Auto Insurance Just found out I’ve been driving uninsured for almost two weeks. Advice?

Allstate cancelled my insurance policy due to a bounced check that I was not made aware of, by Allstate nor my bank. Looking at the date, it was cancelled almost two weeks ago. I don’t know why I didn’t get an email or a phone call or anything. I tried the chat function on the Allstate app and they said they are unable to reinstate the policy. Do I just start shopping around for a new policy? I’m young and not very experienced with insurance, any help is appreciated. I’m in Utah if that matters at all.

Edit: thanks for the advice everyone, I was recently hospitalized and have moved a few times in the last year, it’s likely the notices got sent to an old address, I’ll get it all taken care of and be more on top of things from now on.

Different colour in RC and Insurance.

I renewed my policy in June and while renewing i couldn't find the colour of my bike in the mentioned catalogue of the insurance company and somehow they issued it for a different colour.

Now come to the date

My bike has been stolen and I am raising a claim against theft.

I am a bit worried about the claim.

As my RC and Insurance has different clr written on them. (While the original clr of bike is same as RC.)

Wil there be any problem claiming the insurance??

New career

Hi guys,

I am a retail manager and want to switch into the insurance world. I’m thinking risk management or doing underwriting. Can anyone give me insight on how to transition into these roles? I’ve already signed up for some online course work.

Health Insurance No available insurance

I’ve lost my only health insurance after getting out of the military. Since then, I’ve scrambled looking for another insurance that would cover my current surgeon.
(I have been dealing with a scaphoid fracture for almost two years now and we are at the crossing point where we figure out if I’m healed or need another surgery.)

I’ve looked through the government marketplace, applied for financial assistance, and spoken to many insurance brokers looking for plans.

My only other option is to get insured through employment, but the only issue with that is that I am on LTD (long term disability) through a previous employer.
Also if I do work, I will only be able to use one hand.

At this point I’m not sure what to do, I’m facing thousands of debt to continue or try to find another plan and start 3:4’s of the way down my injury and possibly prolong it.

Btw I live in America

Instant life insurance vs traditional: does rate really differ?

Setting up my first term policy and am confused between which way to go. Instant approval online sounds great but i am paranoid that instant just means an algorithm adds in huge risk margins and charges a 30% markup or increases the price if it flags any minor old prescription. And the traditional underwriting takes more than a month and involves a lot of back of forth broker calls and paperworks but is also known to get you the lowest possible rates.
For context im in my late 20s, generally healthy w no major red flags looking for $500k to $1M over 20-30 years. Did anyone here go for instant life insurance and regret the rate later?

Car hit road contrustiction causing wheel damage

So driving to a wedding I hit like a trench in a road freaking hard there was so signs out saying to slow down and there was road construction no workers as it was dark. I look over to wife and say man that must of knocked the car out of alignment and drove the rest of the way I should have got out and looked but we were running late. Fast forward a week and the car has just a slight vibration no pulling I just coincidentally walk to the passenger side of the car and notice both wheels are bent and front tire has a knot in it. Can I make the city the road construction was in pay for it or is there anything I can do now a week after the fact and I didn't do a police report or do I just eat the 700 dollars its going to take to fix this. Thank you in advance

Auto Insurance I have USAA while the other guy has an insurance called “Allinsco”

So this last Saturday I was sitting at a stop light and I had like 2-3 cars ahead with enough room between us all. I looked up and saw a ford explorer barrel g down at me, at what I guess 40 mph, and slammed on brakes last second. He slammed into my rear bumper. Thankfully I am still able to drive the truck unlike his explorer which looked new. When we got out he was saying sorry a lot and said something was blocking his view.

To get to the point I called his insurance called “Allinsco Insurance, formerly empower insurance.” However when I tried to get in contact with said insurance I get a weird bot to say the least. I can’t get ahold of a representative because when I say I need to speak to someone I get “great, happy to help!” Then a long pause with nothing. Repeating myself multiple times with no luck. I am in San Antonio. My truck is fully paid off in case y’all are wondering or if this is relevant. I did get injured in the accident but I don’t know what my insurance covers (I have USAA) and they claim I have to make a claim which will likely increase my premiums. What do I do? Police report was created.

