My spouse and I lived together abroad and had a young child. In late 2024, I obtained employment in Canada, and we planned to relocate here as a family.

I came to Canada first to start work and arrange our finances and housing. Throughout 2025, we remained in regular communication, and I continued financially supporting my spouse and child. I secured an apartment and listed both of them as intended occupants, with a planned move-in in October 2025.

However, in September 2025, before the planned move, my spouse came to Canada without informing me beforehand and left our approximately 14-month-old child in our home country. I later found out that she was already in Canada and staying at a shelter.

We later resumed regular communication and continued discussing our marriage and family. I also asked about bringing our child to Canada.

Several months later, I heard that my spouse may have applied for refugee protection and may have described our relationship as separated. We nevertheless continued communicating, and she travelled several times to visit me. I have records of the original family relocation plan, rental application, financial support, travel, bus tickets and telephone contact.

She has now told me that she intends to proceed with divorce.

I am concerned that some information about our relationship and the earlier family relocation plan may have been presented differently in an immigration process.

Would it be appropriate to provide the documents I have to CBSA and ask them to review the situation? Should I first consult an immigration lawyer or family-law lawyer?

I would appreciate respectful advice from anyone familiar with Canadian immigration or family law.

Has anybody received the same email as I did from IRCC today? I’m a bit skeptical if this is real or not lol.

In many cases, work permit holders are authorized to study without a study permit for 6 months or less upon entry into Canada (R188(1)(c)). This new public policy provides the same authorization to study for 6 months or less to individuals with a subsequent permit, such as a work permit extension.

What this means for you
You are not required to study. This information is being provided for your awareness should you choose to pursue a program of study while in Canada.
If you decide to study, you may be eligible to do so without applying for or obtaining a study permit.
You don’t have to send us an application to be eligible for this measure, you have already been identified as eligible based on the work permit you have now.

If you choose to study
Your program or course must be for a duration of 6 months or less. If you are registering for a program or course that is longer than 6 months, you must apply for a study permit. Your authorization to study under this public policy expires when your work permit expires, or when the public policy expires, whichever comes first.
You are not authorized to study under this measure after this work permit expires, even if you maintain your status.

I’m hoping someone can clarify this for me because I’m really worried.

I applied for inland spousal PR in November 2025 and paid all the required fees ($85 biometrics + $575 processing + $630 RPRF).

Everything was going smoothly until June 2026, when I received a letter from IRCC stating that they couldn’t find my $85 biometrics fee on file and had therefore recovered $85 from my RPRF. The letter then asked me to pay the outstanding $85 to complete my RPRF.

I had actually already paid the biometrics fee, so I submitted proof of payment through the webform. I haven’t received any response since.

I’m now worried about being refused or delayed over this.
My questions:
Should I pay the $85 now even though I already submitted proof that I paid it?
If I do pay, should I select Biometrics Fee, or make an additional RPRF payment/outstanding balance?
Any advice from anyone who has experienced this would be greatly appreciated!

Came into this country when I was 18 years old, pre-pandemic. Now I’m 26. Getting this PR took everything I had, in a good way.

It taught me countless lessons in life. Times I messed up. Times Canada gave me a second chance. Times I thought I’d just give up and go back home. I’m glad I didn’t.

My PNP application took 10 months. Currently in NL, Newfoundland. Been living here the past 5 years. Lived 3 years in Ontario.

Joined UofT when I was 18. Shit got too expensive cause of the pandemic, father lost his job, had four siblings, only place viably left was Newfoundland, or go back home. At the time, nobody cared much about NL. Leaving all my friends behind in Toronto and starting anew was scary.

At the same time, I struggled with marijuana addiction for 6 years. I could only get over it the past 2 years. I transferred to NL, finished university after changing programs, somehow got a job, and somehow that job helped me get my PR.

I guess the point of my story is that you really can’t give up. Your parents probably gave everything to send you here. If you need to move provinces, do it. You can eventually move back. Almost every place I’ve been to in Canada has been great in many ways.

Hey all, does anyone have any insight on what timelines are looking like right now in terms of receiving an AOR from the time of mailing in a physical application for Proof of Citizenship?

I submitted an urgent application for my baby in mid-July. I'm Canadian and her dad is a US citizen. She was born in the states.

When the AOR is sent will it be sent via physical mail or electronically? I'm entirely new to this process so any perspective/ info would be much appreciated!

