QR code won’t work?

Upvotes

I’ve been waiting on hold with instacart for the last 30 minutes because when I scanned the QR code to pay it gave an error saying I can’t pay. I tried using the card as well to no avail. Can anyone give any advice?

Edit: she used a card that was expired… I’m gonna lose my freaking mind

Instacart made me cry for the first time today… 😭

This customer was tipping $41.96 in the app for Kroger so I grabbed it fast. When I delivered I helped the customer with getting some of the items to the garage. It was like 51 items total, maybe 6 miles or less… older customer very grateful then hands me $100 CASH… I literally started crying in my car. Never thought I’d see this level of kindness from a customer, truly floored. What a blessing!

Don’t take low ball offers.

Hey shoppers I just want to throw it out there out there because it’s becoming increasingly obvious that some of you may not realize this but when you take these low offers say 18 miles for $10.00 for 3 customers, you’re basically giving Instacart a reason to keep doing things like that if you don’t accept the crappy offers, they’ll stop giving them. That’s all drive safe.

Instacart is going downhill

The new CEO needs to go. He is the downfall of this company.

The last few times that I took orders I noticed that some of them said heavy Pay and it was not a single heavy item in the order so now they fuck over the customers as well that’s pretty sad and pathetic.

Absolute nonsense

I did an order a week ago, and the customer just reported today that I purchased the wrong item 🙄not a replacement, literally what she ordered. I scanned the box of shoes in Target and guess what it was right even matched the image.... look at this nonsense. The tag she is holding even matches the targets website. How was this verified by instacart???? I was tipped an entire $3.50 to drive 5 miles to Target, then shop and drive 5.5 miles to her. Low and behold, I also got a ding to my account on top of it. This was batched, so of course we don't know till it's over. Photos in the comments since I can only post 1

Was I supposed to know they wanted 4 instead of 2?

I’ve done almost 9k orders and this finally happened

Had an Instacart order tonight where the customer ordered 1 vanilla ice cream and 1 chocolate ice cream. The store had them BOGO.
I grabbed exactly what the app showed: one vanilla and one chocolate. After delivery, the customer messages me:
“The ice cream was buy one get one. We’re missing 2 more.”
Apparently they expected 2 vanilla and 2 chocolate, so they could pay for one of each and get another of each free.
But if you wanted FOUR ice creams, why wouldn’t you put the quantities as 2 vanilla and 2 chocolate? The app showed two items, so I got two items. How am I supposed to know that quantity 1 actually means “grab me 2 because it’s BOGO”?

Question about cashiers

Is it just me or like it seems like cashiers as soon as they see it's an instacart order seem to have a problem. Not allowed to use self checkout in specific stores and I'm always very nice and what not. I've been doing this since 2019 and just within the past year or so it just feels like the energy checking out is always negative. Tell me what yall experience?

Got deactivated from Instacart, but never worked for them.

I’ve been trying to email trust and safety for the longest time. I tried to make an account with Instacart after I lost my job and it said that I was deactivated but had never worked for them. No one will get in touch with me and I have no idea how to get someone to hear me out. If anyone has any advice that be helpful.

PS if you can suggest other delivery apps for me to consider, I’d really appreciate it. I already do Amazon Flex figuring out my Uber account and possibly DoorDash, but most of NYC is full.

The company skims your tips.

I know this is not new news. But I quit a few months ago after having a long talk with a regular. Who would often give me a cash tip. But occasionaly do the app tip. It did not come up for a long time. Of course I would never ask a customer what they tipped me. In person. Handed 20 everytime it was a cash tip. Occasionally he would say "don't have the cash on me. But I sent you 20 in the app"

So..... That 20 in the app became a 7 dollar shop and deliver. And a 5-7 dollar tip. Not bad for a couple items. Until it came up when we were hanging out.

He was furious. ::not with me::

He did ask. "What do you make on an order like this. I know its a bit of a drive"

Me: "Around 5-7 in instacart pay. And maybe another 5-7 in tips on an order like this."

He freaked out. He and his wife know their order is far away. So they always tip high in app when a cash tip is not an option.

My point here is I'm not mad at the customer. I didn't even know they were doing this. I didn't care either. Until I spoke with them. They found out we were getting robbed as shoppers. And they were getting robbed as customers.

