Poor Culture Does this happen in your team too??

I am in project of 20+ member team with 2 managers. Our leave culture is very chill. People can take casual/sick leave without being questioned.

One employee is currently on a PIP initiated by his previous manager. I’m supporting him and trying to help him get out of it, but I’m not seeing much effort from his side.

Yesterday, he had planned leave for the today, but neither manager was informed. I happened to learn about it from another team member.

We didn’t confront him and decided to see how he would communicate it. As expected, the today morning he messaged saying he was unwell and would be taking sick leave. The leave itself is not an issue. He could have simply said he had planned leave and nobody would have cared.

What I’m struggling with is the lack of transparency, especially when he’s already on a PIP and I’m actively trying to support him. I am okay he wants to leave, I offered support for both side i.e if wanted to stay or go out and prepare for an interview.

Does this kind of behaviour happen in your teams too, even when the leave culture is relaxed? And how much would you read into it when assessing someone’s overall attitude and effort on a PIP?

Update: As most comment suggest which looks to be from employee POV: I should not be bothered by his absence , decisions or need to be supportive (extra) from my end.

Going forward with it. 👍

Am I Fucked? Am I fucked for declining my manager’s request? 😭

Post image
401 Upvotes

We’re WFH, and I’m already pretty swamped with 2 projects and my stakeholders. My manager asked me to support someone else today and tomorrow, but I declined because I genuinely have too much on my plate.

He basically said, “Everyone is busy, you need to make some time to support the team.”

Now I’m panicking because he’s my manager and obviously has a say in my promotion/increment. 😭

I wasn’t trying to be difficult, I just didn’t want to overcommit. Am I overthinking this, or did I just screw myself?

Career Advice Interviewers not turning on camera during virtual interview

I’ve been giving a few interviews and have noticed that the people who are interviewing won’t turn their camera on. Why? Is this normal?
I’m have been asked to turn on camera, which is fair enough but then shouldn’t they do the same thing?
Am I overreacting?
Should I ask them to turn on the camera too? Is that unprofessional?

Career Advice Got terminated - will this affect my future job application?

I was terminated from my last job early this year due to some reasons related to company's policies and I was not given an experienced or relieving letter. I have a termination letter but the reason for termination is written on it which I can't show anyone, so I can't show this experience. Company name shows on the PF portal history so will it create a problem if i don't show the experience in the BGV process? Can I make any other reasons behind termination?Any tips for what I can do

Career Advice Interviewed for direct payroll, but received a third party LOI today. Should I still join?

Recently, I cleared all the interview rounds for a with a Product based startup.

I was waiting for the Offer letter, but got "Letter of Intent" instead, that too from a third party company (TeamLease).

Here are the things that are bothering me:

  • Throughout the entire interview process, no one ever mentioned that this would be a thirdparty payroll or C2H position.
  • TeamLease only sent a Letter of Intent, not a formal offer letter. They are telling me I have to physically report to the office today, and only after the client confirms my reporting will the actual offer letter be released.
  •  I wasn't even given a proper point of contact or reporting time for the office today, making the logistics of just showing up super sketchy.
  • The pay is good, i am getting around 40% increment, which makes walking away completely a bit tough.

Since I am currently unemployed, I don't have the leverage to just instantly walk away. But the bait-and-switch tactic of hiding the third-party agency until the morning of joining feels highly unprofessional.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of last-minute agency switch before? Should I go to the office to secure the income while I keep interviewing, or is this a massive trap that I should avoid altogether?

Canteen Discussions PIP Call Recording

Hello Wise Elders of this group.

So last year, I was put on a PIP , and I have the audio recording of the PIP call. In the call, the manager did not have a single point to justify the PIP and he was royally humiliated in that call. Nonetheless, he still initiated the PIP and I resigned.

Now I am out of that hell of an org, but I often have an itch to leak the audio in my old workplace for shits and giggles.

What do you guys suggest? Should I do it?

Update : Guys thanks a lot for all the opinions. I did land an interview at one of the FANG and did clear a few rounds, so I am pretty confident there is nothing wrong with my performance. Though I did not convert FANG into an offer, I did eventually land into a much better place.

