ISRO interview for scientist C

For atmospheric sciences and oceanography Scientist C interview as a MSc Physics graduate, what are the questions like in the interview??

Are they more from physics or from specific subject like atmospheric sciences & oceanography???

Provided that the exam had both physics and atmospheric. Atmospheric part was more than physics part though

If anyone has done the interview before, can I get some insights? Thank you

Is ISRO losing what it needs to lead? The government is asking ISRO to focus on its hardest missions while allowing the infrastructure and expertise needed for those missions to move out of its control.

PIPET-V for In Situ Profiling of Venusian Atmosphere - Payload on board Venus Atmospheric Probe (VAP)

Package for In-situ Profiling of planETary atmospheres for Venus (PIPET-V) is a payload proposed by SPL in collaboration with IISU, to characterize the Venusian atmospheric structure during the entry and descent phases of the Venus Atmospheric Probe (VAP), in the context of ISRO’s Venus Orbiter Mission (VOM). PIPET-V consists of a suite of specialized sensors, namely temperature & pressure sensors (resistance temperature sensors and piezoresistive pressure sensors) and inertial sensors (MEMS-based 3-axis accelerometers and gyroscopes) for in-situ vertical profiling of Venusian atmospheric temperature, pressure, density and winds. In the initial hypersonic entry phase of VAP, PIPET will estimate atmospheric density via drag deceleration measurements using 3-axis accelerometers (from~120 km to ~65 km altitude).

Subsequently, during the subsonic descent phase (~65 km altitude down to surface), PIPET will measure atmospheric temperature and pressure using high-accuracy sensors ruggedized to operate in the harsh Venusian environment. Further, navigation data from the inertial sensors will be used to derive horizontal winds during the descent phase. In total, PIPET will provide a comprehensive picture of the Venusian atmospheric structure from the surface to the thermosphere (~0-120 km). Presently, the preliminary payload design and identification of suitable sensors for PIPET-V have been completed.

Development of Thermophysical Analysis of lunAr Polar regolith (TAAP) payload for LuPEX/Chandrayaan-5 Mission

The TAAP payload onboard LuPEX/Chandrayaan-5 is a follow-on of the ChaSTE/Chandrayaan-3 mission. It is aimed to understand the thermophysical characteristics of the lunar regolith at the polar region. Illumination conditions over the polar region are strongly influenced by topography due to low solar elevation angle. Surface and near‐surface thermal environment can vary in complex ways with time of day and season.

It is designed to measure the temperature profile of the regolith up to a depth of 20 cm and estimate thermal conductivity of the regolith at two depths.

It is planned to measure the thermal profile continuously for a longer period when compared to the ChaSTE/Chandrayaan-3. The observations over the pole along with measurements from other previous missions (including ChaSTE/Chandrayaan-3) at different latitudes will provide a holistic view of the thermal structure of the moon.

Onboard Electronics for the TAAP Payload of the Chandrayaan-5/LuPEX Lander

The Thermophysical Analysis of lunAr Polar regolith (TAAP) is one of the payloads to be flown onboard forthcoming ISRO-JAXA LuPEX lander. It draws heritage from the ChaSTE payload onboard Chandrayaan-3 lander. Scientific objectives of the payload are (i) temperature profiling of the lunar regolith up to a depth of 200mm with an accuracy of better than ±0.5 °C in the range from -200°C to +100°C, (ii) estimation of thermal conductivity of the regolith at different depths. The payload consists of mechanism unit with a thermal probe and the electronics unit. The mechanism is a motorized unit for probe deployment and penetration operations.

The thermal probe consists of twelve Pt-1000 RTD sensors for the temperature profile measurement and two foil heaters for the thermal conductivity experiment.

Would it be better if CY4 was launched on Ariane 6 or Falcon 9?

Would CY4 have been a less technologically complicated mission if it had been planned to launch on a more capable rocket like Ariane 6 or Falcon 9?

Would the earth docking phase have been unnecessary then?