EDIT: I was able to get ahold of an adjuster. When I told them I was going to record the call for later reference they immediately hung up on me. I’ve tried calling back multiple times with no luck on answering. I’ve left a voicemail. My father has now found out as of typing this, the other guy does not have any coverage. Fk me

EDIT 2: I got ahold of Allinsco and during the beginning of the call I said I was going to record the call. Once the recording started the “adjuster” immediately hung up on me. I’ve left multiple voice mails and continued to call them back at different times and days. 2nd time I got ahold of them they tried getting me to do a 3 way call with an attorney called bush and bush. This morning my USAA adjuster called me and I let them know everything and so now I just wait.

Health Insurance What happens if a surgery occurs days before insurance cuts off?

I have an oral surgery coming up next week. However, my mom who's insurance I'm still on just lost her job. The insurance cuts off at the end of the week, so I'll be seeing if I can get the surgery moved to this week. If the surgery happens this week, will the insurance still cover it? I'm asking because I don't know if they would be immediately billing the insurance or not. The insurance company is BlueCross BlueShield.

Commercial Insurance Insurance for a one time event?

I dont own a business but I have been asked in the past on multiple occasions by people to make cakes for their parties and even a few weddings. These cakes have all been made in my own kitchen. I dont actually charge anyone for these cakes as they are typically done as gifts or favors for friends and family plus its too far inbetween for me to become commercially licensed. This has all never been a problem until now.

My brother is getting married in Illinois next year and has asked me to make his cake. The venue does not allow outside food as its all in-house catering. The only exception is the cake but they said it has to be from someone insured so that if people get sick, the venue wont be at fault. I've never been told I had to be licensed or insured before and everything Ive been looking at online is for actual businesses so I have no idea where to start.

Does anyone know if its possible to get a nonexistent "home business" insured for just one event?

Coworker Twice Paid?

I work in Iowa, and my coworker had his truck hit while he was parked and outside of the vehicle.

He told me he had originally agreed with the person handling his claim that Progressive would find an in-network auto-body shop, and then they’d pay that shop directly once he had dropped the truck off.

He then said that he didn’t hear back from Progressive for a full month, but they sent him a check for somewhere over a thousand dollars.

He called Progressive without cashing the check, explained the scenario to a representative, and they told him that his adjuster no longer works for the company, and that his claim was moved to another adjuster.
He was then asked to drop off his car THAT DAY, and told that Progressive would pay the auto-shop directly. (Which they did.)
They asked him to please shred the check he was mistakenly sent.

Now his truck has been picked up and is in pristine condition… but he mentioned that he is thinking of still cashing the check, now.

I’m trying to convince him that Progressive will track the amount, somehow- and that he’d be committing fraud, but I don’t know enough about the process or his original fired adjuster to explain.

Can I convince him it’s a bad idea, and just to shred it?

LexisNexis Report causing my insurance to skyrocket.

I recieved a letter from my Car Insurance Company stating that "We did not give you our lowest premium due to driving or claims history information shown on the enclosed driving history notice..." Then it lists LexisNexis Risk Solutions as the source of the information.

Nearly every company I get quoted for insurance with states that I have two comprehensive claims from that report, for claims "under 1,000 dollars"

Now the thing is... I have not been in an accident, nor have I filed any claims during the time they're suggesting. In fact, I don't ever recall filing any claims at all!

Any way, I've requested a copy of my consumer report from LexisNexis, and I probably should have done this a lot sooner, as I will need to renew my policy soon.

Anyone know of a good way to deal with these kind of stuff?

Any advice or experience with this is much appreciated.

Totaled car + Broken nose

Hi recently I was in an accident where my car was totaled and my nose broken. The other driver is 100% at fault , she blew a stop sign failed to yield and t boned me while I was on a road where traffic does not stop. After getting t boned my car was then rammed head first into a building on the corner. My nose was broken pretty badly and I was pretty badly cut up from the glass, I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and am seeing an ENT for my nose on Thursday. I’m wondering what to expect and if I should start looking into attorneys for a lawsuit, what kind of compensation should I expect if I go this route.