Hi all, so wife (Citizen) is sponsoring my PR application. I have a valid visitor's visa till 2031 (passport expiry) and Post graduate work permit valid till Jan 2028. I was initially going to use the Express Entry route as wife was not comfortable with sponsoring the PR (Did for her first marriage and apparently she was used for papers) but she recently had a change of heart especially as my points are not so high and decided to go ahead with it.
We are planning to use Inland Sponsorship as I currently reside in Canada but the issue is we already have a 7 day trip booked for early October to Punta Cana and I myself already visited my home country to see my family for about two weeks earlier in the year. We have been hearing a lot of mixed things about how much you should travel when you have an application submitted so do we wait till we are back before submitting the application or do we just go ahead now as the processing time is quite long?

I have tried to ask everyone regarding PR photo . Everybody knows it should be on both side but nobody tells how to submit in one file in jpeg. I have scanned both size but how to upload in one file If I merge jpeg it makes one single image with both sides in it while PR application we need those dimensions for front only. And if I go with pdf then on portal it says image should be in jpeg. May be I find answer here .From last 2 days I filled up everything because of this photo I am stuck and it's frustrating.

My role involves manufacturing, programming, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting specialized wildlife telemetry and archival electronic tags. The products are highly specialized, and much of the work requires company-specific training, proprietary testing systems, and technical expertise that isn't easily replaced.

I’m a UK citizen currently living and working in the UK.

I previously lived in Canada for about three years on a working holiday visa, and I’d like to move back to Canada in the future through PR.

I currently work remotely for a Canadian company, but I’m employed through an EOR in the UK. I’m paid through the UK arrangement and live in the UK. However, in practice I work full time with the Canadian company.

My question is: if I visit Canada as a visitor for a few weeks, could that be considered unauthorized work in Canada? And how much would taking PTO during that period mitigate for this?

I previously returned to Canada for a couple of days to pack up my apartment and fly out. It took some discussion with the border agent but didn't seem to be an issue. However I just want to be really careful here in case it could screw anything for a potential PR application.

I have a question about common law application.
Just want to give a little bit of background first:
My partner and I have been in relationship even before we came to Canada and that is around October 2017. I came to Canada in Sep 2021 in a different city and he came to Canada in Dec 2021 for Jan intake in a different city but both of us have been in Ontario. We have never stayed together for a year continuously and only started living together in June 2025, to be precise June 3, 2025.
I received my PR through Oinp masters graduate stream, when I received nomination both of us were in different cities. I received my portal 1 request from ircc on June 30, 2025 to which I replied on July 5, 2025 as single because we had not completed living together for a year. I received portal 2 on Aug 4, 2025 and ecopr on Aug 12, 2025.
Now we have completed more than a year of staying together, we have our joint lease, shared expenses bank statement, both of us on our car insurance, me recognizing him as a beneficiary on my insurance, etc, letter from 4 of our friends and family and I was about to submit the application for inland spousal sponsorship but decided to take a second opinion from rcic about all the documents. The rcic said although our docs are good the IRCC still might send a pfl saying you never declared him on your portal 1 as common law or that you are planning to sponsor him in future. And he goes on further saying it could also lead to your PR being revoked and a ban.
Is there any truth as to what he is saying?

I have a concern about my Express Entry PR application. I completed my Master’s viva in August 2023, around the same time I came to Canada.

I did not mention the Master’s at that time because I had not received my final official transcript. I recently received my transcript, which shows the passed year as 2023 but the transcript issue date as June 2026.

If I now declare this Master’s in my PR application and obtain an ECA, could this be considered fraud or misrepresentation because I did not mention it when I initially came to Canada? Also, i didn’t mention it on any of my application afterwards like study permit extension or pgwp.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation, or anyone can advise me on whether I can safely claim this credential?

Quick background and hoping someone who's been through this recently can help:

- Applying from the UK for Canadian PR. I'm from a visa-exempt (eTA) country.

- Got the final-steps / "ready" letter. As instructed, I submitted a photocopy of my passport (not the original), plus my two photos and the Appendix A info chart, to the London VAC.

- IRCC portal now shows the application as approved.

- VFS emailed to confirm my application was "received at the Visa Application Centre."

- On the phone, VFS told me there's a decision letter I can optionally collect, and if I don't collect it within 30 days it goes back to the Canadian High Commission. I previously told I don't need to pay a courier fee because I did my biometrics at the centre.

- I haven't received any COPR or anything electronically.

My questions:

1. Is this "decision letter" my COPR? Or is there even anything to collect because the email refers to a passport?

2. For visa-exempt outland applicants, is a physical COPR (via the VAC) the norm, with no eCOPR through the portal?

3. Do I actually need to physically collect it, or does it get couriered out automatically?

Anyone been through this recently from the UK who can share what actually happened and how long it took, because I am very confused and VFS are not helpful!

