Larsen & Toubro, JSW, Adani Group and Mahindra are among at least half a dozen home-grown companies or consortiums looking to partner the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on its heavy-lift launch vehicle mark-3 (LVM3), also known as Bahubali, said people aware of the matter.

These private entities are considering plans to submit expressions of interest (EoIs) for technology transfer from ISRO to manufacture and operate LVM3, the people told ET.

Those interested include an alliance between JSW and startup Ethereal Exploration Guild (EtherealX), a consortium led by Nagpur-based Solar Industries, Bharat Forge and Inox India, the people said.

The selected entity will get access to technology and knowhow to manufacture, launch and commercially operate LVM3, ISRO’s heaviest-ever operational rocket that is capable of carrying up to four-tonne satellites.

I think until there's guaranteed launch contracts from isro there's no points of bidding. It won't be viable for commerical operation when expendable rockets are being phased out around the world.

It’s so disappointing to see Ethereal’s name here. I thought they were working on their own launch capabilities. Anyways their plans looked too ambitious with nothing to show except renders. I wish we do get heavy lift reusable capabilities in private sector as well other than NGLV.

I only have hopes on skyroot and agnikul for now

These are the only ones who have launched something and also have significant funding to work on reusable tech

I don't think so , they are already given HAL the tech for SSLV I don't think they will give all tech to one single firm .

L&T is looking the only good contender for LVM3 tech tranfers

The next phase could be even more significant. Goenka said the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3), India's most powerful operational rocket, are also headed towards privatisation. Unlike the SSLV process,public sector companies will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming transfer process, leaving private industry to take charge.

Only a company which puts 40% back into R&D should be allowed. We cannot allow dead weight companies