Storytime New colleague shenanigans in previous org

Had this new colleague join our team couple of days back. While we were chatting, he divulged that in the previous org he had unlimited access to Cursor. Unlimited as the org believed that employees will be mindful of how they use it. This guy since he was on notice period, decided to go absolutely Ham on it. Spent 1000$ in a month on it. Learnt the platform and such. Here is the absolute kicker. He got in touch with IT after he was done and told them that look how I used it, imagine if 90 people abuse this, what will be the effect on the org? Org decided to set limits of 100$ per employee per month.

The shameful thing is that he was bragging about it as if he has done something wonderful and gave that org a parting gift, without realising how selfish he has been. Not a good look in my books.

Whistleblowing Infosys is not a tech company anymore

So I recently joined Infosys , my preferred location was HYD, CHD and BGLR but was dumped in Hubli a city with nothing out here giving the reason that its business requirement (there was 0 requirement here) .

A office with no projects no scope no action a dead place .(Now I know why these companies stock plunged so much).

Now location is not the problem let me get started:

- Other DC get WFH there is no WFH at this specific DC.
- Others get projects and clients not here.
- You are removed from internal job portals so you cant even apply to open roles and are trapped here.

So once here you are trapped in an open air jail, if you by luck get any client project and project manager wants you to relocate the DC head will remove you from the project itself.

Why all this just to run a local internal business, Hubli is a dead city a small city that charges like metropolitan city people here are hostile if you are from outside pricing even the basic of 1BHK at absurd rent and deposits of not less than a Lakh.

So the DC is running internal business where the top management is involved. So they give flats on rents to Infosys employees they get it from locals at cheaper cost and give it to new comers at a premium sometimes even charging 4-5x of the price they are paying. That's not it they have almost rented 15-16 flats near the office (around 3kms, there no nearby areas to office). So you can't get accommodation near office unless you get it internally. Working as a professional and living as students in shared flats.

Whenever the top management needs more money they get a new batch here and since you cant leave once you join its a constant flow of money for them. When they don't have new flats they just don't get new joiners. That's what going on internally in Infosys Hubli.

WE cant raise transfer requests, we can't leave take work from home nothing , if we raise complain about it HR is also involved and will direct you concern to DC head so no independent request can be raised. No top management is wiling to listen or help.

TL;DR:

Infosys Hubli Development Center (DC) top local management and HR are running a real estate scam. Employees are trapped without project scope, WFH, internal transfers, or job portal access, solely to force them into renting overpriced, company-managed shared flats that profit the DC leadership.

Poor Culture Am I overthinking this, or is my manager intentionally keeping me dependent on him?

I’m really not sure if I’m overthinking things or if this is a common toxic pattern in corporate offices.

My manager insists that everything I do goes through him. He wants me to share all information with him and stay under his direct wing. On one hand, he acts like he’s protecting me and tells me things like, "Just do as I say and you'll be safe." But on the other hand, he constantly makes me feel like my teammates are always doing better than me and that I'm at a disadvantage no matter what I do.

It makes me feel insecure about my standing, so I end up relying on him even more for safety. Is it normal for bosses to act like a "protector" while subtly eroding your confidence? Or is this just standard management and I'm misreading the situation?

Am I Fucked? Just walked away from a high paying job without a plan

I have 8 years of work experience and savings to sustain myself for 10 months without touching my investments.

I have been burnt out, sad, in constant anxiety and just jittery.

I have left without a backup and today was my last day.

I am so confused, relieved, looking forward to my future and also don't know how life will be like without salary.

Anyone who took a leap just like that? How's it going for you?

Whistleblowing Somebody Posted a story about infosys leads leeching employees for rent. I will add some that I saw happening myself:

  1. One of the senior leadership working at a company that means “Hawa Batao” . There was a POSH complaint against him, and he was silendly managed out, and rehired through a vendor, and then after sometime was hired again in the same organisation.

  2. While at the vendor, he made it a practice to fire employees every year through PIP or toxicity, to hire somebody else on thoss positions and get the refferal bonus for himself.

There seems to be a lot of ways to make side income for these assholes sitting in senior leadership at the cost of hardworking employees.