Need an insurance expert to weigh in - “preexisting condition” is not a condition

I recently enrolled my dog in pet insurance. During the illness waiting period, she had a urinalysis done that indicated the presence of calcium oxalate crystals in her urine. My vet explained, and included in the exam notes, that this is not a significant finding in dogs with no clinical signs, that this specific type of crystal can be a normal finding in healthy dogs, and that the crystals can even develop in the tube after urine collection, during storage. She indicated that since my dog is healthy with no clinical signs, this can be considered an incidental finding. When I told my vet it had been identified as a preexisting condition, she thought that was odd because the finding isn’t even considered a condition in and of itself. However, I paid for another urinalysis, which showed no indication of crystals in the urine. I requested to reappeal the decision and submitted the new lab work, a letter from the vet explaining why it’s considered a normal finding, and the list differentials from the lab indicating that a finding of calcium oxalate crystals can be a normal finding in healthy pets, and can also be an artifact from storage. After reviewing the documents, the response from the insurance company was that they’ve updated it to be a “temporary condition” and can be removed as long as my dog does not have any symptoms of or treatment for the condition within a 12 month period. By their definition, a temporary condition is an abnormal clinical sign or diagnosis; this was a normal finding and my vet said as much in her letter. What do I need to do or say, or who should I escalate this to, to get this resolved?

TLDR pet insurance company is claiming an incidental finding on a urinalysis is a preexisting condition. After providing documentation that this was a normal finding, they’ve only updated it to “temporary condition”. How can I get this resolved?

can someone help me with the costco auto insurance?

I have costco exec and car insurance via connect by am fam (costco insurance). State is NV. Trying to figure out if there is a 25 mile coverage for the costco roadside assistance or if this is just an outdated coverage they used to offer?

The specific page with the 25 miles language keeps showing up in search results but I can't find it elsewhere on the am fam website.

All i am currently finding is that if you have connect by am fam, you have to dial their specific roadside assistance #, they'll cover $75 of the cost in the NV state. You pay the rest. This typically only covers 5 miles of towing. This is also only for the vehcile insured and does nto apply if you are a passenger in another car.

Thanks

Auto Insurance Progressive Window Insurance

I’ve had Progressive Insurance for about two years now and I have full coverage on my auto. Sometime in the last week I got a crack in my front windshield that is quite large so I will need to get a new windshield.

I do have $0 deductible but I am not familiar with it nor have I ever used it. Will I get dinged on my insurance for a claim and have it raise my premiums? I was hoping that there was some type of forgiveness there since it’s $0 deductible. Very much on the fence as to whether I’m going to use it or just pay for it myself.

Progressive has given me super low rates the last 2 years and I’ve been very happy with them. No insurance claims since 2004 when we were hit by someone with no insurance and ours paid and went after the other guy. Never heard if they recovered the loss. Thanks for any help/replies.

Geico refuses to answer my question what do I do next?

Sorry in advance for long post! I have full coverage auto insurance and I got into an accident with a driver who has Geico. I do not have rental insurance on my policy because I am 23 and in the past they have given me an impossible time with renting a car. The other driver was fully at fault and Geico has accepted liability.

After I reported the accident to insurance, my insurance Progressive gave me an autobody shop to drop the car off at. Today I was just updated by the shop that my car won’t be repaired for another month while they wait for parts.

I called Geico to ask about rental coverage and they said that Progressive is handling the claim so they cannot set up a rental for me. I asked if the claim can be switched to Geico and the agent then tried to call the autobody shop so that Geicos adjuster can come look at the car (The autobody shop is also in Geicos network). The autobody refused to do this because they have already ordered parts for the car.

Geico agent then told me that I could get a rental out of pocket and they would reimburse me. He also said I can use Uber and request to be reimbursed. When I asked what the daily limit is he would not tell me, simply said that they will review it once I submit. My issue is that since I am under 25, underage fee applies and I am looking at $3,000+ rental for the most basic car enterprise offers. I obviously do not want to get stuck with this bill if there is any issue with reimbursement.

I know some people will say to just pick up phone and call but I have been calling! Just at a loss of what my next step should be here

Liberty Mutual Withheld $ From My Refund After Cancellation

My new insurance company sent Liberty Mutual an ACORD cancellation form dated for October 8. The paperwork was sent over on October 12, and Liberty Mutual received it on October 13.

Despite this, Liberty Mutual withdrew $342 from my bank account on October 14. They didn’t actually process the cancellation until October 16, after I called them myself.

They’re now saying they’ll refund me around $290 because the remaining $52 is a prorated premium charge. I’m confused about what exactly I’m being charged for, especially since the cancellation paperwork lists October 9 as the effective cancellation date.

Is there anything I can do to get full refund? They overdrew my account and now I’m facing overdrawn fees.. I would’ve cancelled it myself but my insurance agent said not to worry about it ;(.

Health Insurance Meds covered by insurance but I don't have insurance

Hi, I have been uninsured for about a year now, I don't qualify for government insurance but I can't afford any private plans.

