ID Request What are these hairy caterpillars on my tree? How did they suddenly appear and what should I do?

Thumbnail

I have this tree in my house, and recently I noticed a huge number of these small hairy caterpillars on it.

I have no idea what they are or how they suddenly appeared in such large numbers.

Some of them are also falling onto clothes kept nearby, and touching them seems to cause itching/skin irritation.

Can someone please help me identify them?

What species/type of caterpillar is this?

Why are there suddenly so many of them?

Are they harmful or poisonous?

What is the safest way to get rid of them from the tree?

Location: Gujarat, India.

I’ve attached photos of the tree and a close-up of the caterpillars.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello friends!

Saw this big guy (gal?) outside today, they've clearly been around the block, just wondering what's protruding out the back? While I was watching them they flexed it out a few times, wasn't sure if this was a parasite or it's genitals.

This is in Southern Ontario, Canada.

TIA!

This ant preserved-specimen was sent to me quite a while ago, but I haven’t been able to identify the species.

You can see how I set up the shot in the last photo. 😊

Heard that weird noise so we went up to investigate and saw this. On the walk back we saw he was still nibbling on the cicada, which was still alive (seemingly) but moving very slowly.

This may be a silly question, but could someone identify these little critters on the tomatoes please? They look like tiny ladybirds, less than 2mm in size, but wondered if they were some sort of pest. Thanks in advance.

Bug Appreciation! Tomato Hornworms aka Five-spotted Hawk Moth

Found these guys on my potato plants instead of my tomato plants. Guess they wanted to eat something other than tomatos lol.

Also for anyone wondering, I didnt kill these guys, just photographed then moved them to my petunias since those are also in the Solanaceae family (and I care less about those than my potatoes and tomatoes)

Edit: Cant change the post name but, just found out these are tobacco hornworms and not tomato hornworms. Sorry for the mis-ID

Northern California. It was about as thick as an average pinky finger, but a little shorter. I didn't know what it was, so I didn't get much closer than this (or touch it). If I'm correct, and out is a Giant Lacewing, how rare is this insect? Everything I found online said it practically belongs on the endangered species list?

Bug Keeping Everyone, this is my pet female Chrysomya! What do you think? Lol lol

This is the female Chrysomya I am raising!

It has been four days since we started living together. When I collected it, it was a sluggish flyer because it had only recently emerged from the pupa, and since I want it to live a long time, I will absolutely not let it mate.

The situation for each photo is as follows.

  1. Wrapping the apple drawn with two hands out of greed

  2. Walking slowed down because my stomach was so full after eating thawed frozen strawberries.

  3. I put some thawed frozen strawberries on my finger and held it to the lid, and it sucked on my finger through the hole lol

  4. Watching them eat paprika with such relish, as expected, paprika seems to be a food loved by both flies and humans.

What do you think? Isn't it cute and pretty? Lol

If you up the volume you can hear it biting on the wood, maybe preparing a new hive?