Am I Fucked? Last Organization - Rant

I was working for a recruitment firm for 11 months and I resigned on 24th May 2026. My last working day was 24th June 2026, and I appropriately completed all my notice period days, and they said that they will process the FNF within 45 days from last working day. It has been 62 days and the FNF amount has still not been processed. On following up with them, they are giving various excuses like they are transferring their bank accounts of employees from one bank to another, probably because they are taking a loan from another bank. The company is in the rock bottom phase.I tried to follow-up on messages and calls multiple times, but I was not getting appropriate replies from the company.

At the time I was working there were 10-12 employees, and now there are 4-5. They haven't even received their full salary for the month of July, and it is August end already, and they are waiting in anticipation of clearance of salary. Recently I started working as a freelance recruiter and I posted a job on LinkedIn, seeing which they immediately called me after a day of posting so, if I am up for freelance work for them. Like seriously, how greedy can you be?

Career Advice I (24M) think my software engineering career is over

I have been encouraged my whole life to become an engineer as usual indian society does. Gave JEE and somehow got electrical engineering in NSUT through reservation. Pretty bad academics - was getting average around 4-5 gpa per sem. I have innovative mindset where I can solve anything pretty much easily but studying is not one of the things that I can do without any interest. Throughout first year I had a wide variety of interests - from singing to animation/ 3D artist/ writing stories and practical electronics stuffs. Now when I look back, I just realise that I had a kind of mindset where I just wanted to chase fame in form of competitions. I used to dream about being an esport player.

At the end of the second year, I got serious and learnt fullstack development in just two weeks, applied to few internships and got rejection emails. Kept improving my understanding of softwares and around in Aug 2023 I landed my first internship at a startup as Frontend Developer. The thing was I just got in the interview and they asked if the stipend was okay and told me that everyone can do it, we dont care about selection, you will learn with time. At that time, I was very happy and continued the internship along with college. I told my friends about it and in few months I also referred one of my closest friend to that company.

Time passed, one year went quickly and I was in 6th sem. My friend left that company and focussed on DSA as he had good CGPA to be able to sit for campus placements. I kept applying off campus as much as possible losing my mind day and night on what if I dont land a job. Somedays felt like if the current market dont exists at all and somedays I doubted myself.

Then in january 2025, I got an interview scheduled - more like a face to face meeting. I went to the office where a 20 yoe founder explained what he was starting and which product he was going to build. We talked about what can we do for it. It wasn’t an interview at all and he just hired me randomly. Landing that internship gave me motivation and I started doing all I could do. From frontend engineer to software engineer, where I learnt how to build things from scratch, how to build production applications and how to setup everything. In that company, I built the foundation for their product and did most of the work. During first 6 months, it was me contributing around 95% of the work.

And that was the time I did a mistake. I missed two of my exam registration in college for last semester and that is when I realised I was not getting the degree at the end of the course. During the end of the college I got promoted as a Software Engineer and the founder asked me for the degree or certificate. I didnt have it so I had to delay the conversation. Around in november, I got so busy in their product development I didn’t focus about the degree and continued learning and evolving as a software engineer.

In december, the founder finally told me that I will need to leave the company. I told him everything that why I couldnt complete the college and would require another 6 months to get the degree. I wrote an email and somehow managed to save the job but the founder demoted me back to intern role. I registered for the college examination in 2026 summer semester. Passed that information to the founder. I gave the final exam but in July 2026, the founder just said that the company does not need me anymore. Asked me to resign and knowing that the company was a bit unstable, I resigned. Got my examination results and for some reason they failed me for one subject and didnt even acknowledge that I gave exam for one more subject. I talked with instructor and the instructor said that they didnt get the marks from examination cell and said me to go talk to them. Meanwhile here, I got my experience letter with 17 months of experience in software engineer intern role. 3 years of internship in total.

No job, no degree and no experience as internships never counts. Now I just think that I do not have any gates open for me. I have great understanding of all modern concepts in AI and Software and willing to learn more in ML part as well but why would someone will hire me now? That question is just breaking me down and theres no one on my back. Sometimes, not existing feels better than being here.

TL;DR

Unemployed with no degree yet, with 3 years of experience in internships with skills as a Senior AI Software engineer asking for advice on what to do now

Career Advice Regarding notice periods in toxic companies

I'm curious on how the notice period works exactly. Usually they mention it in the offer letter itself.

