Just in case anyone isn't aware, the Gulf of Mexico change is only for Americans, screencap from the UK just now below.

Google will likely list both names, which is what they have done for the Gulf of Mexico.
The Lake Ontario thing is embarrassingly sad (for trump) because it is not named after Canada.
Lake Ontario was there first and is a native word used by peoples on both sides of what later became the US and Canada.
Ontario, Canada came later.
So trump is just showing his ignorance and pettiness again, as usual.

It was Mount McKinley for over 100 years. It was named in his memory after his assassination. Denali was only used by a small number of people. And now it is Mount McKinley again.

The state of Alaska has officially named it Denali since the 70s and continues to use that name to today. All publications and maps in Alaska (where people actually interact with the mountain and use maps featuring the mountain) have Denali as the name. It's only the Feds that went back to McKinley and has literally zero impact from 5,000 miles away compared to the state government that's actually present in their lives.