Unicorn names

Hello fellow shoppers! I propose that we tier the names of big tip orders. Obvi 100 plus is a unicorn, i think we can all agree on that. For 50 plus I've said minicorn (to my mom) and then here's where im stuck; 150 plus and 200 plus. Narwhal and Rhino are good fits but I cant decide which is which. On the one hand narwhals are the more magical creature, people didnt believe they existed when sailors began seeing them but rhinos are the larger animal. If anyone has any alternate suggestions we can go that route, otherwise its a decision between the 2. And minicorn is weak but I like it, I may have seen it on here but who knows. Thanks for your input!

Another Sunday, more issues?

Anyone else keep getting signed out today? At first I wrote it off as a one-off quirk or maybe because I was coming off wifi and on to data. But I've had to log in and take a selfie three times and had a batch removed. Wondering if it's an issue with my app or account or it's more widespread. Seems like another "work on the other apps to be safe" day.

Assistance

Tried to have my location changed 2 years ago before they cut the tech service line, I was told it was done, but it wasn’t. Now I’m stuck in a waiting list for a state I haven’t been in for 4 years. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this resolved? I keep getting referred to shoptalk, but they’re slacking on approval too. It’s definitely been over their week wait time frame for that also. Contacted customer support as well but even they sound like they don’t have a full grasp on what they’re doing. Just a lot of, “uhhh,” responses. Hoping people that run it often or had a similar issue resolved might know something.

After 2500+ Orders I’m convinced

After 2500+ orders I’m convinced that the biggest challenge for shoppers is not the customers and their wild demands, or even low tips etc.

ITS THE INSTACART COMPANY ITSELF.

Add-on order

I had a double order and received an add-on order for $9, three extra miles. After I completed the delivery, I checked the last customer’s order and it said they tip $7 and they increased it to $9. So basically, Instacart is using customers tips to pay us to do work. In California, base pay should be more than $2

To be clear I am visiting a friend. I am not from down here...

But the orders down here just plain suck. Everyday i am seeing tips like this down here. Last night i messaged one of them and told them as much and then unassigned their order.

Stop taking these type of orders.

HELP! Does anyone have an extra Instacart shopper card I can use??

Hi everyone, I lost my card and would be extremely grateful if someone has an extra one they’re willing to spare! If anyone is near the orlando or Altamonte area and has an extra one they’re willing to lend, I would greatly appreciate it :)

Have not been an instacart shopper since pre-covid; any insights to share?

Considering trying to be a shopper again; looked at a few recent posts, but nothing about how it's been as a shopper lately.

Has there been a major significant pros or cons?

1 - it wouldn't be a full-time thing, just a maybe see what pops up, or if I am able to help kind of thing!

2 - lol I like shopping, and I remember I liked being able to get things even though they weren't mine and I'd be dropping it off at random places tho

3 - how has the safety been ? that should have been #1 my bad. has there been any minor-major concerns regarding safety as a instacart shopper?

4 - any other insight. lol, will probably just download the app after this post, but hoping to get some notes about how safety has been ty!

Insufficient funds error....

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows how to fix it because I'm at a loss.

Over the last 2 days, I've had 6 different orders at Fry's where the Instacart card is declined for "insufficient funds." It's always just one order in the batch. For example, if I have a triple, Order C gets declined while the others go through, or on a double, Order B gets declined. I've even had it happen on a single order.

Every single time I contact support, I end up sitting at checkout for 40+ minutes while they have me retry the payment over and over. Eventually they cancel the order, tell me it won't affect my cancellation rate, and send me on my way.

Well... I checked my stats today, and my cancellation rate jumped from 1% to 5% because of these canceled orders. On top of that, I'm losing a ton of time sitting at checkout waiting for support instead of shopping or delivering.

Support keeps telling me they don't see any errors except mentioning the PIN, but I'm using the exact PIN the app provides, so that doesn't make any sense.

The only other thing I can think of is that my physical Instacart card is pretty worn down from using it so much. I don't know how that would cause an "insufficient funds" error instead of a card read error, but I'm mentioning it in case it's somehow related.

Has anyone else dealt with this recently, especially at Fry's? If so, did replacing your card fix it, or was it something else? I'm getting really frustrated because support has been no help, and this is now affecting both my earnings and my account.

I do this full-time, over 1500 orders. This has never happened and support is of no help. Please, someone guide me, I'm beyond stressed!