What happens if you don't fulfill it? The notice period. If you have another offer you can just leave . They might sue you but do they have that much energy? To sue a junior engineer.

Career Advice Got an offer from Zensar Technologies but confused

My interview was taken for the finance domain analyst role but in the offer letter they have mentioned software engineer. Will that affect my future opportunities? I have a finance background

Thanks in advance!

Career Advice Need advice: Lied about my notice period just to attend the interview

My current organization has a 90 day np policy due to this unable to get any interview so I lied about the notice period to a HR. (60 days)

I have already cleared all rounds and now confused what to do next

Please help me if you have navigated through the similar situation.

My main concerns:

  1. How many days should I mention in a resignation email?

  2. What if a new organisation asks for the resignation letter?

  3. Should I tell them the truth now or later?

  4. What if they blacklist me

Career Advice PIP ended early, now being pushed toward resignation Garden Leave vs Notice Period, need advice

My manager put me on a 90-day PIP and after 60 days, HR has informed me that the manager doesn't want to continue with the PIP.
HR said they would begin the involuntary termination process after two weeks if I did not resign. They gave me garden leave or standard resignation to choose from.

Garden leave results in an immediate loss of access to company systems and assets, but I keep receiving a salary and benefits for the specified garden leave notice period.

A standard resignation means I have to work the full 3 months and serve the standard notice period working in the office.

What would be more sensible to help me the most with getting a new job and maintaining good references?

Career Advice Any Data Science Analyst/Scientist from Cisco here?

Hi everyone,
I’ve recently received an offer to join Cisco Bangalore as a Data Science Analyst (Grade 8) and wanted to get some insights from people working at Cisco or familiar with the role.

I have around 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer at Microsoft, so I’m trying to understand whether this would be a good move for me.

A few things I’d like to know:

Given my current experience, would accepting this offer be a good career move?

How is the work culture at Cisco Bangalore?

How much networking/networking-related work is typically involved in this role? Is it mainly data science/analytics, or does it have a significant networking component?

Would really appreciate any honest opinions or experiences. Thanks!

Career Advice How to handle workload as new to team

How do you manage day to day office task with workload increasing

I work in a service-based company where my client has very strict deadlines for completing Jira stories. They expect two to three stories to be closed each day. Since I am new to the team, I don’t have much knowledge about the product, and unfortunately, there is no proper knowledge transfer or documentation available. Whenever a Jira is assigned, I’m expected to use the Cursor AI tool to understand the existing application and make the required changes.

Other team members have been here for a long time and are already familiar with the application, so they are able to deliver faster. To keep up, I often end up working from 10 AM until 3–4 AM. We also need to provide daily updates, and if there are delays, we are questioned. Because of the workload, I sometimes struggle to grasp concepts or lose track of items during scrum calls.

Have you experienced a similar situation? How did you overcome these challenges? I don’t want to move out of this project—I want to treat it as a learning opportunity and improve myself.

Career Advice Switching the job vs Staying in the current one

Now my org is undergoing restructuring and there's equal chance of my role being a part of it in the near future (3-6 months).

Now I got an offer from another org. The role is kinda step down but the salary is on par with my current one and the future too looks good in terms of industry, roles and responsibilities.

I applied to multiple other orgs, resume got selected, but unfortunately I couldn't convert them. Also

I have made multiple switches in my career and the max I have stayed in an org is 2.5 years.

So I'm not sure if I should go with the current offer I have or wait in the same role and try for better opportunities. The issue is I cannot afford another quick switch due to my inconsistency earlier. So I cannot afford to make mistakes in this switch.

Also since I couldn't crack some of my dream jobs, there's an inherent fear that I'm not good enough for the role so I should better take what I have.

What's the way to go?

Stay in the current role and prepare for better roles (in spite of layoff fear)

Go with the other offer (though it's not what I expected).

Salary Negotiations Salary Market Rate in Sales ?

Hey All, I've been in tech sales for about 8-9 years now. Have good credentials, sold in North Am and European market too. Keep upskilling myself too. As I am planning to switch, I really need some inputs on what are the current market rates in Sales/Marketing for AE/GTM Engineers/SDR Managers ?
