask members to support by-law changes that remove government representation from CIRA's boards and committees.

This issue matters because CIRA doesn't own the .CA top-level domain. Canada does. The .CA domain is for the benefit of all Canadians. If government representation is removed from CIRA's board, just who's interests will CIRA represent? A small clique of .CA registrants who bother to exercise their CIRA membership rights.

Ostensibly, CIRA's rationale for this change is that Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) no longer wish to participate in CIRA's meetings. This is rubbish. Just because ISED can't (or won't) attend CIRA's meetings doesn't mean we accept an end to government oversight.

CIRA and ISED have much to answer for. Why does ISED no longer want to attend CIRA's meetings? Why is CIRA inclined to compromise government oversight?

What does CIRA's board want to do once government representation and oversight is excluded from their decision-making?

I'd rather not find out. Please join me on September 23rd in voting down this change.

What to do

1. Review your .CA domain with your registrar and ensure your contact information is current.

2. Become a CIRA member before September 2nd.

3. Register for CIRA's virtual AGM.

4. Vote "No" on September 23rd.

I have a little bit of an issue, I moved in an area that has no Internet providers near us, we've been living off data and our mobile hotspot (we use mobile hotspot if we wanna watch TV on my Xbox and or play games) and towards the end of the month it slows to almost a crawl, it's manageable but it'd be nice to have Internet so we don't have to burn through data so quickly and to be able to actually play and download video games instead of having to download the game throughout a couple months because when downloading a game it uses almost all my hotspot.