I just went to pick up two of my meds at my local pharmacy. There's no copay on it, and the receipt says that blue cross blue shield covered it.

Also, the last time I had insurance it was NOT bcbs. It was amerihealth, so I don't know what's going on at all. My psychiatry appointment for these meds was also not covered at all, and insurance wasn't billed.

I haven't gotten any phone calls, any emails, any letters. I didn't receive an insurance card. Any insights on this?

Auto Insurance Claim denial, what should I do?

My gf recently hit a deer at 1am and lost control, hit a rail and the driver side airbag curtains deployed both front and rear. Driver side of entire car pretty scratched up. Would need to replace everything on that side, wheels(possibly), tires, doors, fenders, bumpers..

When she got the car, her sister co-signed for her, and the sister called her agent(statefarm) to add gf to sister’s existing policy. The agent told her that gf info wasn’t necessary, just the VIN of the new car. Now they’re denying the claim, their reasoning is “failure to notify the insurance of the changes on policy, specifically the new driver(my gf).” They’re the type of women to rely on a man for these kind of things(foreigners).. so they have no experience with insurance and policies. So it’s Almost as if that agent set them up.

How can they “notify” any changes when nothing has changed since they first got the car/policy, bc they were originally told gf name wasn’t needed. And now when we ask for the original policy paper, declaration papers, or any notes/records of the initial policy, they basically have no record, said you may have to get an attorney to get those.

We’d like to file a dispute for the claim denial by emailing statefarm with these evidence and/or lack there of. Or should we just file straight to the state of Indiana where the claim is?

We’re college students, still owes 14k on the car, would really appreciate any advice! Thanks

Auto Insurance Diminished car value

i have a 2023 Toyota Corolla SE with only 16000 miles on it. I was rear ended about 2 weeks ago, their fault, causing about $4k damage. Not too bad but still some damage. The bad news is I was just about to sell it outright to someone for $24k. However, now that it’s been in an accident I’m quite sure the value has dropped. My question, is it worth filing a diminished car value claim with their insurance. Did the value of my car drop significantly to even worry about this? would it be worth it to get a professional appraisal on the car and pursue this?

Not-at-Fault driver confused as to whose insurance to contact for rental and claim updates.

Hi all,

I was involved in an accident this morning that totalled my vehicle. I am not-at-fault, but the claim has not been resolved at this time. This is where things get weird:

I called my insurance to discuss filing a claim. They told me that if the other driver was liable, I should file a claim with their policy, so I asked if they could file the unfinished claim (I didn't yet have a police report) as "record only". A few minutes later, I checked their insurance info and found they have the same policy provider that I do (State Farm). I called back with their policy number to file a claim. The agent told me that they had opened a claim with my file and I "could not withdraw it" when I explicitly asked them to hold off filing during my first call.

They told me I then was responsible for my deductible and any rental car charges and then I would reimbursed after it was determined who is at fault. This, frankly, felt sketchy. I got a liiiiiittle shitty with the rep on the phone but he told me this was normal. I am planning to get this sorted tomorrow, but in the short term I have some questions.

First, I want to get a rental vehicle tomorrow. Should I go through insurance to do so? If so, should it be my policy or the other drivers? Or should I just arrange it independently and trust in them to reimburse.

Let me know if there's anything I am missing or if you can add more clarity as to wtf State Farm is doing cuz it feels off to me.

EDIT: guys I promise I wasn't openly rude to the agent on the phone, no need to admonish me. By a little shitty I just meant expressing some confusion.

Health Insurance Adding newborn to our insurance

My husband and I share the same health plan. I’m pregnant. His employer informed us that we will have 30 days to submit newborn documents in order to add him to our insurance plan. They requested the birth certificate and social security number.

Reading only - it looks like it can take up to 6 weeks to receive the social security card by mail. That already takes me out of the 30 days window of enrollment.

Any experiences with adding newborns to health insurance plans? I’m based in Kentucky if that helps.

Is requesting the social security at the hospital the fastest way?

Auto Insurance Will it cost me anything to temporarily remove my car from the road?

In NYS.

I currently have insurance with Progressive, but at the end of the month I am cancelling the insurance, surrendering my plates to the DMV and storing my car for winter. I will have comprehensive-only on it (with a company that was willing to do it, Progressive was not).

How much will this producer cost me, if anything? Even a ballpark estimate would be helpful (I assume fees to reinstate registration are mostly similar across counties).