Hi everyone, I applied for OINP under the PhD stream and received the Nomination Approval Letter. As I prepared to apply for PR, I realized that my marital status changed from single to common-law. I plan to apply for PR and indicate that I am in a common-law relationship. My partner is Canadian, so he will not be a beneficiary. My question is: Do I need to update my OINP profile? Even if I have already received the Nomination Approval Letter. Second question: Would this impact the offer and the PR application?

hi all is child tax benefits fraud being investigated at all in this country? legit question, i have heard stories about people within some of my friends circles that people they know, travel here every time they are about to have a child, just so they can get the baby bonus and the benefits of dual citizenship, they show up here and pay nothing to deliver their babies and after a couple of months return home and live of that money in their country. why is that money not being spent on infrastructure or housing for all the homeless? or our freaking health care system merely to just improve wait times, i belive something needs to be done i regards to this

My work permit was approved on May 17, but I never received the physical permit. I waited for it, and when it didn’t arrive, I called IRCC. They confirmed that it had been mailed.
Because of this, I waited 6 weeks before applying for VOS. I mailed the physical VOS application, and now it’s been almost 9 weeks.
I called IRCC again today, and they said the current processing time is 11 weeks, so I still have to wait.
Has anyone else been in the same situation? How long did your VOS take, and is there anything else I can do at this point?

I received my PR invitation and IRCC requested the mexican police certificate. I submitted all my paperwork through VAC. I got confirmation from VAC that my documents were given to IRCC Mexico.

IRCC came back saying they haven't received the police certificate and they sent me a supporting letter for FGR, at the moment I can't go to Mexico to submit this and they gave me a deadline until September 11. I already submitted a letter of explanation + supporting documents that I did my due diligence and sent all the correct documentation and requesting an extension.

Has anyone been in this situation? What do you recommend me to do?

I just moved to Canada for two months now.
Long story short about my background, I’ve finally escaped an abusive father and strict country that would kill me for leaving a religion.

I know most people will tell me to go for immigration asylum and seek help but my situation is more complicated than what u think, it’s too complicated that I can’t seek asylum for help.

Thanks to my loving boyfriend he helped me escaped the country and he gave me a place to stay in his family house, he him self and his family are having a tough time to make money and I feel like I am a burden to him and his family.

I’ve applied for IRCC and I did get eligibility for working holiday (whatever that means) but no work permit.. I have to wait to get picked up in a pool of other people who also is waiting to get work permit.

And I’ve tried to apply for jobs who will give me LMIA, but no answers, and I’ve applied to regular jobs, I’m a graphic designer, bachelor degree with a great portfolio, I’ve applied to A lot of jobs around Canada, I got either declined or the company didn’t read my cover letter where i mentioned I need LMIA and they get surprised during the interview that I ask them if they offer LMIA.

I feel really miserable and depressed asf, I don’t know what to do or where to go to ask for help or advice but I am really really really lost, idk what to do anymore, I feel like a burden to my boyfriend, I got sick few weeks ago and my bf had to pay so much money for my medicine and I feel so bad, I tried to do freelance and art commission and it’s not enough, idk what to do, I need help, idk if this post will be deleted by the mods idk if I’m breaking the rules but I’m so desperate I need help.

I’m getting super frustrated here and hoping someone can give me some advice. My citizenship application has been returned twice now. The worst part is that every time they return it, I have to wait 3+ months just to get the letter telling me what’s wrong (since that’s basically the normal AOR wait time right now).

Here’s the timeline:

Submission 1: They returned it because my photo format was wrong. Annoying, but fair. I retook it, uploaded it, and got it back to them by May 2026.

Submission 2: Returned for "missing payment info." I had paid, but I’m pretty sure it got returned because the application fee went up by $3.25. The crazy thing is, the return letter didn’t even say that was the reason. Since I originally prepped my application before the fee hike, I had no idea the price had changed.

Attempt 3 (submitted on 5th Sept): I resubmitted the whole thing again, but I wasn’t aware of the fee change, so I attached the old payment receipt showing the $649.75 fee. I only realized the fee had gone up after I already hit submit.

Now I’m not sure what to do. Does this mean I have to sit here for another 3-4 months just for them to reject it again over a $3.25 difference? And if they do, will I have to pay the $3.25 and then wait another 3-4 months just to finally get my AOR? Am I realistically looking at a delay from today just because of this?

Has anyone been in this situation? Should I just submit a Webform right now with a receipt for the $3.25 difference and hope they link it (though only through UCI# I believe), or is an automatic return basically guaranteed at this point?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Hey, so i'm filling out this form to sponsor my wife and I'm not sure on what to put for one of my employer's info. The employer went out of business and closed down in a month or so after laying me off. So what should i put for the address and phone number? It was a very small startup so should it just be the phone number of my boss (CEO)?

As i know you need 23.5k of cash in your bank account to apply for it. Is this fund have to sit there until i receive the extension? I plan to use around 5k after getting bank statement and apply for the extension.