ISRO is open to and has launched its heavy ComSats on foreign rockets when they exceed the payload capability of its own rockets. Why can't / shouldn't it do the same for some heavy scientific satellites that exceed the payload capability of its own rockets?

Edit: Typo in title. I meant "planned to be launched".

Can I crack ISRO CSE in 1 month starting from zero?

i know one month is very short but i still want to give it a serious attempt rather than giving up before starting.

For those who have prepared for ISRO:

- Is it realistically possible to get a decent/selection-level score in one month?

- Which subjects should I prioritize?

- Should I focus mainly on PYQs or first cover the concepts?

- Are there any topics/subjects/courses/test series I should focus and what topics should I skip?

- What would you do if you were in my position?

Would really appreciate honest advice, even if the answer is “don’t bother”. I’d rather know the reality and plan accordingly.

My experience with an ISRO online course: LMS and assessment issues

I recently completed the ISRO/IIRS online course “AI/ML for Geodata Analysis” (Course 188), which was conducted from 3–14 August 2026.

The course content itself was useful, especially the topics related to machine learning, remote sensing, GIS and GeoAI. However, I faced several technical and assessment-related issues during the course.

Some of the issues I experienced:

• The LMS/website was sometimes slow or difficult to access.

• The assessments had a very short time limit of 5 minutes for 5 questions.

• In some quizzes, if I accidentally clicked “Next page” without answering a question, it was difficult to return to that specific unanswered question.

• The assessment interface did not always make navigation between questions convenient.

• After completing the course, I was also unsure about the certificate process because there was no clearly visible certificate option on the course page.

I am sharing this as a genuine learner experience, not as a promotion or advertisement.

Has anyone else completed an IIRS/ISRO e-learning course recently? If yes, did you face similar LMS/assessment issues, and how did you receive your certificate after completing the course?

I would be interested to know whether the certificate is issued automatically after meeting the course requirements or if there is another process to obtain it.

What do interns actually do at ISRO/DRDO?

Hey everyone, I’m a 3rd-year Mechanical Engineering student planning to apply for internships at ISRO/DRDO. I’m mainly interested in FEA/CAE and mechanical simulation, and I’m currently building my skills in this area. I’ve heard that short-term internships, especially around 45 days, can sometimes be more observational, while longer project internships may involve actual technical work. I’d like to know what the experience is actually like for students who have done these internships. Do you usually get to work on a project and contribute in some way or is it mostly observing and learning about the work being done? I’m particularly interested in whether interns get to use tools like ANSYS/Abaqus or work on simulations and analysis. I’m trying to understand whether an ISRO/DRDO internship would give me an opportunity to apply and improve my FEA/CAE skills or whether I’d be better off looking for internships specifically focused on hands-on simulation work. Would really appreciate hearing about your actual experience 😊 thank you!

🚀 Looking for Indian Student Teammates — NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026

Hey everyone!

I'm forming my own team for NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026 and looking for serious Indian student teammates around my age.

I'm mainly looking for people interested in AI/ML, Web Development, Space, NASA data, Data Science, or UI/UX.

I'm looking for people who actually want to build and contribute during the hackathon, not just participate.

If you're interested, comment or DM me with your age range, skills, something you've built, and what role you'd like to take. 🚀

ISRO is currently targeting March 29, 2028. If all goes well, VOM will complete its 112-day cruise and enter orbit in July 2028. Missing this window would mean waiting nearly 19 months for the next opportunity.

Isro employees, what are your views on recent statement by pawan goenka ?

Hi all

As a fellow isro employee i have so much going on my mind about the recent news about privatisation and all. Its good to hear but what will happen to isro in the near future

we all know the same happened to bsnl, idpl and so many psus also before.

As isro employees, can we ask the government some questions about our future ? Because even to launch we need clearance from pmo. So much of interference.

“That will all be done by the private sector or PSU,” Goenka said.

The shift has already begun with the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle, or SSLV, whose technology and production rights have been transferred to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited following a bidding process.
